CLEAN AND UNCLEAN
The law of the Clean and the Unclean is to teach us the difference between the holy and the profane, and to teach us that God will NOT tolerate any breaking or compromise with his commandments.
God commands us not to consume or even to touch the unclean thing. This is an object lesson and a TEST. Will we obey God, or will we do what we or some man decides is right?
We may consume or use ONLY the dead bodies of creatures that have been sanctified by the word of God.
1 Ti 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5 For [if] it is sanctified by the Word of God and prayer. Anything that is contrary to the word of God [adultery, murder, consuming the unclean thing, observing Sunday or any other day instead of God’s commanded Sabbath (sunset Fri to sunset Sat) etc etc] is sin.
The list of unclean creatures is found in Lev 11.
We spend a lot of time avoiding pork, other unclean creatures, furs, and the skins of unclean creatures, and that is good; yet we have failed to learn the spiritual lesson of this physical command. The New Covenant is a spiritual Covenant involving the presence of the Holy Spirit of Almighty God.
One major lesson of the clean and the unclean is that God will not tolerate even the slightest presence of sin.
LAWS, STATUTES AND JUDGMENTS
A “LAW” is the basic fundamental law, as the basic ten and two great commandments.
A “STATUTE” is a rule that is supportive of the basic law. For example: The law says thou shalt not murder; the intent of that law is that no innocent blood would be shed. Therefore the statute that you shall:
Deu 22:8 When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence, is consistent with and supportive of the law.
A “JUDGMENT” is a ruling on an application of the law. For example:
Nu 36:2 And they said, The LORD commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel: and my lord was commanded by the LORD to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother unto his daughters.
3And if they be married to any of the sons of the other tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall it be taken from the lot of our inheritance.
4And when the jubile of the children of Israel shall be, then shall their inheritance be put unto the inheritance of the tribe whereunto they are received: so shall their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.
5And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of the LORD, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph hath said well.
6This is the thing which the LORD doth command concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best; only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they marry.
7So shall not the inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe: for every one of the children of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
8And every daughter, that possesseth an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, shall be wife unto one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may enjoy every man the inheritance of his fathers.
9Neither shall the inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe; but every one of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance.
10Even as the LORD commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad:
11For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their fathers brothers’ sons:
SECTIONS OF THE LAW
The whole law as given to Israel is the constitution of the coming Kingdom of God! It was given to the Called out of Egypt and their experiences recorded for OUR instruction!
That whole law can logically be divided into sections. For example the laws of sacrifice, the ten basic laws, and the law of clean and unclean.
Each section has a specific purpose and is there to teach us specific things about the coming Kingdom of God and about the work and atonement of Jesus Christ, as well as about how we are to conduct our lives.
CLEAN AND UNCLEAN
The laws of clean and unclean are about far more than mere physical health as those who lack spiritual understanding teach.
We MUST keep BOTH the physical law and its spiritual purpose and intent, in order to learn fully the intended lessons. Those who compromise with the physical law will never learn its spiritual lessons.
By compromising with many laws on the physical plane; many have cut themselves off from learning the spiritual intent of those laws and quenched God’s spirit, driving it out of the Temple of their hearts. For God will NOT co-dwell with willful unrepentant sin!
The basics are
1) That what a man eats [internalizes] either physically or spiritually he becomes; either turning to godliness by spiritually internalizing Christ as the Bread of Life; or internalizing wickedness.
2) That what is touched physically corresponds to what we tolerate in our midst spiritually. Do we tolerate and allow the presence of unrepentant sin, compromise with God’s commandments and make excuses for and justify sin; instead of strongly condemning sin and correcting the breaking of God’s commandments?
Do we reject the repeated and willful sinner from our midst, or do we tolerate his example infecting the whole body?
Tit 3:10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; 11Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
Also knowing that a little leaven [sin], leavens the whole body of believers.
1 Cor 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 7Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
Let me interject here that this is talking about the commandments of God; and not about man made traditions.
The law of clean and unclean is also far more than just what you eat, or touch, however I will begin with the law of clean and unclean meats.
This law is found in Lev 11 and Deu 14. Where God clearly defines what shall be clean and unclean in the nature of dead animals. Anyone who even as much as touches the dead unclean animal shall wash and be unclean until the evening [the sun has set].
Lev 11:24 And for these ye shall be unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even.
We are not to consume or even to touch the dead body of any unclean creature. That includes skins and furs.
The hair or wool sheared from LIVING animals may be used, as the operative concept is DEATH, with the dead unclean creature picturing the person who dies in wickedness remaining polluted by sin.
The clean creature picture the righteous godly person and the unclean pictures the person who is spiritually unclean before God through rebellion and compromise with the law and commandments of God. The dead bodies of the clean animals picture those persons clean from sin, through their faithfulness to God and awaiting their resurrection to eternal life as Christ the Lamb of God was resurrected to eternal life; the dead bodies of the unclean picture persons who are polluted by sin.
The purpose of this is NOT health and this is not “just Physical”. Like all the other laws it is a physical law to teach us spiritual principles.
The purpose of the law of the clean and unclean is to teach us to discern between the holy and the profane.
