Matthew 1 – 14

Matthew 1

Matthew chapters one and two are about establishing the Messiah-ship of Jesus [Hebrew:  Yeshua] by going over his birth and very early life; and how the prophecies were fulfilled.

Matthew 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

While Jesus was not the biological son of Joseph; Joseph was the “adoptive” father of Jesus.  Matthew provides a genealogy of Jesus through Joseph to demonstrate that Jesus was born into the family of David.

1:2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren; 1:3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram; 1:4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon; 1:5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse; 1:6 And Jesse begat David the king;

and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;  1:7 And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa; 1:8 And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias; 1:9 And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;1:10 And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;

1:11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon: 1:12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel;  and Salathiel begat Zorobabel; 1:13 And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor; 1:14 And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud; 1:15  And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob; 1:16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

Forty-two generations from the promises made to Abraham until the birth of Jesus the Christ.

1:17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

Now we have it plainly stated that Mary was with child BEFORE Joseph “knew” her.

From this statement the Pharisees said that Jesus was a bastard born of fornication; stumbling over the implanting of the Creator in the womb of Mary by the Father. Truly the carnally minded cannot understand the things of the spirit and seek for a physical explanation of the spiritually miraculous.

1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Joseph not understanding what had happened [can you imagine the mystification of both persons?]  Joseph decided to divorce her privately and not make a public gazing-stock of the one who he loved and felt betrayed by.

Consider carefully that an espoused [engaged] person is considered as in a trial marriage without sex; and the wife is being tested for her fitness to be married to the husband.

I bring this up because we are espoused to an Husband who has already paid the marriage price of his very life! That is what Passover is all about: the paying of the price, of the death of Jesus Christ, and the application of that blood price for those called out as a part of his bride.

We are being Watched and Tested and Judged NOW! as to our fitness to be a part of the bride.

For a very important study into marriage as an allegory of the relationship between Christ and his people please see this study. Unleavened Bread, the Marriage of the Lamb and an Introduction to Pentecost

1:19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.

God saved Joseph from his error and sent his angel to explain

1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS [Yeshua, Savour]: for he shall save his people from their sins.

1:22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Here it is made clear that the angel came to him in a dream.

1:24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 1:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS [Hebrew: Yeshua] .

The “star” was probably an angel and not a literal star.

Matthew 2

Matthew 2:1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2:2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Herod thinking his kingdom was threatened, was troubled; and sought information on this child.

2:3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 2:4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.

2:5 And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, 2:6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

2:7 Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. 2:8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.

The “star” moved about, first from the east to Jerusalem and then from Jerusalem to Bethlehem and hovered over the child; more the actions of an angel that a literal star.

2:9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

This story of the wise men is an allegory that the repentant [wise] of the gentiles shall be called to Christ and shall worship him in future.

2:10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 2:11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh. 2:12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

Joseph was then instructed to go to Egypt until it was safe to return home. Can you imagine anyone obeying God like that today? We are to obey far more than the ten commandments; we ARE TO OBEY every word of God which is consistent with the scriptures!

Please see this very important study on dating the crucifixion and the birth of Jesus Christ. THE 70 WEEKS PROPHECY Part 1: Dating the Crucifixion of Christ

2:13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

2:14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: 2:15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.

A virgin of David brought forth a son, he was born in Bethlehem, he fled into Egypt and the children of the region of Bethlehem were killed; ALL FULFILLING THE PROPHETS CONCERNING CHRIST!

2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men. 2:17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, 2:18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.

When Herod died the family moved out of Egypt and again obeying God from a dream, settled in Nazareth. Again fulfilling the prophets concerning Christ.

2:19 But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, 2:20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life. 2:21 And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.

2:22 But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee: 2:23 And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

Matthew 1-2 concerns the genealogy and the events around the birth of Christ as proofs of his Messiah-ship. The genealogy shows that Christ fulfilled the prophets by having a son of David through Joseph his physical surrogate family parent.

Luke restates this genealogy right back to Adam in Luk 3:23; Luke also confirms in verses 31-32 that the Christ Family was of the line of David.

The biblical term used here “conceived” does not mean what it does in modern English, as a meeting of egg and sperm; it simply means “being with child”.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin [“young woman”] shall conceive [Strong’s 02030 meaning being with child, not necessarily meaning conceive], and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

This is actually a prophecy of the birth of Immanuel the son of Isaiah as a fore-type of the birth of Christ.  The Hebrew actually means a young woman [the wife of Isaiah] will be with child and the translators substituted the misleading words “virgin” for “young woman” and  “conceive” for “be with child,” not understanding the concept of surrogate motherhood [pas Mary was] at that date.

The correct translation is: Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a young woman shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Immanuel [meaning God is with us] was the prophesied son of Isaiah as a fore-type of Jesus [Hebrew:  Yeshua; Salvation, Savior].  See chapter 7 in the Isaiah study for more.

The virgin birth of Jesus comes from the New Testament:   Luke 1:34  Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

The concept of surrogate pregnancy that we understand today,  was unknown by the translators in the days of the King James translators;  and John himself records that Mary was a virgin, not “known” by ANYONE.

It was the God personality who became God the Father, who by a miracle, reduced the actual Creator to the size of an embryo and placed him in the womb of Mary. There was NO sexual activity between God and Mary, such as placing his sperm inside Mary: which would have been adultery on the part of God.

While Jesus was born of a virgin of David and supposedly into the line of David; he himself said that he was not a son of David at all but only appeared to be so through being born into the family of David.

Jesus denied being a literal son of David. He was only a son of David by being born into the family of David and not by conception with God’s sperm and Mary’s egg which would be rape and adultery by God the Father!

Jesus was a son of David, because he was born into the family of David.  Yes, Jesus was born to Mary; but he was not conceived as a sperm uniting with an egg of Mary.  She was his surrogate mother!  Therefore we may say that Christ was born to a woman of the line of David, but was not conceived by Mary, David’s descendant!

Jesus told the Pharisees that he was not the son of David.

Matthew 22:41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 22:42  Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.

22:43  He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, 22:44  The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? 22:45  If David then call [David called Messiah/Christ: Lord, how then is Christ, David’s son?] him Lord, how is he his son?

Jesus [Hebrew: Yeshua] was the very Creator changed into the tiniest of human beings; fully giving up his God-hood to become fully human; and is now resurrected back into God-hood and eternal life as the High Priest of God the Father.

Was Jesus Christ man or God?

Quite simply: He was the Creator God, FULLY GOD; BEFORE he was made flesh!

Then He willingly  gave up his God-hood to become flesh and be placed in Mary as the smallest possible human being, then to be born fully human!

He then overcame the world and died for man, to be resurrected back to spirit, exalted back to being fully God!

This could never have been understood, until the modern scientific discovery of surrogate motherhood was understood.

Matthew 3

John Baptist proclaimed the message of Warning and Repentance; which is the true Gospel that all God’s people are to proclaim!

Matthew 3:1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

John prepared the way for Christ by calling all people BACK to godliness through SINCERE REPENTANCE.

3:3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

John was not interested in the pleasures of the physical life; and was dedicated wholly to the spiritual. His garment was of the gathered shed hair of the camel [camels coats thicken in winter and shed in spring like many other animals], like a hairy sackcloth of humility and mourning against his skin.

3:4 And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.

He began his ministry on the Jordan where there was much water to baptize in; this coming from the commandment for the unclean to wash themselves [in modern Rabbinic Judaism the Mikva] and expanded into baptism by John through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit [Which was confirmed by Christ who also baptized.].

The law that the unclean must wash [bathe] was the basis for the washing [washing away of the uncleanness of sin] of baptism.

The way to salvation is to SINCERELY REPENT from breaking God’s teachings and commandments, and then to be baptized [washed] in water as a commitment to: “Go and sin NO MORE!”  Anyone who willfully sins, sins against his baptismal commitment!  Any elder, leader or organization who does not sternly rebuke all sin, and teaches tolerance for sin; is not of God,  Today the brotherhood is full of wrongly baptized people who had no understanding that they were committing themselves to: “Go and sin no more.”

Quite the contrary; false elders have wrongfully baptized many without any proofs [fruits] of true repentance from sin; and actually lead people into sin by teaching a tolerance for sin while rebuking any zeal for keeping the Word of God.

Many DID repent and confessed their sins before God and were baptized by John.

3:5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, 3:6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.

When John saw many unrepentant wicked persons wanting to be baptized for a show of righteousness before the people; John refused to baptize the unrepentant until they had turned from their evil deeds in true sincere repentance.

To take the Passover worthily; we must examine ourselves and sincerely repent of all our unlawful deeds and fully commit to; “Go and sin no more.”

We MUST NOT justify ourselves by claiming to be the physical [OR THE SPIRITUAL] children of Abraham!  We MUST NOT think ourselves righteous because: “We are a part of some corporate church organization,” claiming to be the children of faith, the spiritual children of Abraham.

We Must NOT delude ourselves that we are right with God because we follow some man! We MUST BE righteous in our DEEDS, by repenting of all our commandment breaking and we MUST dedicating ourselves to diligently live by every Word of God.

Jeremiah  7:1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, 7:2  Stand in the gate of the Lord’s house [preach repentance], and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the Lord, all ye of [spiritual] Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the Lord. 7:3  Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways [REPENT] and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.

Do not deceive yourselves with words; thinking that you are righteous because of a name, organization or building. IT IS BY OUR ACTIONS THAT WE ARE BEING JUDGED; NOT by the false claims we make!

7:4  Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, The temple of the Lord, are these.

Matthew 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: 3:9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

We have a full article on this subject:  Bring Forth Therefore Fruits Meet for Repentance   Please consider this linked article an integral part of this post and please do visit it.

Those who do not turn away from sin and who do not bear godly fruit shall be destroyed. The unrepentant shall be destroyed and thrown into the fire.

Therefore repent and bring forth the good fruit of sincere repentance and godly obedience to our Father in heaven.

Do you not know that one of the Ten Commandments is to honour our father and our mother? and that if we break even one command or teaching of our Father in heaven: We also break the Ten Commandments?  The axe is about to be applied to the dead branches of today’s professing Christianity and their rejection into great tribulation may be as soon as late 2017.

Matthew 3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

John taught of Christ and the gift of the Holy Spirit, which comes through sincere repentance and baptism in water; and the application of the atoning sacrifice of Christ to reconcile us to God the FATHER; and only then is the GIFT of the Holy Spirit given and it is only given to those who obey God (Acts 5:32).

3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

John then speaks of the winnowing of wheat, where the grain is thrown into the air and fanned to blow away the chaff; separating out the chaff from the wheat. Christ shall thoroughly purge his harvest of grain separating out all chaff, winnowing away the unrepentant the lukewarm and the sinful.

The unrepentant who have no respect for the commandments and teachings of Christ; who  try to justify their sins by saying, “Christ will understand if we compromise with God’s Word”: Shall be destroyed in the fire of final judgment if they do not sincerely repent.

3:12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

John recognized Christ immediately.

3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 3:14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

Jesus who had no sin, then said that he needed to set an example of the right way for all the people.

3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered [permitted him to be baptized] him.

At this point God the Father gave a graphic demonstration of support for the Son as the Messiah. This does not mean that Jesus [Yeshua] did not have God’s spirit from the womb;

3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Matthew 4

Then Jesus was strengthened by the Spirit of God in the wilderness for forty days and nights.

Matthew 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

A lesson of Christ for all of the spiritually called out.

This is a profound lesson for Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread; that we are to live by the Bread of Life, Jesus Christ and the whole Word of God; which is what eating unleavened bread daily for the seven day Feast represents; the daily taking into ourselves of the very nature and perfection of God; through diligent study of and obedience to, all every Word of God the Father!

4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

The second great lesson is; do not try the patience of God.

4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone, [quoting Psalm 91] 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

The third lesson is to love God and do his will, and not to seek the pleasures of this world. We are not to compromise with any of God’s commandments, for anything that Satan and this world have to offer. We are to be absolutely loyal to our baptismal vows and to obey our espoused Husband and God the Father in ALL things!

4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

We are the servants of those whom we obey!

Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

It is time we WOKE UP and STOPPED following idols of men and corporate entities; and turned to a passionate zeal to follow Almighty God!

When we learn these lessons fully and sincerely; and we sincerely repent of past sins, dedicating ourselves to abhor all transgressions in future: We shall be very close to true godliness and the resurrection to the marriage of the Lamb.

4:11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Shortly after Jesus came out of the wilderness, John was arrested, and Jesus went north into Galilee.

4:12 Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee; 4:13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea [of Galilee] coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

Again the prophets are fulfilled

4:14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 4:15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; 4:16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

We know that Christ began to preach at the age of thirty in the autumn. Some of these gaps will be filled in by the other Gospel writers.

What did Christ preach?

He preached the way into the Kingdom of God crying: REPENT

4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Jesus taught that the kingdom was at hand, which became an apparent stumbling block for some when he died not establishing the Kingdom.  Yet he actually meant the way of salvation and entry into the Kingdom through his sacrificial death was at hand.

As he began his ministry Christ called out twelve disciple to help him and to be witnesses of all he did and taught.

These men were probably impressed with Jesus in their synagogue religious studies already, and perhaps they had worked and played together while growing up.

The general education process of the time was that after finishing basic education, a trade or career was chosen. These men chose various carriers and Jesus, always about his Father’s business would have associated with the greatest religious teachers in the land; And at the age of thirty  become Rabbi himself.

4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. 4:20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

Christ then calls two other fishermen also brothers, so that there are two pairs of brothers all fishermen of the same area, and therefore probably knowing each other well.

4:21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. 4:22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

Eight other disciples were also called, which is recorded in another place.

Jesus then taught in the synagogues and proclaimed the true Gospel message of Warning and Repentance and the Way Into The Kingdom of God; the Way of Salvation!

The idea that proclaiming a coming Kingdom, is the total Gospel; is FALSE!

It is a small part of the Gospel! The true full Gospel is the WAY INTO that Kingdom!

Many heard the message and came to him to be healed. The physical healing was a demonstration of the spiritual healing that would come with the application of the sacrifice of Christ to the sincerely repentant.

Christ’s power over spirits and over diseases should be a powerful source of faith for his people.

We need to repent and turn back to the teaching’s of Jesus Christ; who taught diligent UNCOMPROMISING obedience to all of the commandments of God; quick forgiveness of the repentant and destruction for those who will not repent.

4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. 4:24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

4:25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.

Then as today it is the leaders who teach falsely and corrupt the people.

