Peres and Francis Collaborate on Jesuit Mideast Peace Plan

Today the pope accepted an invitation from president Peres to visit Jerusalem  “with  willingness and joy,” a Vatican spokesman said, but there was no  indication when a trip would be made.

When Peres met the pontiff, he was  gladdened when Pope Francis, who like Peres is a great advocate for peace; told him that he wholeheartedly supports all that Peres says about peace and what he does for peace.

Peres has strong Jesuit connections and has consistently proposed internationalizing the Old City under UN authority with the Vatican in control of the Holy Sites.

The Pope also shared his plan for an “International Peace Convocation”, with spiritual leaders of  many faiths from all over the world: Which in a loud, clear voice, will  call for an end to violence.

Following his meeting with the Pope, Peres  met with Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Prime Minister of the Holy See,  after which he met with Italy’s new Prime Minister Enrico Lette

In 1979, Yitzhak Rabin published his autobiography, within was a one-line offbeat quote. He said that unlike other Jewish children growing up in Poland, Shimon Peres spent his early education at a Jesuit school.

Peres has been closely linked to the Vatican for years. Peres and Pope Francis are closely linked by Jesuit training and goals.

In  March 1994, the newspaper Chadashot revealed a most remarkable secret of  the Middle East “peace” process. A friend of Shimon Peres, the French  intellectual Marek Halter, claimed in an interview that in May 1993, he  delivered a letter from Peres to the pope.

Within, Peres promised to  internationalize Jerusalem, granting the UN political control of the Old City  of Jerusalem, and the Vatican hegemonic control of the holy sites within the Old City. The UN would then give the PLO a capital within its new territory; and the Old City of Jerusalem would become a kind of “District of Columbia” under UN control for the whole world.

Halter’s  claim was backed by the Italian newspaper La Stampa which added that Arafat was apprised of the agreement and it was agreed between the Vatican, the Palestinians and senior Israelis; and  included in the secret clauses  of the Declaration Of Principles signed in Washington in September  1993.

A Middle East Peace deal is at the ready, with only a need to convince the Israeli and Palestinian publics to accept its provisions.

In  March 1995, the Israeli Arutz Sheva was leaked a cable  from the Israeli Embassy in Rome to Peres’s Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem  confirming the handover of Jerusalem to the Vatican. This cable was printed on  the front page of the peace oriented leftwing Israeli newspaper, Ha’aretz two  days later.

Shimon Peres, at that time the head of Israel’s opposition Labor Party, has suggested resolving Israeli-Palestinian conflict over Jerusalem by putting its holy sites under U.N. stewardship, a spokesman said.  The Peres plan calls for declaring a holy area of sites sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims in Jerusalem’s old walled city as an “International Site,” with the U.N. Secretary-General serving as mayor, Peres’ spokesman Yoram Dori told Reuters.

Recently President Shimon Peres  welcomed the announcement of the new pontiff, saying Pope Francis I brings with him “a spirit of hope and peace.”

“The new pope will be welcomed in the Holy Land with love and appreciation by Jews, Muslims and Christians as one,” Peres said.

American Jewish leaders also welcomed Francis’ appointment, with Anti-Defamation League president Abe Foxman saying that  he was “reassured” over the record of the new Pope, and Bergoglio had been crucial in maintaining “positive Catholic-Jewish relations”.

Meanwhile, Rabbi David Rosen of American Jewish Committee told JTA that the new pope is a “warm and sweet and modest man” known in Buenos Aires for doing his own cooking and personally answering his phone. After the  deadly bombing of the AMIA Jewish community center in 1994, the then-archbishop “showed  solidarity with the Jewish community,” Rosen said.

While Obama is closely associated with the Jesuit Georgetown University and Peres is also associated with the Jesuits, it will take much more than that to get majority of Israeli public opinion behind the plan.

There will have to be a war which defeats the Shia extremists while at the same bringing significant damage and casualties to Israel to generate a demand for a peace deal.  Even then a large majority of the Settlement Movement will not go along.

The divisions in Israeli society will result in grave difficulties in implementing the plan; and as Daniel was told, Israel will provoke the new Europe, Dan 11:40-42.

Today Israeli President Shimon Peres invited Pope Francis to visit Israel, at his first meeting with the new pontiff, who has appealed for peace in the Middle East.

“I am expecting you in Jerusalem, not just me but the whole country of Israel,” Peres told the pope in the presence of reporters after 30 minutes of private talks in the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace.

Peres asked Francis “to pray for all of us” and told the pope that he would pray for him during a pilgrimage on Wednesday to the central Italian city of Assisi, where Peres will pay his respects at the tomb of St. Francis, whose name Bergoglio adopted when elected pope.

The mayor of Assisi, where hundreds of Franciscan monks live, will present its first-ever Medal of Honor for Peace to President Peres for his “unique contribution to dialogue and the cause of peace.”

The Papal trip to Jerusalem has not yet been scheduled;  Francis will travel to Rio de Janeiro in July to preside at the Roman Catholic Church’s World Day of Youth, a gathering of young people from around the world. He is expected to visit his native Argentina in early 2014.

The scripture says that when a final “abomination” a miracle working pope, visits the temple mount; conflict will break out in the region and Jerusalem and Judea will be occupied for one last time, and three and one half years later Messiah shall come with his resurrected saints to rule Judea and the whole earth. Mat 24:15, 2 Thess 2.

Pope Francis could be empowered as this “Man of Sin” at the appointed time; since he certainly has already deceived many who falsely equate asceticism with humility before God.  Yet there is a solid possibility that he will suddenly die and be replaced with another.