The priesthood is to teach the people the difference between the holy and the profane, the clean and the unclean.
Ez 44:23 And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.
Ez 22:25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.
26Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.
What does this mean?
The law of the clean and unclean is an analogy of spiritual cleanness; or the spiritual uncleanness of exposure to sin and compromising with God’s commandments.
To eat the unclean thing is the same as internalizing wickedness, instead of the spirit of Jesus Christ; to touch the unclean thing is to tolerate and consort with sin, to permit sin to remain uncorrected within the collective body.
Like all good housekeepers my mother would roar if we tracked dirt into her home; yet in a spiritual sense we think nothing of tracking the filth of sin into the very Temple of Almighty God; our minds.
To tolerate sin without rebuking it is to tolerate spiritual uncleanness among us! To compromise with the Sabbath and pay others to work for us in restaurants is to not only tolerate sin, it encourages the sin of polluting the Sabbath and it is active participation in other men’s sins.
1 Ti 5:22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure [from sin and all spiritual and physical uncleanness].
When we eat we internalize what we eat, and when we touch filth we become polluted with that filth.
If you put your hand in sewage; would you not then wash it to cleanse it?
The lesson is the same, and God used certain animals to teach us about eating and internalizing evil. He used the very touching of the unclean dead body to teach us that dipping our hand in the wickedness of spiritual sewage will make us unclean and detestable to God.
If we have been exposed and touched evil we are contaminated with that evil and need to be cleansed; just like a person handling sewage begins to stink of that sewage. And if we actually eat the physical unclean thing which is representative of internalizing spiritual sewage; how much more do we stink of sin before our God?
Brethren, the idea of the clean and the unclean is to teach us to put a difference between the spiritually holy and profane!
This is an analogy, just like circumcision is an analogy of true repentance and the removing of the covering veil of our sins.
Let me be very clear: AS God would tolerate NO unclean thing in his physical temple and commanded all Israel to avoid uncleanness: he will remove all spiritual uncleanness OUT of his spiritual Temple.
Almighty God will NOT TOLERATE any hint of sin in his Temple; which is his PEOPLE!
Lets get this clear: Almighty God will NOT tolerate anyone who compromises with HIS commandments or who breaks his laws; they will be rejected from being his Spiritual Temple!
Let’s make this even clearer: Almighty God will NOT dwell in a filthy sinful environment!
God’s spirit will NOT remain in a willfully sinful person! And we become willfully sinful the minute we begin to make excuses for sin; when we say that we are only weak flesh and that he will forgive, and then use that as an excuse to avoid any serious effort to overcome.
If we justify working on Sabbath [sunset Friday to sunset Saturday] by saying that God is love and he would not want us to lose our jobs: WE ARE SINNERS and God’s spirit will leave us if we do not quickly and sincerely REPENT!
Today apostate religion is FULL of tolerance and compromise; full of reasoning and excuses to not obey God and to do what we want regardless of what God ha commanded; full of sin! We are carnal and worldly and we cannot distinguish between the holy and the profane, between spiritual cleanness and spiritual uncleanness.
We have quenched God’s spirit and have become filled with faith in our own righteousness; which is spiritual FILTH and UNCLEANESS in the eyes or our God.
1 Cor 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
It is past time to repent and regain our lost passionate love and zeal for our Father and his commandments.
We have fallen away from our God and we know it not, because we cannot discern between what is holy and what is profane, between the spiritual cleanness of keeping all of God’s commandments with uncompromising zeal; and the sin of a shoddy, lukewarm, spiritually lazy form of love for God, fearing and loving the things of this wicked world more than the things of Almighty God.
Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
2 Cor 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
OTHER FORMS OF UNCLEANNESS
Bodily discharges involve a loss of strength and are representative of the wages of sin [death], most especially blood is representative of death, for no higher life form can live without its blood and sin requires the shedding of blood in atonement for sin, or the death of the sinner.
Menstruation is a continual reminder that by woman, sin and death came into the world and by a woman’s bearing of the Son of God to die for the sins of the world, sins are removed and humanity is reconciled to God.
1 Ti 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
Blood is about death which is the result of sin.
To tolerate sin without serious condemnation of that sin and serious correction, is to lead those sinners to their death. Presented as love, this attitude is the exact opposite of love!
The other forms of uncleanness involve disfigurement, and disease; which is physical imperfection and is analogous of spiritual imperfection.
Mat 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
This is also a part of the sacrificial law in that a sacrificial animal must be perfect because it represents the perfection of Jesus Christ.
Tell me, if you gave a shoddy gift to a ruler in this world would he accept you because of it?
Mal 1:8 And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts. And now, I pray you, beseech God that he will be gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he regard your persons? saith the LORD of hosts.
10Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nought? [without being paid?] neither do ye kindle fire on mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.
Yet, many think that God will accept a shoddy and imperfect service from his people.
Mal 1:12 But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD is polluted; and the fruit thereof, even his [spiritual meat, his word and his commandments they compromise with and profane] meat, is contemptible.
13Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought that which was torn, and the lame, and the sick; [an imperfect service and a lack of zeal for the thing sof God, being zealous for their own ways] thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the LORD.
