When in full control of the Crimea Russia will be in a position of strength for negotiations.
Germany Chairs Secret Talks on Ukraine Crisis
The US and Russians have quietly entered into intense negotiations, moderated by Berlin, on a compromise for resolving their dispute over Ukraine.
The general items on the table are for Moscow to retain control of the Crimea and agree not to attack the rest of Ukraine.
In return Russia demands that:
1. The new Ukrainian government whatever form it takes, must sign an obligation to abstain from any ties with NATO;
2. The new Ukrainian government will guarantee that neither the US, NATO or any other power will deploy X-Band or BX-1 radar stations on Ukraine territory whether on land, sea or air. This guarantee would additionally cover elements of an anti-missile missile shield and ballistic missiles in Ukraine; 3. Restrictions will govern the types of weapons allowed the Ukrainian army..
Sunday at EU and NATO headquarters in Brussels, consultations are reaching an agreement for a call for “an inclusive political process in Ukraine based on democratic values, respect for human rights, minorities and the rule of law, which fulfills the democratic aspirations of the entire Ukrainian people.” This means the end of the present coup government and a referendum on governance being demanded by demonstrators across Ukraine.
John Kerry is scheduled to be in Kiev tomorrow to lay down the decisions of the great powers to the coup government of Ukraine.
China is now siding with Russia and seeking that the democratically elected government be restored in Ukraine. Rumors are rife of a possible move by the Ukraine military to remove the thugs who took over the Ukraine in a recent coup, and restore the elected government.
The scenario of a new “neutral Europe ” between east and west is beginning to unfold as most of the EU are rejecting sanctions on Russia and doing their best to diffuse the crisis, even to the point of forcing NATO to backtrack on its program for Ukraine.
