Who is Sovereign: God or Man?
Although they do not generally use the term Primacy of Peter, many COG groups are very big on exalting their supposed authority above the Word of God.
Please do not misunderstand me; YES, elders DO have authority.
They have the authority to teach the truth of the Word of God and to rebuke any departure from God’s Word!
Ss long as they are consistent with the whole Word of God, they do have authority!
In fact even the unordained have the authority of God and his Word; as long as they are being consistent with God’s Word!
Divine authority is not in men or women; the authority is in the Word of God itself; the authority of TRUTH !
However when they depart from the Word of God; they lose all authority, for all authority is from Almighty God; and people have absolutely no godly authority, when they depart from the Word of God.
Paul tells us that authority is first god teh Father, then Christ and then the husband; and the law says that the woman is to be respected and to have authority over her children.
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
When any person claims teh right to bind and loose God’s Word, he departs from God and loses whatever authority he has; for the ONLY doctrinal authority is the whole Word of God and our Head Jesus Christ and his Head God the Father
To put this simply: Not every person who claims to be godly is godly. The godly man lives by EVERY WORD of GOD, Mat 4:4; while teh wicked man claims that he has the right to bind and loose God’s Word and to decide for himself what is right and wrong.
Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
To set himself up as a supposed authority between the brethren and God is to try to make oneself an idol of the brethren; and identifies the person as a false teacher.
For a long time now COGWA, UCG, LCG etc etc have been well aware that their position on following the Rabbinic Calendar is full of errors in fact, and full of false statements.
Because they know their Doctrinal Papers on the calendar are absolutely wrong and full of gross error; and are absolutely contrary to scripture, they resort to teh old lie that they have teh authority to decide for themselves.
Brethren Adam and Eve did not have the authority to decide for themselves to take a piece of fruit! Jesus taught us to live by every Word of God; and the scriptures clearly define days, weeks, months and years; giving us the Biblical Calendar that Almighty God commands us to use to determine his annual Festivals, Holy Days and Appointed Times.
Yet KNOWING they are wrong, they have been on a full court press of sermons to claim that they as supposedly God’s executives, have the authority to choose to reject the Biblical calendar of God, and follow some other way!
No person can prove that the Rabbinic calendar is biblical! Even the Rabbins do NOT claim that!
Nearly all the COG Groups reject the Word of God to follow the apostate Rabbinic calendar, and they also rejects God’s Word on the sanctity of the Sabbath and much more. It is because they reject God’s Word to follow the false traditions of men that they have no understanding of prophecy.
Such men do NOT have any love for the truth; if they did they would stop lying about the Rabbinic calendar, and they would stop lying that they have any authority to make decisions to go against the Word of God, and they would stop exalting their own [proven to be false traditions] above the Word of God!
COGWA, and now Rod Meredith exalt themselves above the word of God and claim authority to change from God’s way to their own ways! and they are rushing about to defend their sin, and to persecute anyone not exalting their supposed authority above the authority of God’s Word!
The Roman Catholic Church adopted a great deception to exalt itself and its priesthood to a position as being between men and God; as a kind of gatekeeper that can provide access to God or prevent such access; so that all who believed this lie and would seek God must go through them.
Rod Meredith and others have wrongly taught their brethren saying that only be following them will the escape the tribulation, only be following them will they be in the resurrection to spirit; lying and saying that they are the deciders and that to question them isd rebellion against God, when God’s Words commands us to question all men.
Claiming the power to deny or facilitate access to God and therefore the power to keep people out of or allow people access into eternal life; they held the ultimate power over those who believe this lie.
They claim what amounts to the catholic Primacy of Peter doctrine, that have the authority of God in the absence of God on the earth; and that they therefore had the right to substitute their own traditions for the Word of God, and to interpret or change the word of God at will. This is exactly the same LIE that Satan told Eve in the garden; “if you decide right and wrong for yourself you will be god”.
In the 1970′s Herbert W Armstrong adopted this system of church governance requiring absolute obedience to himself and his corporation; proclaiming that anyone who questioned him was questioning God; and that anyone who left him was leaving God.
He adopted the Primacy of Peter heresy and announced in all congregations by 1977 that he and his ministry had the right to interpret God’s Word and to enforce their own interpretations, traditions and decisions on the brethren,
As long as HWA maintained an appearance of being close to scripture, even though this was an appearance only, the brethren clung to him.