The brethren have been deceived by the elders and leaders into thinking that loyalty to men is the same as loyalty to God.  Both the leaders and the people who follow them away from God will be cast into great tribulation.  The leaders for deceiving the brethren; and the brethren for departing from any zeal to live by every Word of God!

As very many people followed Christ at his first coming; the whole nation and the whole world will repent and follow him at his return!

Brethren, we are all unfinished products in the Master Potter’s hands!

Matthew 5

Matthew 5 contains those scriptures known as the Beatitudes  which will be studied extensively in their own section.

This post is short, being written with the expectation that our guests will go to the Beatitudes section.

Matthew 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: 5:2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Poor in spirit: a) humble, lacking in pretensions of learning and intellectual power; the lowly and humble of the world.

The poor in spirit are the humble before God who are teachable and obedient to their Father in heaven, as little children trust, seek knowledge from and are eager to please their parents. The poor in spirit are those who are contrite of spirit, with their pride and self centered sinful natures crushed out to fine powder [contrition] and blown away in the breeze.

Psalm 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Psalm 51:15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. 51:16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

It is the lowly of spirit who do not exalt themselves, but seek their God will all their heart, who shall inherit the Kingdom of God. The high minded who seek to exalt themselves and love the chief seats in this life, will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God.

Beware you shepherds who seek personal advantage and the chief places! You have your reward now.

Matthew 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Those who mourn and cry and sigh over all the evils of the day shall be comforted for they shall be exalted and shall enter into a Kingdom of Righteousness.

Ezekiel 9:4 And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

God’s angel is singling out those who love God enough to zealously keep His Word and who mourn over the wickedness of the church of God entities; who teach the brethren to follow idols of men and rebuke any zeal to follow the Word of God; who call the Sabbaths holy and then openly justify polluting them.

Once the zealous and faithful are marked out [removed] then the remainder who have rejected any zeal to keep the whole Word of God, will be rejected by Christ and cast into the furnace of affliction and correction; where the flesh will be afflicted to save the spirit.

9:5 And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: 9:6 Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient [those who think themselves wise] men which were before the house

Begin with the elders of the house [the spiritual temple, the Ekklesia] and destroy all those who do not hate evil and do not love God’s commandments enough to zealously keep them; loving “the corporate church” and false leaders; more than they love the Word of God. Being deceived into thinking that following men away from God, instead of fully following God; is the same as following God.

This is the correction of Laodicea (Rev 3); who shall be corrected as were those who did not love God’s commandments in the past.

Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Psalm 25:9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way. 25:10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

Those who are meek [humble] before God he will save, for they do his will, and keep his Covenant to KEEP all his commandments.

Psalm 149:4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Those who are consumed with zeal for the Lord of Hosts and his righteousness, shall be filled to overflowing with the Spirit of righteousness.

5:7  Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Mark 11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

We are to be pure and undefiled, without guile or deceit. Anyone who takes a small part of the truth and spins it to change the entire meaning of the whole truth, is a false witness and filled with guile, seeking to deceive: He IS a LIAR in the spirit and intent of the law.

This also goes to the subject of hypocrisy; of saying one thing and doing another. Such men will not see God in the first resurrection of the chosen; unless they repent.

5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

We are called to help reconcile men to God by preaching a message of warning and repentance; by proclaiming the Good News that man can receive salvation through sincere repentance, the application of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and faith in God, married to the works of keeping God’s commandments and doing God’s will.

5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

All of those who are filled with the righteousness of God; which is living by every Word of God: Will be persecuted from within and from without.

Satan will first pressure one from without to tire him of enduring; then he will persecute from within by labeling the godly righteous as “over righteous, self righteous or Pharisaical; finally if all else fails he will cause the lukewarm to drive out the righteous from the organizations and then attack them using both means to attempt to destroy the zeal of the righteous.

If you try to avoid trials by compromising: You offend God and will face HIS wrath!

John 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

The key here is “falsely”. If we are persecuted and condemned for faithful zeal for God and his commandments, then we have earned a rich reward from God our Father. On the other hand if we compromise with his commandments and become a bad example being properly criticized for our wickedness, we have also earned the correction of our God.

5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

There is no person of God who has not seen trials and persecution, because their zeal and faith convicts the worldly of sin. It is the example of passionate obedience to God the Father which excites such persecution from those who’s conscience is being pricked, for they reject the commandments through their compromising and rebellion to follow their own ways, even as they claim to be godly and obedient; which is hypocrisy.

John 15:21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. 15:22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

Matthew 5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

The zeal and faithful obedience of the passionate followers of God is the SALT which makes the earth with all its evil endurable for God; until the time of the mankind’s sincere repentance and the  restoration of God’s rule over all humanity.

It is our faithful obedience which sets us as a great light upon a hilltop; which makes us tasteful, desirable and acceptable to God. If we begin to compromise and turn away from passionate zeal for our espoused Husband, God our Father and their commandments; we have lost our savor and our light flickers out as we become just another worldly person. Then we will be rejected by our Maker as unfit, as per the above and (Rev 3).

5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Our light comes through the Holy Spirit of God within us. If we are filled with Christ’s Spirit and he is dwelling within us; we will be doing what he did; we will be filled with Christ-like passion for God the Father and his commandments. That will make us STAND OUT from the wicked and from the lax and lukewarm in a manner that cannot be hid.

The Spirit of God is the very nature of God the Father and the Son, which cannot be hid, unless we quench that Spirit and refuse to follow it in becoming LIKE God and DOING as God does.

5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Be passionately zealous for your God and his will and commandments that the light of the very nature of God may shine brightly from within you! Ultimately when they are humbled, the rest of mankind will acknowledge the greatness of God and your zeal for him and glorify God.

5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Christ came to keep and complete the Word of God by revealing the spirit and intent of God’s Word;,making it full; and making it binding in the letter and in the spirit!  Christ did NOT come to destroy his Father’s commandments, but to reveal their spiritual intent: and to set an example that we are to follow; zealously keeping the Whole Word of God in the letter and in the spirit and in the full intent!

5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

No part of God the Father’s commandments will  ever pass away, and ultimately all living men will be passionately keeping those commandments in BOTH the letter and the spirit. Then the law will be written on our hearts and not on tables of stone (Jeremiah 31).

5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

If anyone says that this or that is just physical, or only a “little thing”; consider these words. Indeed, to break the law in one point, is to break the whole law, therefore such a person will not even be in God’s Kingdom unless he repents, then he will be the least. Many, who think they are great now, may not even be chosen, or will be accounted least in the Kingdom of God.

5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees [who made God’s Word of no effect by their false traditions of men], ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

To be a Pharisee is to make the law of God of no effect by following our idols of men and our own false traditions; to be zealous for our own ways and not for God’s ways; to be exalting of men and organizations instead of being totally faithful to God and his law; to have a pretense of godliness without the power [the true Spirit] of godliness; and to serve with the lips and not with deeds; to be filled with guile, deceit and hypocrisy.

Those who would be pillars must be zealous for God and doers of his Word no matter what the cost, or they shall NOT be in the resurrection of the called out first fruits to eternal life.

God wants to save those he calls to himself and reward them with eternal life and a resurrection to spirit, but Satan wants to prevent that and will persecute and destroy the flesh of those faithful to Almighty God and his commandments

5:21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

The second great commandment is to love our neighbors and to treat them as we would be treated. We will be forgiven only as we forgive others.

If we lose our zeal for godliness the salt of our example has lost its savor to God.  Our light is diminished and our salt has lost its savor before God. If we are selfish for our own ways and false traditions and follow idols of men; and are lukewarm for the commandments and instructions of the Word of God; if we love our corporate “churches”  MORE than we Love God we have lost our savor before God!

Brethren, these instructions of Christ have the weight of God’s law! They are instruction from our espoused Husband as to how HE expects us to behave!

5:23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

5:24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

We are not even to give an offering to God while we have a dispute with others, but are to resolve that dispute first:

Matthew 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice:

If we cannot learn how to forgive others and get along now, how will we get along for eternity? These things are eternal!

Matthew 5:25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

Consider whether your adversary in the faith will go to God the Father for judgment. because of your sin.   Be very careful within yourself as to how you treat others in and outside the faith; for God the Father will hold all accountable for their obedience to these instructions.  And if there is a problem remember to keep the wisdom of (Mat 18).

5:26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

God is a fair but just judge and he will require every last “jot” of his law to be obeyed. No unrepented or uncovered sin will be allowed to slip by. ONLY repented sin is covered, and repented sin is that which we have committed to stop doing. No sin that we are not diligently trying to stop, will be covered by the sacrifice of Christ; no compromising with any part of God’s law will be tolerated.

This teaching that sin should be tolerated out of love for the sinner is a doctrine of Satan! For it prevents true repentance and sets the sinner on the highway to perdition.

The ONLY way to love the sinner is to warn him of his sin and encourage him to turn AWAY from that sin.

5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

This is difficult in the translation, as the word is Pornea and means sexual impropriety of any kind. This word pornea translated as adultery also means fornication, homosexuality and ANY form of sexual error.

Sexual sin of all kinds are a major problem in the this world’s religions today and going way back through history.

5:29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

This is an example for instructing that we should allow nothing to come between us and God. If you are willing to pluck out an eye, certainly you would be willing to give up restaurants on Sabbath. This is about passionate zeal for God’s commandments and is not about literally maiming oneself.

5:30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

It is for the breaking and compromising of God’s commandments that the unrepentant wicked shall be cast into Gehenna. It is time we woke up to that fact, and sought the Lord our God with all our hearts while there is time.

5:31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication [any kind of sexual disloyalty including abandonment of the spouse; or spiritual adultery against Christ by abandoning the faith; any habitual sin including beating a spouse, is spiritual adultery against Christ, being rebellion against the Word of God.  Those who habitually sin are to be cast out of the assemblies.], causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

The twisting of this scripture has caused problems. The word rendered “Fornication” is pornea which means ANY kind of sexual impropriety or disloyalty: Including adultery and homosexuality. This is not a matter of marriage fraud; as most couples would have discussed and be well aware of the virginity of their proposed spouse. This is about ANY type of marital infidelity.

According to Christ: The ONLY grounds for divorce is marital infidelity, [annulment can be made for a fraudulent marriage only if there is NO intercourse AFTER the fraud is discovered] which would include abandonment according to Paul. If you are have troubles; separate a few days and then come back together to resolve the matter; get a neutral mediator if necessary.

Divorce WITHIN the faith is FORBIDDEN, as it is sin; for it is a refusal to repent or to forgive [BOTH being sin] by the parties. Therefore if the adulterer/adulteress refuses to repent they are living in sin and are NOT in the faith, having morally abandoned the faith and their spouse.

In the same vein Paul’s adds the phrase “willing to dwell in peace” for the person who consistently and unrepentedly beats and abuses his/her spouse is the same as an adulterer in that he/she is living in sin and violating their marriage vows; NOT faithfully loving their mate. They are to be rejected from the assemblies, as Christ will reject us for our spiritual adultery in not keeping the commandments, and loving others more than him and his ways.

If we do something that Christ says is sin, because the church says it’s all right: WE ARE MORAL AND SPIRITUAL ADULTERERS! Christ WILL reject us!

5:33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: 5:34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: 5:35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. 5:36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. 5:37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

Be honest and straightforward in all your communicating, then there is no need to swear to the correctness and truth of an utterance.

5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

There will come a time when God’s servants WILL fight. The time is not yet and in this time we need to learn to submit to the authority of this world’s powers. The ultimate authority of that of God the Father and the Father has allowed Satan to rule this world until a new government is qualified to replace him.

We must learn under this harsh task master so that we can become good rulers knowing right from wrong in the coming Kingdom of God. By experiencing the harsh ways, we shall understand the consequence and the evil of those ways.

For now, we must let God use these evils to temper and train us as a master potter creates a new thing of beauty. In short God is using the trials of this time to teach and prepare us; to knock off our own rough edges, and to create a bride fit to share the Kingdom of God!

Quite simply we lack the power and the authority for this world is not our own. On the day that Christ comes with ten thousands of his saints, they WILL fight,  in righteousness at the direct command of Jesus Christ.

John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

Matthew 5:40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.

Brethren are NOT to resist lawsuits, and they are not to sue other brethren.

I can see where a defense might be needed against spurious lawsuits made by unconverted persons to extort, but consider whether it is seemly for saints to seek judgment against each other from this Satan controlled world. It is a disgrace when the saints cannot settle their own disputes and must go to “Satan” for relief.

5:41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

This is in reference to being compelled by lawful authority; in this case the Roman mail service. Obey the lawful governmental authority as long as it does not conflict with God’s law.

5:42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

This is a reference to God’s commandments, we are to give to the needy for their life’s needs according to our ability, and we are to consider that gift as an offering made to God, not seeking repayment, for God will repay. This is NOT a reference to supporting any business, or to support the lazy; but to help the genuinely needy with life preserving needs as we are able, while still fulfilling our own responsibilities to our families and creditors.

5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Consider that Christ gave his life for those which despised him, and he says that he will welcome and comfort those which hated him ignorantly. That is awesome true spiritual WISDOM. Why? Because at some point they WILL understand what they have done and will repent seeking forgiveness.

By fighting with enemies now, we put a stumbling block on their future repentance. We need to teach repentance from sin and obedience to God, and we MUST also set a Godly example of a better way. We should never hate others in return for being hated. The only way to return good for evil is to take the long term approach and understand the love and forgiveness of God for us.

Remember that we have ALL sinned and made our mistakes, remember how very much God has loved us and forgiven us; then we can begin to forgive others as he has forgiven us. For most of us our carnal animosity for those who misuse us is the hardest thing to overcome.

Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

Matthew 5:46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 5:47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Jesus Christ encourages us to become like God our Father and to be perfect as HE is perfect. It is the WILL of Jesus Christ that we become like his Father in heaven!

To do that, we must keep all of God the Father’s commandments with Christ-like zeal: NO compromise, NO complacency, No tolerance for sin [which is rebellion against the WILL of God the Father], NO lukewarmness: ONLY a Christ-like passion for God the Father and the whole Word of God.

ONLY when the Father calls us and we sincerely REPENT of our rebellion and commandment breaking, can we be justified by the application of Christ’s sacrifice! And ONLY if we then make a clear baptismal commitment to obedience to God the Father can we enter into an espousal agreement with Christ and be given the precious gift of his indwelling spirit to empower us to keep our commitment to obey the commandments.

It is Christ in us who enables us to overcome! Our job is to follow his lead at all times!

