US Seals Seize al Shabaab Leader in Somalia Over Nairobi Attack

UPDATE:  The Seals were driven off and failed in their mission.

In response to a deadly attack on a Nairobi shopping mall last month, a US Navy SEAL team, seized a senior leader of the al Shabaab militant group that carried out the Nairobi attack.

The SEAL team seized the unidentified person in a predawn firefight after approaching the beachfront villa in the Somali town of Barawe by sea.

In other news Palestinian Authority forces surrounded Jenin yesterday and then moved in overnight to arrest several Islamic Jihad members in the town.  This was in response to intelligence of a coming attack on Israel.

The attack on Israel proceeded this evening. as a nine-year-old girl was lightly injured Saturday night while she was playing in the yard of her home in Psagot, a Jewish settlement located north of Ramallah in the West Bank. No one else was hurt in the incident.

IDF forces suspect that a terrorist from the nearby Palestinian town of al-Bireh had infiltrated Psagot and then fled the scene. Footprints found near Psagot’s security fence, as well as a hole in the fence, reinforce this assumption. Psagot’s residents were instructed to remain indoors until further notice, while soldiers were going from house to house to make certain the attacker had not remained in the community.

A motorcyclist also reported that he came under fire on a road leading to Kochav Yaakov, not far from Psagot.
