Israel has given Hamas a 48 hour ultimatum to stop all fire by midnight Saturday or face a powerful Israeli offensive. The Israeli ultimatum was delivered by Egyptian Intelligence to the head of Hamas’s political bureau, Musa Abu Marzuk, who is in Cairo.
To back this up Israel has called up reserve senior officers and established a Gaza Operation headquarters, while bringing armor and artillery from across the country and tens of thousands of troops to the Gaza border.
The Israeli buildup should be completed by Saturday evening and at the ready for an Operation to destroy Gaza militants. The Gaza militants are preparing to respond to this operation with all their strength.
Hamas declared on Thursday that it was not afraid of Israel’s threats, after Israel delivered an ultimatum to Hamas to stop rocket fire from Gaza within 48 hours or deal with an Israeli attack on Gaza.
A spokesman for the Hamas military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, responded to the Israeli ultimatum by saying that the campaign of the Palestinian people against the “occupier” is not bound by time, and called Israel “a racist enemy who sheds the blood of others and considers only Jewish blood as holy.”
He further said that the Palestinian people aim to liberate the “land of their fathers and grandfathers,” and that the Al-Qassam Brigades have become an army that cannot be defeated.