Revelation 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women [false religions, and false teachings of men]; for they are [faithful to our espoused Husband and keep his full will, following him wherever he goes and keeping whatever he says:  NOT with lip-service only, but in both words and deeds!] virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

Matthew 6

Jesus here teaches to be very careful to not trumpet our charitable works.  This does not mean that we cannot acknowledge what we do, but is about those who take great PRIDE and trumpet abroad their charities trying to impress others.  It is about not measuring a person’s righteousness by his charitable deeds instead of by his whole conduct.  In today’s world many hide great evil behind public charity.

Matthew 6:1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. 6:2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6:3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 6:4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

This is primarily talking about the attitude with which you help others; are you doing it out of a true love and generosity of spirit? Or are you doing it out of a desire to be seen and exalted by others, or to be considered as some good person by others; or to feel righteous and good about yourself?

Are you doing this to make some political points within an organization, about how righteous you are? Or so that you can feel powerful and in control, because you have funds to disperse and others are dependent on you? Are you doing this out of a genuine love for  God and man?

It is good and godly to help others out of pure and righteous motives; but if our purpose is impure it will lead us into error. Therefore, it is always better to give in secret, to keep our heart and motives pure and avoid being lifted up with pride in our “good works.”

6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Prayer is a petition to the King of the Universe, and when it is used for personal reasons it is a blasphemy and an offense to God our Father.

Those who pray to be seen and thought righteous by others, are using God for their own purposes and will NOT be heard by God. That includes all such prayer, including starting church services with a long and flowery prayer meant to impress the brethren. Such an insincere prayer is NOT heard by God. This kind of insincere prayer is a serious problem in the church.

While prayer should be made to God to open a Holy Convocation; it should be a sincere prayer to our Father with no thought of what the people will think of it.

It is also appropriate to give thanks for our blessings and food on occasion, but this should not be done to impress others nor should it become a vain repetition.

Some recommend family prayer, where the whole family gets together and prays together. It is good to teach our children to pray, but when they are ready, encourage them to pray on their own. This communal prayer can lead to sin, for persons will drift into speaking to influence or impress the others and so misuse prayer and lose contact with God the Father.

Most certainly, do NOT hold hands in a circle to pray as that is a witchcraft technique intended to focus the people and artificially psychologically unite them together with the leader in opposition to each person independently uniting with God. Always watch for such manipulation techniques that replace unity with God; with a unity around any person or group!

Prayer is communication with God the Father the very ruler of the entire universe; to misuse that privilege for our own purposes is to try and use God. It is a horrible sin.

Therefore, it is far better to hide ones self away in secret and to pray in private where we can pour out our heart to God in honest sincerity without fear of embarrassment or offending others.

To use repetition and inventing things to pray about just to fill in time is a great evil. It is wasting God’s time, and it is making a mockery of prayer and communication with God the Father.

6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Vain repetition refers to empty and meaningless repetition; it does not refer to a diligent seeking of an answer to a question or problem. Prayer beads are used by members of various religious traditions to count the repetitions of prayers, are not godly.

Prayer should be as short or as long as is needed, and it should be complete as to what is on our minds and needful to be said, not being some kind of made up excuse to feel righteous about how much or how long we pray. I am trying to say that it is our attitude and sincerity that are much more important than the length of our prayer. If we pray for a hour just putting in time, and rise thinking ourselves righteous, we have wasted our time.

We should not neglect contact with God and should be evaluating our own behavior and repenting daily, asking for forgiveness and the gift of God’s spirit of strength to empower us to overcome.

One more thing that is often overlooked in prayer is the attitude of GRATITUDE for all of our blessings. When we feel oppressed and feel down, sometimes we just need to count our blessings to stabilize our mood and get back to reality. In the face of trials and persecution we need to stop, take a deep breath and remember how very much God has done for us, we need to remember his promises for those who overcome, and we need to remember that he will deliver those who are faithful to him and who call upon him.

Also in our good times we tend to forget our God and we need to remain focused on all that he has done for us.

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

James 5:13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

We should remember the admonitions of Paul.

1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice evermore. 5:17 Pray without ceasing. 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 5:19 Quench not the Spirit. 5:20 Despise not prophesyings. 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

If we have a continual prayerful attitude, and do not quench the spirit through commandment breaking, and are diligent to prove all things by God’s Word, and are filled with gratitude and joy in God; we shall do well.

Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Acknowledge the Holiness and perfection of God.

6:10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

This is a very big point and should not be read over. We are to ask and seek that the laws of that Kingdom be written in our minds and hearts NOW!  This is not primarily about seeking that a kingdom come to the earth in future, although that is part of the meaning; the primary meaning is that we are to seek to internalize the complete nature of God NOW; to fully internalize and keep the whole Word of God which is the Constitution of the Kingdom NOW!

When Jesus began his ministry, he said: “Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand.”  He did not mean that he would establish a ruling kingdom of government over the world at that time.

He meant that the way into the Family, [the eternal spiritual kingdom] of God through his atoning sacrifice for sincerely repented past sin was at hand; Christ’s sacrifice making a way of salvation through his sacrifice for sincerely repented sin and a commitment to “Go and sin NO more!”

By asking that the kingdom come, we indicate our sincere repentance from seeking our own ways, and our longing that God’s Word and King should dwell within us; and ultimately fill the whole earth when Christ comes!

We are told to seek that God the Father’s will be done on earth as in heaven; that means that we are agreeing to keep God’s commandments and obey them without compromise in our own lives, while we are on the earth.

God’s Word is an expression, an explanation, of God’s will that we are to follow.  We are to love and rejoice in the will of God, the wonderful wisdom of his commandments and the gift of salvation from sincerely repented sins! It is also an explanation of God’s plan for humanity!  We are to live by every Word of God and to rejoice in God’s will and seek it in our own lives and in all things!

The Word of God is the constitution of his government in heaven:  in the lives of the faithful; and will be the constitution of the whole earth in future: For God’s will is defined by his law.

Anyone who says that Christ will tolerate or overlook willful sin and that they must not rebuke sin to maintain organizational unity should think about this; and anyone who prays as Christ has instructed and then is willing to tolerate sin out of a phony love is a hypocrite for he prays God’s will be done, and then tolerates the breaking of God’s will within the assemblies!

6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.

Ask for our genuine physical needs and do not ask amiss for physical selfish desires.

This instruction for prayer is FAR greater than mere physical needs!  It is about asking for spiritual daily bread, that we are to ask God to give us the unleavened spiritual Bread of Life and Truth. We are to ask that God enable us to fully internalize and properly understand God’s Word, and to give us daily spiritual growth and nourishment from the whole Word of God,

6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

We shall be forgiven, ONLY as we forgive others.  See verses 14-15 below.

6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Ask to be delivered from all temptations, and seek our deliverance from evil by Almighty God!  We are to back that up by avoiding those things that tempt us to compromise with the ways of God.

Do NOT try and overcome by our own strength, do NOT try and avoid trials by hiding our light, do NOT try and avoid persecution by compromising with God’s Word: Do NOT tolerate sin, rather RUN to our Fortress of Refuge and seek HIS Defense and Deliverance. We can no more overcome than Israel could overcome in Egypt.

We CAN be delivered by the Almighty Father who possesses the Kingdom and all Power and Glory forever and ever!

6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

6:16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6:17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; 6:18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

Please see this in depth article on Fasting.

Make spiritual gain your priority, above setting your hearts on worldly gainThis does not discourage working hard physically; it does encourage working hard spiritually, and faithfulness to the Word of God as the first priority.  Those who make physical gain their top  priority will often be led to make compromises in spiritual things.

6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

We are to spend our time seeking the things of God; In study, deep thought and reflection and in the practical application of the law of God. We are not to seek the things of this world, including its mammon. We are NOT to seek the adulation of men, or personal power, or advantage for ourselves; Rather we are to seek the mercy and love of God through our diligence for him and his ways. This is a question of focus and priority.

If our eye focuses on worldly things, we have become distracted from spiritual things and will compromise the spiritual for physical gain; which is wickedness.  If we would turn from the spiritual because of a lust for physical gain; then if we loved God, we would turn from the lust for worldliness to focus on spiritual things.

If we are single minded in love and faithfulness to God, we would never be diverted to lust after physical things and compromise with the whole Word of God.

6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

We are to be focused on and always be totally unshakably dedicated for God, to single mindedly and wholeheartedly seek out the things of God all of our lives; and NOT to compromise with godliness to focus on and seek the things of this world.  Don’t worry about physical things to the point where you would be willing to compromise with God’s Word to attain them.  Rather do the best you can while being totally dedicated and faithful to God and trust in God.

6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 6:26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 6:27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 6:28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 6:29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

This is about so much more that mouthing the words “your Kingdom come” at some distant time. It is about seeking the ways of God and the ways and laws of his Kingdom NOW, seeking to become a part of that Kingdom and to have a place in the bride of Christ. This is about internalizing Jesus Christ and his Father is become ready and qualified to have a place in the Kingdom of God.

Therefore focus on internalizing the full nature of God and achieving a place in God’s Kingdom, as that “Pearl of Great Price” which is worth all the things this world can give and much much more.

6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

Let us focus on becoming like God our Father in heaven and internalizing the nature of God, which is the Word of God, the very constitution of the Kingdom of God; instead of being willing to compromise with any part of God’s Word to gain some physical thing.

If we are dedicated to the things of God and refuse to compromise with them for the sake of some physical thing; the Eternal will give the precious incomparable gift of eternal life in peace and harmony with God and with other faithful persons.

6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Seek the righteousness of God the Father above all else! Seek that the Father’s will and law be written on your very heart and in your mind, seek to overcome that you may be among the chosen and have a place in the bride and in God’s Kingdom!

Dedicate yourself to a passionate love and zeal for the will, ways and commandments of God the Father and his Kingdom! Let him take care of the rest; for if you please him, he WILL take care of you! And if you suffer in this life, you will have your reward in the Kingdom of God!

This is a very big thing that should not be quickly read over. This is a request that God’s Kingdom come NOW;  with the writing of God’s Word in our minds and on our hearts (Jer 31234) so that we may have a place in that eternal Kingdom of spiritual life!

Matthew 7

We are not to condemn others based on our own prejudices, rather we are to let God’s Word judge all men, including ourselves.

7:1 Judge [condemn] not, that ye be not judged. 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

The word “judge” here is a reference to “condemning” others according to our own prejudices and does not refer  to making a judgment based on God’s Word about participating in the sins of others. We are to prove all things and that is making a judgment based on the Word of God about the scriptural veracity of a teaching or its error.

We can judge that some who blaspheme are sinning, because God has said: “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain”. That is not condemning, it is making a judgment call as to whether this action is right or not according to the Word of God.  It is God who has given the commandment,  and it is God who knows the heart and who will make the final judgment. Verse 3 is about hypocrisy.

Will we judge others for those things that we ourselves are guilty of?  Let us first zealously keep God’s Word before telling others to do so.  Today the Ekklesia is full of hypocrisy for teaching that the Sabbaths are holy and then routinely polluting them.

7:3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 7:4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

Examine ourselves first and then approach the sinner in love and hope, that you may be of help to him in his overcoming; do not say “thou wicked man I condemn you”. Do say “My friend the scriptures say such and such, and warn him in love.

Yet to the willful and unrepentant sinner, who insists on compromising with God’s law and tolerating sin, AFTER several warnings,

Titus 3:10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; 3:11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

1 Corinthians 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat. 5:12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 5:13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

1 Timothy 5:10 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. 5:11 Them [the elders] that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

Matthew 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Do not waste your time sharing the precious pearls of God with these who reject them. Give the warning message and if it is rejected then move on. Those in the Ekklesia who reject the things of God, do not belong in the Assembly and should go elsewhere.

Matthew 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

Speaking of understanding of the Word of God; if we are faithful to KEEP what we learn, then God will steadily increase our understanding; but if we do not passionately KEEP what we know of God’s Word; we quench God’s spirit and will receive nothing more and will lose what we have.

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

If you diligently seek and ask for the things of God, being willing to put them into practice; they will be given to you. Perhaps not everything that we want immediately, but God will give in his good time and wisdom.

7:9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? 7:10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

God our Father knows what we need both spiritually and physically. He will provide as long as we are doers of his will.

7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Serve God with all your hearts and do good to others; that is the will of God.

7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Few have the dedication to follow through with enduring and overcoming to become part of the chosen. God wants Kings and Priests for offices of responsibility for all eternity. He must be certain of our fidelity to him; therefore let us put him and his Kingdom FIRST at all times, and be passionate DOERS of his commandments. that you may have a part in the bride of Christ!

Like a marriage; salvation is a duel effort. God the Father must call people to the Son, and open our minds to Him and his Word; yet WE must respond!  Jesus Christ as the espoused Husband leads and enables, but those who want a part in the collective bride must FOLLOW HIM!

We MUST sincerely repent and We MUST commit to keeping God’s Word; to “Go and sin NO more!”

We MUST make every possible effort to overcome; and we MUST diligently seeks God’s help!

We are called to a marriage to Christ!  A marriage is a TEAM effort; two uniting as one. We as a part of the collective bride MUST do our part and that part is to follow Christ and obey God the Father; and we NEED their help to accomplish that!

We overcome through the power of Christ living in us through the indwelling of God’s spirit; we must also be willing to follow Christ and God’s spirit as it leads us to live by every Word of God.

The big problem in religion today is that people do not follow Christ and do not diligently live by every Word of God, instead they do what is right in their own eyes.  We have become righteous in our own eyes! and are wicked in the eyes of Almighty God, by doing what we think is right; instead of doing what God says is right!

Our part is NOT to do what WE think is right! Our part is to do what God SAYS is right.

We are to seek to grow in knowledge and understanding of God’s ways; we are to seek to become like God the Father with ALL our hearts minds and strength; but not ALONE! We are also to seek God’s help, diligently and consistently; for we ultimately can overcome ONLY by God’s power.

As God delivered Israel out of Egypt, he can and will deliver us out of the bondage of sin!

Christ overcame this world, he WILL overcome this world living in you! Even in Egypt Israel had to follow God out of bondage! So we must be willing to follow God in whatever he commands; that is our part.

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.

IF we loved God: We would DO what God says!

We must be willing followers of Christ and willing DOERS of God the Father’s commandments; for the sacrifice of Christ the very Lamb of God will ONLY be applied to the repentant who are committed DOERS of God’s law [Acts 5:32)!

Romans 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

Yes we have our part; we MUST be willing DOERS of the law!  We must diligently seek out God with all our hearts; and we MUST serve God ONLY!  and not idols of men with their false traditions!  When we are tempted to compromise with God’s commandments we must boldly declare in the name of Jesus Christ:

Matthew 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, GET THEE HENCE, SATAN: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Yes we do have our part, yet we cannot do it alone!

We MUST seek our God with all our might, follow him in all things, trust and obey him alone and serve him with passionate love! We must ASK for his spirit of power to overcome, we MUST diligently seek knowledge of his ways and apply what we learn as we learn.

We must reject temptation the second it rears its ugly head and hide ourselves in the armor of God.

We must fight the good fight, but if we rely on our Mighty One we are not alone in that fight against temptation, compromise and sin!

Alone we will fail, for we are no match for Satan the god-king of this world, but TOGETHER with our Awesome Beloved Father; the god-king of this world is NO match for us!

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

It is our FAITH in our Great God, married to the action of faithfully FOLLOWING Him and living by His every Word, that makes us strong!  It is our faithful service to our God which brings deliverance for us!

The whole armor of God is there for us; but we MUST put it on: We must USE it!

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

We MUST fight the good fight against the wickedness warring against us, USING all the help and strength that God provides!

Ephesians 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

We MUST fight to overcome, but we shall overcome by the power and righteousness of God the Father and Christ dwelling in and strengthening us; actually living in us through the Spirit of God!

Ephesians 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

Righteousness IS the keeping of all of God’s commandments! We MUST live in and by the truth of God, which is every WORD of God.

Ephesians 6:16 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

The Gospel of peace between God and man, is the Gospel of repentance and reconciliation to God. It is sincere repentance, an unshakable commitment to faithful obedience; and the gift of atonement, reconciliation and empowerment with God’s Spirit of power and a sound mind; which enables us to overcome.

We MUST DO our part and God will DO his!

Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

If we are filled with faith in the strength of our God; and we depend and put our TRUST in our God and His Word, rejecting any temptation to compromise with God’s law; God WILL deliver us.

Brethren, it is this lack of faith which has caused us to compromise with the commandments; and to turn the Gospel message of warning and repentance into a lukewarm business model inoffensive message. This in turn offends Jesus Christ and we will be rejected by him until we repent.

Each year at Passover time we study the mighty miracles that Christ performed for his people; and then we go and compromise with God’s ways out of fear of persecution or lust for mammon!

2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Ephesians 5:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Let us cover ourselves with the gift of salvation; given to the sincerely  repentant diligent commandment keeper; and fight the good fight, wielding the TRUTH, the WORD of God; which is the sword of the Sprit; for God is truth and his Spirit shall:

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:

Yes we MUST DO our part, yet we NEED God’s HELP!  We cannot overcome ALONE!

Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

A wolf feeds himself first, and ravages the flock.

Ezekiel 34 the entire chapter is about those shepherds in BOTH physical and spiritual Israel who are wolves and feed themselves with all the good things of the flock while neglecting to feed the flock with the truth is due season.

Those who are  political and seek the chief seats, who seek self aggrandizement and personal advantage; are the wolves hiding among the sheep. Today there are very many wolves who do not feed the sheep the true Gospel of: warning, repentance, and diligent faithful obedience to God and salvation. Which is the way of life, the very Word of God, and the way to salvation.

Ezekiel 34:1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 34:2 Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks?

Matthew 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

If any man teaches tolerance for sin out of a phony false love; if any elder tolerates sin [the breaking of God’s commandments, not the breaking of some organizational edict] without rebuke; if any organization does not preach a message of warning and repentance to the world; They are corrupt branches that will be pruned off at the judgment!

The True Good Shepherd feeds the flock with the words of truth; with the teachings that lead to salvation; strongly rebuking all sin. We are to follow that true Good Shepherd with the diligent KEEPING of the whole Word of God, so that the whole flock internalizes God the Father and the Son; growing into a full spiritual unity with God!

John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Matthew 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.  7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

The good tree is that Good Shepherd who is working to bring the whole flock into a fullness of unity with Christ and the Father! We are to follow that Good Shepherd who gave his all, his very life for the Father’s flock and did not seek his own.

We are to follow that example that was set for us, and faithfully serve the Father by feeding his flock with the very Word of God, the very nature of God; without fear or compromise; regardless of what men think or do.

There are some good shepherds among you even now, who teach the true way of salvation and are alert watchmen discerning the signs of the times. They may be kept down, ridiculed and even persecuted by others, yet the Father will reward them.

Luke 12:42 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

12:43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

12:44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.

Matthew 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

The evil servant.

Luke 12:45 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;

To abuse others and seek his own pleasures.

12:46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

12:47 And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

12:48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

You shall know the good shepherds by their love of God and their diligent keeping and teaching of the commandments of God and by their diligence to do the will of HIM who called them.

Matthew 23:11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.

23:12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Those who internalize the nature of God the Father and Jesus Christ; who become one with them in total spiritual unity, through a deep love for God and all the things of God, those who love the passionate keeping of all of their commandments and who set a good example of godliness and FEED THE FLOCK with the good pasture of the Word, watering them with the Spirit of Godliness, are building on the foundation of the Word of God: Which shall NEVER be moved.

Ephesians 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

Matthew 7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

The words of Christ are not taught  today, because they are NOT KEPT!  It is because the Word of God exposes the many false shepherds among us!  It is because the Word of God cuts sharply into the very heart and spirit of our organizations and convicts us of our sins and egocentric complacency; and our lack of Christ centeredness; exposing our almost total lack of Christ-like zeal for God the Father’s will and ways!

Jesus Christ stands at the door of each of those called to him; knocking (Rev 3), calling us to repent of our self righteous idolizing of our own ways; calling us to a diligent dedicated passionate obedience to the commandments of God; calling us to a zeal for the keeping of God’s Word and instructions; calling us to sincerely repent of our self seeking embracing of worldliness.

The wolves pretend to feed the flock; the better to ravish them.

It is only by reading and doing these words of Christ, that we begin to learn to discern between the holy and the profane; between the wolves and the true shepherds and sheep; for truly the wolves do disguise themselves diligently, and can only be discerned through a proving of all things by the scriptures.

Matthew 7:28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: 7:29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Christ had the authority of the Word of God, because he taught, stood on and lived that Word!

Any person who teaches the very Word of God, has the authority of the Word that he teaches.

Christ said to keep the Father’s commandments!  Christ’s authority was of God the Father, because he stood on and taught what the Father had commanded him!

As long as he taught what the Father had commanded; Christ was speaking in the Name Of, and by the Authority Of: The very King of the Universe!

John 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

I also have absolutely NO authority whatsoever!  and neither does any man; no matter if ordained or not; and regardless of what office they claim!

Yet, if what is said is the truth, then it has the inherent authority of that truth!  Therefore judge the words of ALL men by the whole Word of Almighty God!

Matthew 8

After the Sermon on the Mount and the Beatitudes, Jesus and the disciples came down from the mount.

A leper then came to them in faith deeply moved and convicted to repentance and faith by this sermon on the Mount.

Matthew 8:1 When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. 8:2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 8:4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

Here Christ commanded this man to keep the law and go to the priests, as a witness of his healing by Christ.

Then a centurion [likely a Roman Gentile] hearing of Jesus, came to request a healing for his servant.

8:5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, 8:6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. 8:7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

This soldier understood that Jesus had authority over sickness, as he had authority over men.  This understanding became Real Faith, and the Faith became the works of faith in  exalting Christ.

8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. 8:9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

This man had a good understanding of authority and recognized that Jesus had authority over all things; in effect he acknowledged Christ as the Messiah, and was the salvation of BOTH Israel and the Gentiles. This man was filled with Faith in Christ as the Deliverer of the world. And he trusted and acted on that faith!

The following is a hard saying.   It is a reference to the centurion as a Gentile; with Jesus saying that many Gentiles will enter the resurrection to spirit because of their FAITH, while many of the children of the kingdom [Israel] will not enter in because of unbelief.

8:11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west [many Gentiles shall be called and will enter the resurrection to spirit from around the earth because of their  great FAITH], and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. 8:12 But the children of the kingdom {the faithless of the called out, who lack the faith to keep the Word of God will not have a part in the early resurrection to spirit]  shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Those who have the faith of Abraham, married to the works of Abraham; will enter the Kingdom of God: While the faithless compromisers shall be kept out.

This is a clear warning that there are many of faith who diligently serve God, who shall be chosen for God’s Kingdom. While faithless compromises and preachers of a false corporate Gospel [wolves and false brethren] will not be among the chosen [even if they achieve great heights of authority within some corporate organization today] and will NOT be in the resurrection of the chosen first fruits.

8:13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

It is our FAITH in Christ, married to DOING what he has instructed; that shall make us spiritually whole!

8:14 And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever. 8:15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: 8:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

As the physical is a reflection of the spiritual, so Christ can heal the spirit as he did the flesh.

Matthew 8:14 was on a Sabbath Day

Someone has said that because Christ healed Peter’s mother in law on a Sabbath and she rose up to serve him, that means that she cooked on the Sabbath.

Of course to “minister” could have been as simple as offering them some wine or a glass of water, or a bit of food that had already been prepared on the preparation day; therefore this idea that she cooked on Sabbath is a tremendous stretch.

The scripture and its companion.

Matthew 8:14 And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and sick of a fever. 8:15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

Mark 1:21 and they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. . . . .

Mark 1:29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. 1:30 But Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her. 1:31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.

Luke 4:31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days. . . .

Luke 4:38 And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her. 4:39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.

We can see in all three versions that Peter’s mother in law was healed of a fever in the privacy of their home with a few disciples present. This was  AFTER he had finished teaching on the Sabbath; had walked to the house, had healed the lady, and she would have rested for a short space.  It is a gross assumption to say  that she had served them by cooking on the Sabbath day before the sun had set!

The issue is the jumping to a false conclusion that “ministering” meant cooking, or a false conclusion that with the healing late in the day, the sun had not set on that Sabbath when she began serving them.

Since Christ would not have permitted her “ministering” to him unlawfully; there are three issues: 1) Was it still Sabbath;  2) did she cook, 3) is cooking on Sabbath unlawful?

let me start by saying that Christ does not change and that he was the God of Israel who gave them the commandments in the first place. Since he does not change and he declared that not so much a punctuation point of the law would be done away; we must obey the same law that he gave to Israel.

Jesus Christ kept the law without compromise and fully in every point, for he gave it and he first received it from the Father.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Now the commandment

Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

We are not to do any work on the Sabbath or annual High Days. Except that we may perform acts of mercy; respond to major crisis; and do those things specifically commanded by God for the Sabbath and Holy Days.

We are not to require any other who is within our gates [under our authority, power or responsibility] to work, no not even our animals.

20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

The Sabbath day is a memorial of the physical creation, and as such is an acknowledgment of the Creator and our obligation to obey him in all things as our Creator Father. This day is HIS, the time belongs to HIM and is to be used as HE instructs. This is HIS time which we are to spend with HIM to learn of HIM.

This day was created for Adam and Eve and ALL their descendants; that is ALL humanity. Therefore it is a sin to cause or encourage others to break the Sabbath. It is also a prophecy of a spiritual creation in six thousand years followed by a one thousand year millennial rest in his presence.

To buy anything, including food and drink, on Sabbath or High Days; is to encourage others to work on Sabbath or Holy Days, it is to partake of, encourage and participate in the sins of others.  It is setting a bad example for others, it is a sin because buying is causing others to work, and it is the sin of hypocrisy by paying others to do work that we would not lift a finger to do on Sabbath or High Days ourselves!

If you would not take a job in a restaurant on Sabbath or High Day; then paying others to do so is hypocrisy: And if you would take such a job, it is the sin of Sabbath or High Day breaking.

What then, of the actual act of cooking?

First cooking is either our own pleasure or it is work and in either case it is forbidden. We are not to work on Sabbath and neither are we to do our own pleasure.

Isaiah 58:13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:

58:14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

It is because we take pleasure in our own ways and not in the things and commandments of God, that we are obviously under a curse in this latter day. And it is because of Sabbath pollution that Israel went into captivity and will do so again.

The law says: you shall not work nor cause others to work!

God commands through his prophets that we are not to do our own pleasures on HIS Sabbath and Holy Days. That should be enough, but now we come to cooking being specifically singled out.

Exodus 16:23 And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; [on Friday in preparation for the Sabbath day]  and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning. 16:24 And they laid it up till the morning, as Moses bade: and it did not stink, neither was there any worm therein.

Here God tells Moses very plainly that they are to seethe [simmer or boil] or to bake [as in any dry cooking] on Friday as a preparation day for the Sabbath.

16:25 And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field. 16:26 Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none. And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.

1 Corinthians 10 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

And what happened? The people would not do as God had commanded, even as they try to grasp at any pathetic vain straw to justifying disobeying God today; in an attempt to do their own thing, instead of obeying their God, to this very day.

Exodus 16:27 And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none. 16:28 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?

How long will we, who call ourselves spiritual Israel and God’s people; sin like physical Israel did? Let us rest from our gathering [seeking food and goods] and our cooking on the Sabbath, devoting our time to our Great God; instead of to our own pleasures.

16:29 See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. 16:30 So the people rested on the seventh day.

Later first Israel and then Judah were sent into captivity for polluting the Sabbath.

After Judah was sent into the Babylonian captivity for Sabbath breaking and idolatry some of Judah were repentant in Babylon and allowed back into the land; and then they quickly fell back into sinfully buying food and goods on the Sabbath, so that Nehemiah had to take a stand for God and HIS Sabbath against the people; commanding them to commit themselves to refuse to buy anything on the Sabbath!

Rather than STOP profaning the Sabbath and Holy days many in the Ekklesia reject Nehemiah; claiming that that was just for his day!  What arrogant pride to reject the clear command of Almighty God not to do their own pleasures on HIS Sabbath Day.  This is not just for those folks in Nehemiah’s day!  It has been recorded and preserved for us today.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

God’s Word to us by Nehemiah

Nehemiah 10:31 And if the people of the land bring ware or any victuals on the sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy it of them on the sabbath, or on the holy day:

Yet these people then quickly reverted to polluting the Sabbath once again.

Nehemiah 13:15 In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals [FOOD] .

So Nehemiah corrected the Jews once again.

3:16 There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem. 3:17 Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day? 3:18 Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the Sabbath.

Nehemiah rebukes the people in very strong words reminding them that they had gone into captivity for polluting the Sabbath. Now surely those who went into captivity had many other sins as well; but the root sin was Sabbath pollution! That is cooking and buying FOOD on the Sabbath and Holy Days!

Why? Because Sabbath pollution shows a root LACK OF RESPECT, for the Creator and his ways; and a desire to exalt our own pleasures over HIS commandments!

The Sabbath is a test commandment in that it is based on pure obedience out of RESPECT for God and HIS commandments, because there is no natural explanation for that law. All of the other basic ten commandments have natural explanations and good reasons: The Sabbath is a matter of pure RESPECT for the desires of our Lord!

Compromising with and polluting the Sabbath is a symptom and a sign: of a lack of respect for God; a willingness to put our own pleasures BEFORE the will of our God!

It came to the point that Nehemiah had to FORCE the people to respect the Sabbath by locking the city gates on the Sabbath!

What a great shame! What a great shame, a disgrace and an execration; that the various groups of those calling themselves God’s people today, pollute God’s Holy Sabbath Day which is from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset; in the same fashion that was sternly rebuked by Nehemiah and by Almighty God throughout the scriptures!

3:19 And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day. 3:20 So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice.

3:21 Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the Sabbath. 3:22 And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates [Of the city], to sanctify the sabbath day.

I echo the prayer of Nehemiah: Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.

We are NOT to do any cooking or buying of food or drink, or any other work;  on a weekly Sabbath or a Holy day!  and we are NOT to do our own pleasures on GOD’S Sabbath, or on HIS Holy Days!

We are to make the things of GOD our pleasure on HIS time!

Exodus 12:16 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.

Exodus 12 is a history of the coming out of Egypt; as they marched out of Egypt after burning what was leftover of the Passover that morning; Israel was in a unique “ox in a ditch” situation on that very first Feast of Unleavened Bread.

We are told not to build any doctrine in one scripture and yet men have taken this ONE scripture and used it to not only justify cooking on the High days of ULB; but on ALL High Days!

This statement about preparing food is NEVER again repeated for these ULB High Days and is NEVER applied to ANY other High Day! Indeed, on subsequent High Days the command not to work is doubled, making these Annual High Days even more special. The command for the High Days is to do NO SERVILE [work of any kind] Work [labour}, a double emphasis!

The very first Feast of Unleavened Bread was a special situation, just like the very first Passover was a unique occasion; BOTH requiring unique instructions. Later, Christ and his disciples and indeed the Jews went out of their homes on Passover night, and they used Passover as a PREPARATION DAY for the Feast of ULB High Day!

They prepared on Passover, and did not work including cooking on the High Day of ULB.

Mark 15:42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, 15:43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.

Luke 23:53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid. 23:54 And that day [Passover] was the preparation [day for the Holy Day], and the sabbath drew on.

John 19:30  When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation [Passover was a preparation day for the Holy Day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread], that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,

Since that first Holy day of being driven out of Egypt and after the next Holy Day of the Exodus as they had just crossed the sea were very special true “Ox in the ditch” situations; they were permitted to prepare food on those two special High Day occasions; however food preparation was forbidden on all subsequent Holy Days!  Including subsequent High Days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread as is plainly shown by the scriptures.

In conclusion;

To say that someone “ministered” to Christ on the Sabbath, is an assumption; since the sun could have already set, and serving can have nothing to do with cooking.

This is nothing more than a shallow attempt to justify polluting the Sabbath by claiming something that is just NOT there. Ministering is serving yes, yet she was most likely serving them AFTER the sun had set; and could easily have served their needs completely and entirely WITHOUT cooking, being faithful and therefore having properly prepared the previous day. For all we know, all they needed was a little water!

To pollute the Sabbath based on a personal assumption, is indicative of a desire to justify doing what one wants to do, contrary to the scriptures; and it reveals that the person does NOT want to please God, but wants to seek their own pleasures on God’s time.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever; the scriptures are filled with admonitions to keep the Sabbath Holy and condemnations for polluting it.

We are clearly told NOT to buy food and drink, or to work, or to do our own pleasures on God’s Sabbaths and Holy Days.

As Israel went into captivity for their lack of respect for the laws of God and for polluting the Sabbath and doing their own thing; WE are also at the very point of going into captivity for the same reasons. We have the record of the past for our instruction, we are supposed to have God’s Spirit: WE ARE SUPPOSED TO KNOW BETTER!

Please do study the word Sabbath in the Major Prophets; to learn of the great anger of God against those who pollute his Sabbaths; and of the great blessings that come from faithfully and zealously keeping God’s Holy Sabbath Day!

Then in Capernaum many people heard Jesus teach in the Synagogue on the Sabbath.

After teaching the people, Jesus then healed the Centurion’s servant and subsequently went to Peter’s house and healed Peter’s mother on the evening near the end of the Sabbath, and those who had heard Jesus’ Sabbath preaching found the house and began to gather there to here more of Jesus’ doctrine and to be healed.

It is self evident from the throngs who sought Jesus out; that it is highly probable  that the people detained Jesus until very late on the Sabbath; before, being weary he healed the Centurion’s servant and then went to Peter’s house to rest.  Great multitudes thronged the house in Capernaum the next morning and the weary Jesus decided to escape by boat to find a little rest.

This is evidenced by Jesus’ answer to the scribe who wanted to become his disciple,  that he had no place to hide from the crowds.  Jesus’ statement was a warning to the scribe of the cost in hard work and weariness for those who would follow him at that time.

8:18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side. 8:19 And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. 8:20 And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

This is not about Christ having a home as some have supposed.

Jesus is here, on the spiritual plane; warning this man that those who follow him will have no place in, or part with this world. This is a reference to the dwelling in tents at the Feast of Tabernacles which is to teach that those of faith have no place in this society and are strangers and travelers in this world, seeking a better world and citizenship in the Kingdom of God.

Hebrews 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

11:14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. 11:15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.

11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

Our citizenship is in the Kingdom of heaven

Matthew 8:21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. 8:22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

This is also not as it seems; Christ was not saying that it is wrong to bury the dead; he is saying that the absolute priority for any converted person is his obligation to follow God the Father through following Christ. We are to let NOTHING come between us and God; EVER!

A lesson in faith.  One must also look at the lesson in this for us today.  It is so very very easy to be upset and discouraged by all the trials and temptations, and storms of life that beset us!

As the disciples were afraid of the fierce storm in their small boat; we also often fear for the storms of life that come upon us, often very unexpectedly.  At such times we must remember what these disciple did!  They turned to and called on the Captain of their Salvation, to save them!  They did not turn to the other men in the boat; they turned to their Savior and Deliverer!  Let us remember them and turn to our Mighty One for our deliverance in all life’s trials, and when our faith is weak call upon Almighty God to heal our unbelief and fill us with HIS faith!

8:23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. 8:24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. 8:25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

We are to faithfully follow Christ “withersoever he goeth,” regardless of temptations or trials and the tempests of life that we encounter.  We are not to be enticed into compromise with God’s commandments or the instructions of Christ; at any time or for any reason!

We are to trust in the great power of our LORD to deliver us. Even if we should have to prove our loyalty through poverty, or sufferings, or death; God WILL raise us up if we endure to the very end and overcome through faithfully following Christ and the keeping of the commandments of God.

We are NOT to water down our proclamation of the Gospel into a false business model outreach, nor are we to tolerate sin. We are to march onward like loyal, faithful, passionate children of an Awesome Father!

The Great God has proven over and over; that he CAN and WILL deliver his people who are faithful to him!

Fear not!  for we have BOTH God the Father and Christ caring for us, as long as we are faithful to them. It was nothing for Christ to calm the sea; or to plague Egypt and deliver Israel, or to divide the Red Sea, delivering his people and destroying all the army of the enemy.  Jesus Christ has authority and power over death itself!

We have a Master who is a Mighty Man of War; the Lord of Hosts [armies] is his name!

Before him the Seas turn back, the mountains quake and the enemies of his people are swept aside as small dust!

We have lost sight of the Greatness and the Might of our Deliverer; we have become focused on men, corporate organizations and the things of this society; We mouth the words, but we lack the faith to ACT and PERFORM the DEEDS of Obedience and Faith!

Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?  8:27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him! 8:28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way. 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

Now comes a situation where demons are cast out of a man and they are permitted to enter a herd of swine.

This too teaches us a spiritual lesson; that all wickedness can be removed from the called out by Jesus Christ our Deliverer; BY HIS DELIVERANCE!  This man did not seek Christ!  rather Christ was sent to deliver him!  It teaches that Christ will make a man clean through HIS Word and Power; and that wickedness and uncleanness and will perish; washed away by the water of the Word!

This situation again demonstrates the power of Christ that the demons who hated him were compelled to obey him.

Matthew 8:30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding. 8:31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine. 8:32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.

8:33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils. 8:34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.

These people so feared the power of Christ that they asked him to leave; that is a wrong fear which comes through cognizance of guilt of sin; just as Eve and Adam feared and hid themselves after they had sinned. For surely there could have been a great repentance, if they had been ready to give up their sinful lifestyle; instead they desired to remain in their traditions and sins and refused to repent, rather calling on the teacher of truth to be quiet and leave them. They clung to their sins and would not repent, rejecting the one who by his authority over evil convicted them of their sins.

As Abraham said to the rich man in his torment; though one rise from the dead, they will not repent. Today things are no different, people will cling to their traditions and sins, even if one rose from the dead to warn them. They will not change until their very fears come upon them and then they will remember the warnings and turn to God. Yet at this time a few will respond, as Ezekiel was told to hide only a few hairs in his garment.

This event had great significance for Mark and he reports this in even more detail.

Mark’s Version

Mark 5:1 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

Now after demonstrating his power over the elements Jesus was provided an opportunity to demonstrate that he had power over whole legions of demons. This would have helped to increase the faith of the disciples in Christ. Note that a legion typically had about 5,000 members. Whether this was a true full legion, or simply using the word “legion” as a designation of a very large number is not known; but the numbers of the unclean spirits was very large.

When we have a crisis of faith, remember the power and authority of God:  Who delivers all who enthusiastically FOLLOW God and keep the whole of GOD!

5:2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man [Matthew says TWO men] with an unclean spirit, 5:3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: 5:4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

5:5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. 5:6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, 5:7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

5:8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

5:9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. 5:10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

The incident of the swine.

5:11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. 5:12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. 5:13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

The local people then feared the power of Christ; but instead of repenting they begged him to leave them alone. How like Israel they were; Israel who waned a man to be between them and God; even as we fear and want a man or organization to stand between us and our Husband; the MIGHTY ONE who calmed the sea and casts out the legions of Satan.

5:14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. 5:15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

5:16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine. 5:17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

The delivered man chose to go with Christ; but was sent to go tell his friends.

We who have been called out of worldliness and sin are to remember the POWER of our Deliverer and be full of faith in HIS power to deliver his faithful servants. We  have also been tasked with telling others of our salvation; which is the preaching of the Gospel.

5:18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. 5:19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. 5:20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

Then Jesus and his disciples came back across to Capernaum.

Brethren, there are many trials for the zealous and faithful follower of Christ. Remember that God’s power to deliver is unsurpassable; and if we press on and overcome through HIS strength dwelling in us, which is given to those who obey GOD; HE has power over the grave to deliver his faithful from death itself!

Matthew 9

After the healing of the demonic by Gadara they returned by ship to Capernaum.

Matthew 9:1 And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.

9:2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

This event is also covered more extensively by Mark.

Mark 2:1  And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

2:2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

2:3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

2:4  And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

2:5  When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

By forgiving sin Jesus revealed that he had the power to heal physically, which physical healing is an allegory of spiritually healing from sin.  Christ said “thy sins be forgiven thee”; thus revealing that he was the Creator; for only God can forgive sin, as was clearly understood by the scribes.

Matthew 9:3 And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.

9:4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? 9:5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? 9:6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. 9:7 And he arose, and departed to his house.

Christ openly tells them that he had the power to forgive sin; to heal the spirit as well as the flesh.  This amounted to a claim of being the Messiah the Christ.  The people rejoiced and the leaders saw Jesus as a competitor and challenge to their leadership; just as religious leaders see any zeal for living by every Word of God as competition against their supposed authority today.

9:8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.

Matthew the tax collector is called to be a disciple and apostle.

9:9 And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

At this point Mathew was added to the disciples as one of the twelve.  Then as Jesus sat to eat in Peter’s mother’s house in Capernaum, sinful people came to him to hear his teachings.  So it will be when Christ comes as King of kings and all nations and peoples will seek out God’s Salvation.

9:10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.

Here Jesus does not condemn medicine but plainly uses the metaphor of the physician treating physical maladies as a reference to the Great Spiritual Physician, Jesus Christ; healing our spiritual sins.

9:11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? 9:12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

God does not want sacrifices over and over for continual repeated sins; God calls us to sincere repentance from sins and God will forgive us for those past sincerely repented sins and apply the sacrifice of the Lamb of God to us; yet we are also commanded to:  “Go and sin no more”!

In short God wants sincere repentance and demands that we STOP the sinning that brought the need for such a tremendous sacrifice.  Those who teach that Jesus will tolerate continuing and willfully repeating sin are spiritually ignorant or liars!  We are called OUT of sin, not called to remain in the Egypt of bondage to sin!

9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Christ was now beginning to make a point of reaching out to the sinful and the despised in that society.

9:14 Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not? 9:15 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

9:16 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. 9:17 Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

As the new wine cannot be put in an old container; God’s Spirit cannot be placed in the old sinful man. A person must repent and become a new person dedicated to God and his commandments; before God will give the gift of the indwelling of his Spirit. For the nature of God cannot coexist with sin and the rebellious nature of Satan.

The sinful person MUST sincerely repent of their sins and stop breaking the commandments!

Anyone who teaches tolerance for sin, or compromises with God’s law; has not yet repented of breaking that law; and cannot receive God’s Spirit. He is a WOLF in the flock!

A great falling away has taken place in the Church of God and all its major groups, and we do not even realize it!

We have gone from the zeal of first love for God; into a lax, lukewarm, complacent,. compromising attitude towards the things of God, as we turn away from the power of God and do what we want, instead of what God has commanded.

9:18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.

Such amazing faith! Where is our faith that we cannot even proclaim a message of warning and repentance for fear of the ungodly, or out of a desire to impress the wicked and have them follow us; instead of teaching them to follow the whole Word of God?

9:19 And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.

And as they were walking:

9:20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 9:21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 9:22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

These incidents display the awesome power of Christ and what that can do when coupled with the repentant FAITH of the believer.

9:23 And when Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise [Wailing in mourning], 9:24 He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. 9:25 But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.

The father had faith and he was the responsible party. The others had no faith and were driven out.

This is somewhat the Ekklesia; those of faith will trust and follow Christ; and Christ will raise them from the grave of death; those who do not have faith will laugh the zealous to scorn and except they repent they shall have NO part in the resurrection to spirit..

In the end, it is those of faith, married to the works of zealously following the Word of God, who will be the chosen at the resurrection of first fruits.

Mark’s account.

Mark 5:35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? 5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

5:37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

5:38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. 5:39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.

5:40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. 5:41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.

5:42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. 5:43 And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

Matthew 9:26 And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.

After hearing of the dead raised to life, two blind men cry out for mercy.  This is an analogy that when Christ comes to the earth to rule; the spiritually blind of this world will seek the light of the knowledge of God, and they will be spiritually healed; their spiritual eyes and understanding being opened!

9:27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us.9:28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. 9:29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. 9:30 And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it. 9:31 But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.

Now Jesus casts out a demon; revealing that he has power over even the wicked spirits.

9:32 As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil. 9:33 And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

At this point the jealousy of the religious establishment becomes very clearly visible. So it is today, as the people are split into group after group with many seeking the Chief Seats and personal leadership, being jealous for the chief offices.

They have something in common with each other in that they all want followings after themselves and are jealous of any zeal for the Word of God.  They attack any zeal for God’s Word, demanding that the people follow them as idols of men, instead of being zealous to follow God’s Word.  They condemn any zeal to keep the Word of God and teach zeal for themselves instead!

9:34 But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.

This will be covered in Matthew 12.

9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

This is like the world today. There are a great many who are seeking righteousness and peace, but are unable to find it. Many false teachers have come to lead the world’s [and the Ekklesia] peoples after themselves.

The final false prophet will occupy the papacy and will be able to deceive many because he appears to fill the need and desire of the nations for a secure peace and happiness, with a solution to the world’s problems. Now the world is almost ready for the harvest, with great masses of people looking for salvation from all their troubles.

In the next few years this longing will intensify as the world lurches from crisis to crisis and the people will be humbled to accept the only source of salvation.

Then the harvest will be ripe and ready for the coming of the Lamb of God with his saints. then God’s Spirit will be poured out on all flesh (Joel 2:28); and the laborers [early first fruits] will be ready to bring in the harvest into the family of God!

9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

The Lord of the harvest is God the Father who calls out his laborers!  Pray that God will call many into the collective bride of Christ, and that she will be perfected and made suitable for the marriage of the Lamb!

Brethren, we are NOT called to rule as this world’s leaders rule, like the god-king of Egypt ruled! We are called as servants and laborers of God to bring in the harvest of humanity into the Temple and Family of God!

Matthew 10

Matthew 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

The 12 disciples are named and given power.  It should be noted here that these names are English forms, of Greek forms, of Hebrew names; for example James was really called Jacob  [Yacov], Jesus was named Yeshua in his own language; John was actually named  Yohanan (יוֹחָנָן), “Graced by God”, or Yehohanan (יְהוֹחָנָן), “God is Gracious”.

10:2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 10:3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; 10:4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

The twelve were commanded to go to the people of Israel including Judah.  It was later that Paul was sent to the Gentiles.

10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Christ commands them to preach the same Gospel of warning and repentance that he himself was preaching, giving them the power to heal, raise the dead and cast out unclean spirits; which is the sign and seal of the disciples of Christ.

Preach, the kingdom of heaven is at hand; which refers to internalizing the Word of God, and the laws of God’s Kingdom written on the hearts of the called out; and those faithful being representatives of God’s Kingdom among the people; and to the coming millennial Kingdom of God.

10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Those proclaiming the TRUTH of God have a right to live by their labors and to be supported reasonably by the hearers.  That does not mean living like an Arabian king as some have; it means a reasonable living, as they focus on the work and not on physical pleasures.

10:9 Provide [Do not provide for yourselves] gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, 10:10 Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat [the spiritual worker is entitled to the support of those he serves].

10:11 And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy [Is among the faithful to God]; and there abide till ye go thence.

This clearly shows that it was intended for God’s teachers to have their needs modestly provided for by those who received benefit from their labor of  teaching. The laborer being worthy of his wages.

10:12 And when ye come into an house, salute it. 10:13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

Stay with people [a house] of good godly reputation, which receives the Gospel with joy; and if that is not proved out, then leave that house.

10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. 10:15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

If people will not hear and respond to the words of the scripture and the calling to God, leave them and warn other cities. Those who will not repent and turn to God shall have their judgment and great will be their fall.  This includes today’s Ekklesia.  Christ will not always strive in warning; the day is fast approaching when the unrepentant will be rejected into great correction for idolizing men and refusal to be zealous for the whole Word of God.

10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

People of God are to behave wisely and are to be as harmless to others in their actions as their zeal for God will allow;  Never compromising with their zeal to passionately follow the whole Word of God.

Here Christ reveals why!

We are to preach a Gospel of warning and repentance boldly, and that will bring persecution; we shall witness to kings, concerning the truth of God and NOT about some vague strong hand. It is very important and absolutely imperative that our example fit our teachings! If we teach the way of peace between men; then we are to set that example, even if we are being abused; so that not one can charge us with any hypocrisy or giving an uncertain warning by not practicing what we teach! .

10:17 But beware of men [In the corporate assemblies] : for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues [congregations and corporate churches]; 10:18 And ye [some of you] shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles [And a witness to the unconverted].

Study the scriptures diligently and be prepared to give an answer and put on the whole armour of the Word of God, but do not fear interviews with  leaders or with anyone, because God will bring your studies to remembrance and will inspire you as to what to answer them.

10:19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 10:20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

We are to study the scriptures diligently and practice what we learn, so that we can learn even more and receive a better understanding through the DOING of the Word; and then at the needed time God’s Spirit will bring to remembrance those things that you have learned which need to be said on that occasion. We are to prepare by study and enthusiastically keeping God’s Word; which will internalize the nature of God within us; so that we shall have the necessary answers in our hearts when the time comes to give an answer.

10:21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. 10:23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

This warning is to the twelve and also to all who should follow in their footsteps. The zealously faithful to God WILL be persecuted by this world and by the faithless within the Ekklesia.

Those who desire the things of this world will perish with them. Those who desire houses or lands are not serving God but mammon; it may be that God will provide houses and lands, but our heart should not be set on such things; we should be set on God and his ways and be prepared to suffer as Christ suffered; for the servant is NOT greater than his master, and we are clearly warned that we SHALL suffer in good time.

10:24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

10:25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house [they called Christ the leader of the demons; Satan] Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household [the faithless will also call the zealous for God evil]?

In due time the workers of good will be made known, and those who work evil shall be revealed.

10:26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

Do NOT fear the false leaders in the assemblies, or those in this world; who would persecute and kill you, for God knows the truth and He knows your love for him. There is nothing that shall not ultimately be revealed, and they shall learn that God has loved those who have enthusiastically served him.

You who are filled with zeal for God the Father and his Word: FEAR NOT, be filled with courage! God loves his faithful.

Revelation 3:8 I know thy works [love for and faithful zealous obedience to me and my commandments] and: behold, I have set before thee an open door [of access to the Father], and no man can shut it [God knows that you will allow NOT man to come between you and your God, so closing that access via idolatry]: for thou hast a little strength [you are personally weak having very little strength and rely on God], and hast kept my word [zealously keeping all of my instructions and commandments], and hast not denied my name. [You have acknowledged and accepted Christ’s authority over you, enthusiastically keeping all of his word, instructions and commandments; as a good servant to his Master and Lord].

Those false elders and leaders who condemn zeal to keep the Word of God and demand that people follow them as their idols of men; will be corrected by Christ until they sincerely repent!  Then they shall worship God and learn zeal for God from those they had previously condemned!

3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

Christ will make those who claim to be converted, yet who deny him by exalting men and organizations above him, and are therefore enslaved in the chains of sin; Christ will take those faithless religious leaders and men who persecute and condemn the zealous; and will bring them to sincere repentance in the furnace of affliction.

Then they will come to the faithful and acknowledge that they were wrong and that God has loved those zealous for him.  The persecutors will then seek knowledge at the feet of the faithful who they had condemned; and they shall worship GOD at the feet being taught by those faithful and zealous for God, who they had previously condemned.

Matthew 10:27 What I tell you in darkness [secret], that speak ye in light [openly]: and what ye hear in the ear [from God], that preach ye upon the housetops [SHOUT from the Roof Tops!].

Fearlessly proclaim the truths that Christ taught to his disciples; to all men; and that includes those falling astray in the Flock.

Never compromise with the Gospel of warning and repentance into a false business model outreach!  No Never!

Fear and respect Almighty God:  NOT men!

10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 10:29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 10:30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 10:31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

An innocent child with a loving parent, rushes to leap into his arms, finding protection and comfort there; but when that child is cognizant of guilt, when they have done something very wrong; they fear correction for their sin.  It is not the righteous who need fear correction, but the evil doer; indeed God defends those who love and keep his Word!

Here Christ says to fear God who can destroy BOTH body and spirit; showing that there is NO immortal soul and Satan has lied when he says that we shall not die.  Yet God the Father CAN give immortality, which eternal life is a gift of God for the sincerely repentant and faithful overcomer.

Jesus teaches us to stand fearlessly on the Word of God; no matter what anyone else says; and regardless of the titles they apply to themselves, they have absolutely NO authority if they are departing from the Word of God.

Almighty God has AUTHORITY and the Word of God has AUTHORITY;  People who teach contrary to the Word of God have no moral authority whatsoever!

ALL moral authority belongs to God; and when any man is not consistent with the Word of God; he has absolutely NO moral authority at all!

Jesus Christ is ashamed of the moral cowardice and lack of faith of those who fear men and are ashamed of Jesus Christ and the Word of God.

Have courage and be strong to stand up and give an answer to those who would condemn you for your zeal for the sanctity of the Sabbath, the Biblical Calendar, or any part of living by the whole Word of God.  Arm yourself with the truth through prayer and study and then fearlessly KEEP what you know to be true, and be courageous to give an answer to all who would condemn you!

10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Ultimately Christ will bring peace, but he will do so by destroying the wicked who refuse to sincerely repent.  At the moment the faithful and diligent called out are an infinitesimal minority in the world and even in the Ekklesia, which has fallen away from their zeal for keeping the Word of God.

Right now the godly are being persecuted from within the Ekklesia and God is allowing this to TEST our zeal for HIM!  Will we turn away from God to idolize men; or will we be passionately faithful to follow the Lamb of God withersoever he goeth and to passionately KEEP the whole Word of God?

Jesus Christ came to divide the righteous from the faithless; to divide the zealous to keep his Word, from the zealous for following idols of men!

10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 10:36 And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.

Christ’s message is a call to peace through reconciliation and unity with God!

That message is offensive to the carnal mind which will not be subject to God’s commandments! Therefore that message will divide the faithful from the faithless of this world; and yes, it will divide the faithful from the faithless man followers in the Ekklesia.

Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh [and seek the things of the flesh as their priority] cannot please God.

Matthew 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

If we are to exalt Christ and God the Father above our parents and children; how is it that some would exalt  idols of men, houses, lands and personal pleasures above the Word of God?

Why do we say that the Sabbath is holy and then regularly pollute it?  With the very excuse that buying in restaurants on Sabbath and High Hays is for our own pleasure?  In doing this we confess that our own pleasures are more important to us than any zeal to keep the Word of God!  We judge and condemn ourselves with our own words!

10:38 And he that taketh not his cross [is not committed to his burden of trials to the very death], and followeth after me [in all things], is not worthy of me.

If we are not ready to follow all the instructions of Jesus Christ, and ALL the commandments of the law, through any and all persecution, to the death; giving up ALL for the Pearl of Great Price; Then Jesus Christ says that you are NOT worthy of HIM!

How many have been wrongfully baptized not understanding this commitment? How many have lost sight of their commitment in this wicked world and these lukewarm church of God Groups?

Our commitment is to God the Father and Jesus Christ is a commitment to endure all, give up focusing on things of the flesh; and to focus on internalizing the nature of God and the Kingdom of God, as our very nature.

That is the commitment we made at baptism; the commitment that most have forgotten.

10:39 He that findeth his [carnal life of worldly pleasures] life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

If you seek to save yourself from persecution, and to save the physical life by recanting the things of God and compromising with his commandments; you shall surely not be in the resurrection of first fruits; you have sold your spiritual birthright of leadership for eternity, for the bowl of the pottage of worldly comfort! Shame, Shame and Double Shame for following the sin of Esau!

Those who focus on God and his Kingdom and love the Eternal enough to give up the things of this world to the very death; shall have a martyrs reward!

Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Matthew 10:40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

This who respond to the teachings of the truth of Christ, are responding to Christ.

10:41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

To reject the truth of God is to reject God.

1 Samuel 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

Matthew 10:42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones [the faithful little ones] a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

And those who persecutes the zealous for keeping the whole Word of God, shall also have their recompense.

Matthew 11

Jesus and the twelve went out separately to preach in all the cities of the region.

Matthew 11:1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

John having been in prison since near the baptism of Christ, sent to inquire concerning the news he was hearing.   How did Jesus respond?  Did he make some claim to a title?  or did he point to the fruits of his ministry as evidence of his mission?

Today many people have made false claims about themselves that they are prophets or apostles, in order to impress and to deceive many to follow them astray from their zeal for God.  Just as Jesus warned us would happen in the Ekklesia in (Mat 24).

11:2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, 11:3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? 11:4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: 11:5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

11:6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

When John asked if Jesus was the Christ, Jesus did not make any boastful claims; instead he pointed to the fruits of his ministry!

How very unlike the boastful braggarts in the church of God today, who feel the need to loudly proclaim themselves apostles and prophets; WITHOUT any fruits of that calling! In order to impress or intimidate people to follow themselves as idols of men, away from any zeal to keep the Word of God!

11:7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 11:8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.

Jesus here points out that John was not a worldly great man, dressed in the finest and demanding the finest and chief seat for himself; John Baptist  was a poor and humble man of God.

11:9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. 11:10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

Christ identifies John with Elijah in Malachi 4:5. Malachi plainly says that Elijah will come before the day of the Lord; therefore John came before Christ at his first coming, and another in the same spirit of Elijah will appear before Christ’s return.

Malachi 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

Matthew 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven [That is, he that is changed to spirit will be greater than he who is in the flesh] is greater than he.

Here Christ is saying that it is not the importance of a person in this life that matters; it is whether they please God and are chosen and changed to spirit and given the gift of eternal life; which is the important thing.

Today people make a big deal about claims of apostleship or of being prophets; I tell you that the prophet is NOTHING, and the apostle is NOTHING but mere men. They wake and sleep, they eat and eliminate, they are tempted and are passionate men; Just like everyone else!

The men are NOT important! It is the MESSAGE of truth that IS important!

We ought not to be awed by claims of such offices!  We are commanded to prove out such claims by the Holy Scriptures!

Even then we are to consider that the men are only messengers; and it is the MESSAGE that is important; and that HE who SENDS the message is far more important that he who delivers the message!

Yes, we can be impressed by the deeds of such men of God, but that should never distract us from the fact that Almighty God provided the understanding, the inspiration, the very message; and the conversion and the gift of faith to those men.

NEVER let your respect and love for a man, replace the respect and love for God that should be your chief joy!

11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence [is persecuted], and the violent [the wicked attack the faithful] take it by force.

From the ministry of John, as John prepared the way for Christ by calling all to sincere repentance on a spiritual level according to the New Covenant of Jer 31; to replace the old Mosaic Covenant Kingdom of Israel.  Which New Covenant then officially  began by the advent of Jesus Christ, and the sacrifice and resurrection of the Lamb of God.  From then on  the spiritually zealous to keep the whole Word of God in the letter and in the spirit; have been persecuted and attacked in this world, because they are not of this world.

11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

The prophets prophesied of Christ and the New Covenant Kingdom of God until John and with the coming of John, the lamb of God also came to confirm the prophets and the New Covenant with his death and resurrection.

11:14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. 11:15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Jesus then points out that the people hear the words, but do not act on them, do not keep them are like people hearing music and not dancing!  The people hear and do not act on what they hear.

This is a quote from a prophecy of Messiah the Christ from:

Ezekiel 33:31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.

33:32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

33:33 And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.

Matthew 11:16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, 11:17 And saying, We have piped [made music] unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.

Today’s generation is like those children who are NOT joining in and following the Word of God; we are NOT following the lead of Christ!

We are not responding to God’s instructions and commandments. Christ is calling and we are NOT responding; Christ has given his instructions and we are not doing anything about them. Like the children; Christ has played the song and we have refused to dance!

No matter what is done the religious establishment of that day and of today, will reject the true message by rejecting the messenger.

11:18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. 11:19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

We reject the message regardless of the messenger!

11:20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not: 11:21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

It will be better for the extremely wicked who repent; then for the elders and leaders of today who reject any zeal for the Word of God in favor of their own ways; refusing to repent and follow the Word of God; and then calling themselves godly!

11:22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

11:23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 11:24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

We claim to have God’s spirit and to be a godly  people, we act as if we are the greatest Christians since the creation; yet we have exalted ourselves and our traditions above all that is called God; refusing to follow our espoused Husband’s leadership.

Jesus then thanks God the Father for revealing spiritual things to the humble and faithful; while keeping them from the proud and self exalting.

11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. 11:26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

God the Father cannot be know except the Son reveal him; and no man may come o the Son unless he is called to him by the Father.

11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

Those who are wise in their own conceit and think they know it all and have need of nothing (Rev 3); will not understand God or his Word; for such understanding is given to the contrite of spirit, the humble and repentant man!

James 4:6 Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

4:9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Mathew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest [from bondage to sin]. 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

The commandments of God are easy and light; they are made to SEEM difficult because of the persecution that Satan inspires. It is Satan’s ways that are harsh and result in suffering, decay and death. God’s law liberates us from Satan and his ways of death;

James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

The blessings of peace, happiness, joy and life eternal; come through sincere repentance and faithful obedience to God’s Blessed Law of Liberty from bondage to sin!

Matthew 12

Matthew 12:1 At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn [grain, in 1611 English corn meant a kernel as of grain]; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of grain and to eat.

Notice: They gleaned a few heads of grain as one might take an apple to munch; they did not pay for this, they did not cook it, and they did not take a basket to harvest, nor did they bear any burden in removing any to their homes.

12:2 But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.

Those with this same attitude who seek excuses for sin should know that there is NOTHING WRONG with eating on the Sabbath, as long as the cooking and preparation is done before Sabbath. These men did NOT cook, pay for, or in any way do any amount of work beyond grabbing a handful of grain and eating it.

Actually Sabbath preparation is easy and takes little time. The term “preparation day”, does not mean that it takes the whole day to prepare; it means that all necessary preparation is to be done on that day. Simply having ones clothes ready, shining ones shoes, filling the gas tank and making sure there is enough food ready, is all that is really needed.

12:3 But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him; 12:4 How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests? 12:5 Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? 12:6 But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

Of course David and his men were fainting with hunger and fleeing for their lives, while the priests are commanded by God to do what they do on Sabbath! And that is the point! Jesus is saying that he was the very Creator of the Sabbath; and they had his consent as LORD of the Sabbath!  Just like the priests have his permission to keep their commanded  Sabbath activities;  and the act of mercy towards David in his genuine “Ox in the ditch” situation had Christ’s approval as the LORD of the Sabbath.

As the priests worked on Sabbath in obedience to Christ commanded Sabbath activities, and acts of mercy towards man and beast are appropriate; so they are for us today.   Further as we shall see; the Sabbath was made for man to rest and enjoy; and suffering, even of hunger is to be relieved, this is done through proper preparation, but one may grab a handful of grain or an apple off a tree to serve an immediate need, as one is walking along!

12:7 But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

It is certainly permissible to do the commanded Sabbath activities, to relieve suffering and to eat on the Sabbath; however we are to properly prepare for the Sabbath and Holy Days on the preparation day.  We are not to buy or sell; or to do any regular work, including food preparation and cooking on Sabbath or Holy Days.

12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

Here is the core of the issue; they were being instructed by the very Lord of the Sabbath!

12:9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue: 12:10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

The narrative continues about the Sabbath day, with the people asking him if it is lawful to heal on the Sabbath, trying to trap him into admitting that his conduct was Sabbath breaking.

12:11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12:12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days. 12:13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

Christ explained that it was lawful to heal and alleviate suffering on the Sabbath, and then healed the man in front of them.

12:14 Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

The Pharisees then went out in anger, feeling that they had lost face being humiliated in front of the people; instead of rejoicing at this new understanding being presented to them. So it is today.

12:15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; 12:16 And charged them that they should not make him known:

Christ preached to the masses and kept himself from the Pharisees by remaining in the crowds and charging his disciples to keep his plans and location hidden from others.

12:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 12:18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles. 12:19 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. 12:20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. 12:21 And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

Christ did not lift a finger to physically defend himself, he did not call for others to build an army to defend him or take the kingdom at that time; but preached sincere repentance and the righteousness of obedience to God; which we are to do also; until he will come to take the Kingdom and in righteousness shall be victorious.

Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

The religious establishment of that day did not rejoice at the knowledge being given to them, or for the healings; but condemned themselves by condemning any zeal for the WORD of God;  and upholding a zeal for their own false traditions. Just as the COG Groups condemn any zeal for keeping God’s Word today.

Matthew 12:22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. 12:23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

Jesus declares that his power over Satan and the demons was the proof and seal of his godliness.

12:25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: 12:26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

The kingdom of God is the sum of the nature of God, as defined by the Word of God, and is entered through sincere repentance and the application of the atoning sacrifice of the Lamb of God.  The Kingdom of God was among them; because Jesus Christ the King of that kingdom under the Father; was with them, with power over all spirits!

12:27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. 2:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

Christ here claims that he is of God, because he has the power of God the Father in heaven, over all of the spirits.

12:29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

He asks how is it that he has power over these spirits if he is not from God.

12:30 He that is not with me is against me; . . .

Here we have the truth that the church of God is not any one corporate entity, but consists of every person who is FOR Christ and DOES what Christ has commanded! Any corporate Group that says that they are the true church of God is either ignorant or LYING.

The Ekklesia are those persons who follow the Lamb withersoever he goeth; and that lets out all the major Religious Groups and distills the true Ekklesia down to those individuals who are zealously faithfully DOING the commandments of God; as Christ himself commanded us to do.

12:30 . . . and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

He who does not faithfully keep all of the commandments of God; IS creating DIVISION between the brethren and GOD!  He is scattering the brethren from Christ and NOT gathering the brethren TO Christ.

Let’s get this straight: WE are called to UNITY WITH GOD! and not to unity with other folks in some organization! Those who are united with God will have that common ground as the foundation of unity with each other!

UNITY WITH GOD; is the foundation of physical unity in the spiritual Ekklesia!

To try and achieve a physical unity of men; through compromising with our unity with God; is counterproductive and spiritually catastrophic!

It is those who teach men to tolerate sin, to compromise with the commandments, to teach a false Gospel of inoffensive lukewarm skim milk; in a desire for unity among brethren: It is such men who preach organizational unity that are dividing God’s Ekklesia! By scattering and separating the Ekklesia from their GOD!

The Holy Spirit is the nature of God and leads us to internalize the nature of God as defined by the whole Word of God.  Any spirit that teaches us that Christ will tolerate sin, or that we should tolerate sin; works against God’s Spirit which leads us to zealously keep the whole Word of God.  Such a spirit is NOT God’s Spirit but a counterfeit spirit which is of Satan and is antichrist; for Christ kept the Word and commanded us to do likewise!

Blasphemy against God’s Spirit, is teaching that Christ will tolerate sin [which is rebellion against the Word of God].

Blasphemy  is willful and unrepentant sin, which the sinner justifies and refuses to repent of; desiring to decide for himself what is right and wrong and refusing and condemning any zeal to keep the whole Word of God.

Just like the religious establishment of those days, today’s COG groups are standing on the very precipice of this justifying of their own ways and adamant refusal to repent of rebellion against any zeal for keeping the whole Word of God.

Brethren most of today’s Ekklesia, including the leaders and elders are in  grave danger of being hardened into the unforgivable sin of justifying their own ways against the Word of God!  It is for that reason that they will be vast into the loving correction of the great tribulation:  So that by afflicting the flesh the spirit may be saved!

The great tribulation is the loving correction of a merciful God: and is designed to humble and SAVE today’s wayward Ekklesia, and to prepare the whole world to keep the laws that bring eternal salvation!

12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against [rejects the Spirit of God and rejects God’s Spirit’s lead to follow and keep the whole Word of God] the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

This refers to a refusal to repent and accept the lead of God’s Spirit; a rejection and hardened refusal of zeal for the Word of God, to do as we decide for ourselves as Eve and Adam did in the garden after having tasted and fully understood the good things of God.

This is a reference to the converted who turn away; deliberately and willfully from a zeal to follow and keep the whole Word of God; choosing instead to follow idols of men.

This is not referring to slipping in a temporary temptation, but to a deliberate and willful insistence on doing things our own way and knowingly rejecting any zeal for God’s ways; which is a  common practice today.

This is a reference to calling the Sabbath and Holy Days holy and then polluting them because; “The minister said it was all right;” a reference to following idols of men in rebellion against any part of the Word of God.

Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

This is a hard thing, yet I tell you the truth: All the major Church of God groups have rejected the lead of God’s spirit and insist on doing what they think is right, instead of what God has said is right. They refuse instruction from the scriptures, saying in their hearts that they know it all and have need of nothing (Rev 3); and they will NOT repent before God; instead exalting their leaders, organizations and traditions ABOVE the Word of God.

These groups as organizations today and most of their members; are in grave danger of the great and unpardonable sin; for they are rejecting God’s ways for their own ways. The ONLY thing that is saving them right now is that they have for the most part been deceived into this attitude. It is for this very reason that the Great Tribulation is essential to SAVE the COG organizations from the lake of fire!

It is imperative that the flesh be tormented, to save the spirit from destruction.

ONLY when their fears have come up in their very faces; will they wake up and humble themselves before their God in repentance for their IDOLATRY.

Matthew 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

No halfway measures; NO lukewarm attitude; NO going through the motions and paying lip-service, while doing things our own ways: ONLY a whole hearted commitment to total faith and obedience to all of God’s commandments, will and ways: Will do.

12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

This is addressed to the Pharisees, the teachers of the day; and it applies to the teachers and elders of every age, including today’s professing Christians. If we teach zeal for God and his commandments, it is because that is what is in our hearts.

And if we teach a zeal for organizational unity and  idols of men a lack of zeal for God’s instructions, will and commandments:  That is what is in our hearts.

We shall be required to give an account for every word that we teach; If we are zealous for God, we shall teach that zeal and we shall be justified before God.

If we separate men from God by teaching idolatry of men and organizational unity; with faithfulness to men, organizations and the traditions of men:  We shall be condemned by Almighty God.

12:38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Christ here gives a  major sign of his Messiah-ship; yet many signs were already given as Christ told the disciples of John. The dead are raised, the sick are healed, the blind see and the true Gospel of repentance reconciling with God and empowerment to overcome sin is taught

12:41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. 12:42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

This same thing shall come upon this generation of the church of God. The Queen of the South traveled a great distance to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and today’s Ekklesia turn up their noses at the wisdom of God; preferring their own false traditions. The men of Nineveh repented at the warnings and today’s brethren in the main will not repent of their idolatry of men.

12:43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. 12:44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. 12:45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

If a man repent and is cleansed; committing himself in baptism to keep all of God’s commandments with enthusiastic zeal, right through all persecution even to death; if he have the Passover sacrifice of Christ applied to himself; and if he is then given the gift of God’s spirit; tasting of the wonders of God: If he be thus cleansed and then he turn back into Egypt and the uncleanness of his former sins: His state will be far worse then in the beginning.

So it is with all who accept the things of God with rejoicing, only to later turn away from zeal for unity with God!

Those who after their initial love and zeal for the Word of God, later turn towards making an idol out of corporate organizations, leaders and false traditions; turning away from any zeal for unity with God and his Word;  by having tasted the truth of God and then turning away, are more guilty than those who are sinning in ignorance.

12:46 While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. 12:47 Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. 12:48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

Now to stress the point that it is unity with God that is paramount, he declares that it not his immediate physical family, but ALL those who are united with God who are his true spiritual family.

12:49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!  12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother

Today many teach the brethren that: This corporate organization is your family of faith, you must tolerate the weakness and sins of your brethren, for we are all brothers in the faith.

Brothers are children of the SAME Father!

If any person will not obey his heavenly Father and will not accept correction from his Word and follows idols of men and the false traditions of men instead of being zealous to follow our Father in heaven: he is NOT a son of the Father in heaven, and he is NOT the brother of the faithful!

Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 12:8 But if ye be without [will NOT endure correction] chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Here is the key; in the very words of Christ: Matthew 12:50  “For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.”

Our unity is to be with God; through the enthusiastic faithful DOING of the WILL of the Father; especially as revealed in his LAW and WORD!

Unity with men as a priority over unity with God and the keeping of all God’s commandments without compromise; is idolatry and emotional spiritual adultery against our espoused Husband.

If we do NOT do the will of God the Father; if we DO NOT KEEP all of the commandments of God with true passionate zeal: We are NOT the family of Jesus Christ!

We are in unity with sin; and in unity with the father of sin! We have abandoned UNITY WITH GOD!

Those who teach organizational unity as a priority over zeal for God and his commandments; are deceivers and scatterers of the flock away from Christ and the Father!

Matthew 13

Matthew 13:1 The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side. 13:2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

The parable of the Sower

13:3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow; 13:4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: 13:5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: 13:6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 13:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: 13:8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.

13:9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

This is explained in v 18. The term “Who hath ears to hear, let him hear” means that all who hear will not understand; the understanding is for the called out who have repented and are filled with God’s spirit faithfully obeying the commandments and growing in knowledge as they follow the lead of that spirit.

Daniel 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

The wise are those who keep God’s commandments with passionate zeal; they shall understand. The wicked are those who compromise and tread on God’s commandments, tolerating sin out of a phony kind of false love. They shall NOT understand the things of God for they will not follow his spirit nor accept his truth.

Daniel 9:4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;

9:5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:

Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 8:6 For to be carnally minded [focused on the physical] is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh [who are worldly] cannot please God.

If we are focused on the physical, which is our own ways and pleasures, we cannot please God!  To please God we must focus on him and become like him through diligently internalizing the very nature of God.

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Matthew 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you [The zealous to KEEP the Word of God] to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given [Understanding of God’s Word is withheld from those who have no zeal to keep God’s Word and instead follow their own idols of men and false traditions.].

13:12 For whosoever hath [a zeal to learn of God and to Keep God’s ways], to him shall be given [the zealous “Doers of the law”  shall grow in godliness and increase in spiritual understanding] , and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not [Those who have no zeal to learn or to KEEP the Word of God, shall lose God’s spirit and all the understanding that they had had before their falling away], from him shall be taken away even that he hath.  [This is why today’s Ekklesia have no spiritual understanding in the great falling away, which I will cover in detail in Mat 23-24.]

13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: 13:15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Again this points to a healing of the spirit through sincere repentance and the application of the Passover sacrifice of Christ. Only those who are called and converted,  and who are passionately keeping all of God’s commandments, and following the lead of God’s spirit, fully internalizing the nature of Jesus Christ; only those who are diligently seeking understanding of the things of God; will understand!

That is NOT about those who believe that they know it all and have need of nothing. They cannot understand; for they will NOT seek out the truth. Only the DOER, the HUMBLE SEEKER shall find!

13:16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. 13:17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

Those people in the first century who were looking for and seeking Messiah at his first coming: FOUND HIM!

Those who were not zealous for the Word of God and for the prophets, thereby understanding the times and expecting and searching for him: DID NOT recognize him! So it is at this later day!

Finding him, they were taught of him the miraculous way to salvation.

In this latter day there is much that has been forgotten or has been sealed until the end; which Christ is now revealing to his servants.

These things are hidden from the self willed, and the ignorant who profess themselves wise; and are understood by the humble seeker after truth. For at the end time, Dan 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

The Explanation of the parable of the Sower

Matthew 13:18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

First the uncalled who hear the Word.

13:19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

Then the person who lacks commitment, and may not have understood the price that he will be required to pay will NOT be prepared to lose a home, family or friends; or will not be prepared to suffer persecution and death for this way.

13:20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 13:21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

Then the ones who fall to the temptation of worldly pleasures.

13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

Then the one who maintains his zeal for Christ and God the Father, and remains grafted into the true vine of Christ

13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

How de we bear fruit? By repentance from sin, by SEEKING the things of God, by FOLLOWING the lead of God’s spirit, and by diligently and fearlessly applying what we learn!  Then our knowledge and understanding will multiply and we shall become what God has in mind for us.

It is important to understand that the following is a different parable making a different point from the parable of the Sower above. Therefore the meaning of the symbols is different.

13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. 13:26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

This parable is explained in verse 36

Matthew 13:31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: 13:32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

God’s ways start with a small initial gift of God’s Spirit of understanding; then WE must USE that Spirit and follow its lead; increasing our understanding through learning and the DOING of the commandments. We are to grow from a tiny bit of faith and conversion into mighty people of God!

13:33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

In this case the leaven is used as a picture of growth and multiplying, an example of an increase of the Spirit in us; as we follow it and use it.

The will of God is expressed in his Word and commandments; which are the very nature of God in writing.

God’s Spirit is the very nature of God.

The Spirit of God CANNOT go contrary to the very nature of God; therefore any spirit of man that compromises with sin, or that tolerates sin in the name of a false “love”: Is NOT of God; and is by necessity against Christ being the spirit of anti-Christ!

If any person, or any spirit; permits or tolerate sin without rebuke; they are contrary to God and contrary to Christ: They are anti God and anti Christ!

13:34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: 13:35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

Jesus Christ the Lamb of God, slain from the foundation of the world. Jesus Christ the ONLY way to salvation. Jesus Christ the ONLY Mediator between the Father and mankind. Repentance, forgiveness for repented sin, the covering sacrifice, reconciling mankind to God the Father; followed by an empowerment to overcome sin; with the very nature of Christ and the Father, given to dwell within us through the spirit of the Father and of Christ. That IS the way into the Kingdom of God! That is the way of salvation! That is the true Gospel that Christ taught and commanded us to teach.

The true Gospel is NOT ONLY about some Kingdom which may or may not come in our lifetime: It is about the WAY INTO THAT KINGDOM! The true Gospel is about defining SIN, and warning to repent of sin!

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.

The Parable of the Tares of V 24-29 Explained

Matthew 13:36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

13:37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; 13:39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

The good wheat is the faithful Children of Light! The Good Seed in this world is the Word of God!  The Tares are the unconverted sown amongst the wheat, who look just like the wheat but bear no spiritual fruit!  This is not about the obviously wicked worldly, it is about those who have a appearance of godliness but do not have any fruits of godliness; about those who give lip service to God but do not have the works of godliness, which is living by every Word of God!

Faith without works is dead (James 2:17, James 2:20) and those who will not live by every Word of God are spiritually dead even though they may appear superficially spiritual!

If we do NOT LIVE and proclaim the very Word of God, keeping al the commandments of God without compromise; we are NOT the wheat sprouted from the Good Seed of the Word of God [the Children of Light]; we are NOT doing as Christ did and as He commanded us to do, which is to live by every Word of God (Mat 4:4); we are BAD SEED of tares! We are tares or apostates.

No, the True Jesus Christ will NOT tolerate sin!  Jesus will cast all unrepentant willful sinners into the furnace of tribulation, and if they still will not sincerely repent they will be cast into the Gehenna fire of final total destruction.

13:40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; 13:42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

At the end of the age, Jesus Christ will separate the tares from the wheat. At the resurrection of the first fruits, Christ will raise up the zealous faithful who have followed him in all things diligently; regardless of trials, persecutions or death. While those who compromise with God’s commandments; who tolerate sin; who reject preaching a Gospel of warning and repentance: Will NOT be changed to spirit in the first fruits resurrection.

This parable does not teach tolerating sinful acts out of a false love; it is about the fact that  tares cannot be identified until their fruits are seen.  Besides the tares that look like the faithful; there are also many outright thorns and briars who have no zeal for keeping the Word of God.  Once the ungodly are revealed by they false teachings and willful sin:  They are to be removed!

1 Corinthians 5:9    I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:

5:10  Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

Like the ancient Corinthians, today’s Ekklesia have become proud of their tolerance of sin:  especially of their spiritual fornication with idols of men to follow them instead of zealously following the Word of God

5:12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?

5:13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Indeed if we do tolerate sin among us; we are tolerating the pollution of the body of Christ and God will NOT hold us guiltless!

We are to reject all sinful persons from the body of the faithful saints; who are unrepentant after several admonitions.

Titus 3:10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; 3:11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

Brethren, the saints are not to judge those not of the body, for outsiders are NOT under the authority of the body [the head being Christ] and cannot be put out of that which they are not inside.  The saints are COMMANDED to judge those who are of [inside] the body, and to reject and cast the sinful OUT of the body. This is to protect the body and in the hope that the wicked will repent.

Cleansing the body of the obvious wicked willfully sinful;  makes the body [Ekklesia] into a shining light of righteous example for the world.

Matthew 13:43 Then shall the righteous shine [zealous KEEPERS of the Word of God] forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Spiritual understanding and eternal life are worth more that all physical things put together, for we know that all things physical will pass away including our own physical lives.

13:44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

13:45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: 13:46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

We are to seek and value our salvation and our potential to enter God’s Kingdom as of more value and worth than all that physically exists!  Instead like ,many of us have NOT valued and have sold the birthright of our calling for minor personal pleasures and desires!  Even taking our own pleasures on the Holy Sabbath and compromising and willfully sinning against the Word of God.

We tolerate sin saying that God is love and will understand and forgive; forgetting that only the sincerely repentant who commit to: “Go and sin NO more” will receive forgiveness!

Matthew 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own [eternal life] soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 16:27 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

If our deeds are godly and we exalt the things and Word of God; the reward will be great. If we are focused on personal pleasures and worldly things, we have had our reward and wil have no good thing from God.

The bad [the willfuly unrepentant habitual sinner] shall be cast aside to destruction; while the zealous to LEARN and KEEP the whole Word of God will have the atoning sacrifice of Christ applied to them and will be saved.

Matthew 13:47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: 13:48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

God casts his net, calling many;  and then separates the good from the bad according to their faithful keeping of his commandments and their passionate internalizing of his very nature.

Matthew 22:14   For many are called, but few are chosen.

Matthew 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, 13:50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

13:51 Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.

Scribes were the copiers of the scriptures.  The called out are to be scribes instructed in the spirit as well as the letter of the laws of the Kingdom of God; copying the scriptures into their hearts and minds that they may be written there and fully internalized in the hearts of the faithful forever.  The things of God are to be  like the precious things of a household that have been worked for and are treasured above all else.

13:52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

Every person well instructed in the teachings of Jesus Christ; has a great treasure of the things of God.

13:53 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.

In  his own city the people thought; “did we not watch this person growing us; and now this upstart wants to teach us?”

13:54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? 13:55 Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? 13:56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

A prophet has respect from many but not much in his own neighborhood, because they are too used to thinking of him as a little child; that they had been teaching.

13:57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Matthew 14

John Baptist beheaded for speaking the truth to power.

Matthew 14:1 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus, 14:2 And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him. 14:3 For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife. 14:4 For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.

It is not lawful to take one’s brother’s wife.

Leviticus 18:16 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother’s wife: it is thy brother’s nakedness

[Because a man and his wife are one flesh, to take another’s wife is like taking him also]

Matthew 14:5 And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. 14:6 But when Herod’s birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod. 14:7 Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask. 14:8 And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist’s head in a charger.

Herod was rash with his oath which he would not have made if he had feared God, and he feared the people enough to commit murder.

14:9 And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath’s sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.

14:10 And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison. 14:11 And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.

14:12 And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

Thus ends a man of God; beheaded for speaking the truth, and that over a rash vow by a wicked king.

14:13 When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities. 14:14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

His fame had now spread and crowds gathered wherever he was. However the people came to see the miracles, to be healed and to hear his words but not keep them; as the prophet has said.

Ezekiel 32:31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. 32:32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.

This is exactly the situation in the Ekklesia today.  They love to hear and to speak of the Word of God, and to call themselves godly, and to think of themselves as the righteous of God; yet they have no zeal to keep the Word of God and would rather follow idols of men.

The miracle of the five bread rounds and the two fishes.  Five thousand men were fed and probably at least as many women and children.  This is a symbolic picture of the feeding of the spiritual Bread of Life, the whole Word of God; to humanity who willingly follow Jesus and the Word of God.

Matthew 14:15 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. 14:16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat. 14:17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes. 14:18 He said, Bring them hither to me.

14:19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.14:20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. 14:21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

This was a demonstration of Jesus’ Messiah-ship and power to feed the people as he had fed Israel with manna in the wilderness for forty years. As he provided physical food for a physical bride of the Mosaic Covenant; he has also provided spiritual food for a converted spiritual people. We have only to seek him with all our hearts and be DOERS of his words; and he will give to those who ask; spiritual bread and meat [the Word of God and understanding].

14:22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before [ahead of him]  him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. 14:23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

Christ has set an example for us that it is good to occasionally take the time to separate ourselves from all else and spend personal time with our Father; to get away from the bustle of activity and just take it easy and spend time with God. Even married couples would benefit from separating for a short time on occasion for the express purpose of fasting and prayer; we all need a break at times; and we all need to take the time to focus completely on God, to think, and to share our cares with Him; and seek his inspiration, help and understanding.

1 Corinthians 7:4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. 7:5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

The disciples had gone ahead in the boat and very late after he had finished his prayers, Jesus came to them walking on the waters.

Matthew 14:24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. 14:25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 14:26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

The Jews, since their conquest by Pompeius, [who had been invited by the Mosaic Jews to defeat the Hellenic Pharisees] had adopted the Roman division of the night into four watches, and the fourth watch was accordingly between 3 A.M. and 6 A.M., in the dimness of the early dawn. John adds, as from a personal reminiscence, that they were about twenty-five or thirty furlongs from the point from which they had started—i.e., as the lake was five miles wide, nearly three-fourths of the way across.

Having seen all these miracles, and having been given power over demons; they still feared. Why? Because they looked at the immediate physical situation and forgot the power of God to deliver them. Focusing on the physical things of this world, whether they be fearsome or pleasurable: Always distracts us from the spiritual things of God!

The whole situation in the world’s religions today is a wrong focus on the physical contrary to the spiritual, and so we are distracted from the POWER and STRENGTH of our God to deliver us. We focus on doing our thing our own way, and in so doing have lost our humility and think we know it all and have need of nothing; we have strayed from our God and fallen away from his commandments.

14:27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 14:28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 14:29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

This is a lesson that fear in this world will result in our failure, and that we must at all times be fixed on zeal for the Word of God and follow our LORD to overcome the tempests [trials and temptations]  of the world.

14:30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? 14:32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

We ought to focus on the great power of our God to deliver, and on the absolute WISDOM of his ways; and not to try and deliver ourselves by some kind of compromising with his word. The greater the trouble, the stronger we should stand for God’s word and commandments, and the faster we should RUN to our God to deliver us.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

As Israel could not enter the land through unbelief after so many miracles; will we also be unable to enter the Promised Land of eternal life in  God’s Kingdom because of faithlessness and unbelief?  We cannot please God without FAITH, for it is our faith and trust in God that motivates us to obey him!

Matthew 14:33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

The Healings at Gennesaret.

14:34 And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret. 14:35 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased; 14:36 And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole.