It was not until Joe Tkach used this heresy of HWA to reinterpret scripture further that some of the brethren had had enough and left WCG to cling to the [without substance] appearance of godliness provided by Herbert Armstrong.
I strongly advise you to study the page Laodicea; and The COG Today

The Great Deception: Part 1
If some man were to say follow me for I am greater than God and I know better than God does. He will have very few followers; very, very few people would think that he was a sane and very intelligent man. Yet, large numbers of such people have been going around for hundreds of years attracting hundreds of millions of followers. How can this be? Who would follow such a man? It is because they are subtle. They use tricks. They distort scriptures to deceive. And the person not grounded to the scriptures, not grounded in sound doctrines, simply cannot understand what is going on. It simply can’t be discern by the average man who is not grounded in the Holy Scriptures.
The primary scriptures used to deceive people are found in Matthew 16, where it is written: Jesus said: “I say unto you that you are Peter and upon this rock will I build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail again it. . . I will give the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever thou shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
These people say: Peter was given power to sit in judgment with God’s words, the power to bind whatever he chose; to lose whatever He chose. Peter was given the authority to decide for himself which of God’s commandments he was willing to obey, and to enforce and to teach his own ideas on others. And which of God’s commandment he could decide he did not want to support or obey or accept or teach. In doing this, Jesus Christ exulted Peter above God’s word setting him in up in judgment of God’s word. And giving him the authority to decide whether he thought God was right or wrong. In doing this, Jesus Christ made Peter sovereign and God his servant.
Is this true? Did Jesus Christ really set up a man over God when Jesus himself said I can do nothing without my Father? I have done the will of my Father. I have kept my Father’s commandments. Jesus said when you pray, pray to the Father thy will be done. Whose will? The Father’s will. We are to pray Him, thy will be done; which means that we must want that to happen. We must want to do His will. Why then would a man be given the authority to change God’s word, to change God’s will at his own personal discretion?
Did Peter really have that authority? And do his heirs and descendants ecclesiastically, really have such authority? Or is this a misreading of the scriptures? Is it a twisting of the words of God? Jesus must have known that His words would be twisted; therefore, He went on to explain what He was getting at in Matthew 18:15 where he said: “If your brother trespasses against you go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. And if he shall hear you, you have gained your brother. But he will not hear you, then take with you one or two more and in the mouth of two or three witnesses the thing may be established. But if he still refuses to hear you, or them tell that to the church and if he neglects to hear the church let it be unto you as a pagan and a publican.
The crux of the Primacy of Peter heresy now comes into focus.
Truly I say unto you, whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
What is He talking about here? He is talking about sitting in judgment of disputes; and the responsibility of the Church to properly apply the word of God to such disputes! For He goes on to say: Again I say to you that if two or three of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that you shall asked, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in Heaven for wherever two or three are gathered together in my name there am I in them in the midst of them.
This friends, is talking about the responsibility of the Church, to be faithful and loyal to God’s words and to make binding decisions based upon that word!
Jesus Christ was not conferring upon Peter any kind of authority to change God’s word; or to change God’s laws; to bind them, or to loose them, or to sit in judgment of the will and the word of Almighty God.!
Jesus Christ was informing Peter that his authority was to properly apply God’s word in all disputes which are appealed to him. That is the limit of the authority of Peter and of the Church. When we have disputes, we should try our best to resolve them; and if we cannot do so; we can appeal to the Church for a decision which shall be based upon God’s word.
Was Jesus saying anything new here?
Of course not, He was merely quoting the law given to Moses. For its written in Deuteronomy 17:8 “If there arise a matter too difficult for you in judgment between blood and blood, and plea and plea and between stroke and stroke, being a matter of controversy within your gauge then shall you arrive in gift upon the place which the Lord thy God shall choose and there shall come in to the priests to the Levites and unto the judges that in on those days and inquire and they shall show thee sentences of judgments and you shall do according to the sentence which they have place which the Lord shall choose shall show thee and you shall observe according to all that they inform thee according to the sentence of the law which they shall teach thee and according to the judgment which they shall tell thee you shall do, you shall not decline from the sentence which they shall show thee to the right hand nor to the left. And the man that will do presumptuously will not harm unto the priest that then to minister before the Lord thy God or unto the judge even that man shall die and you shall put away the evil from this real and all the people shall hear and fear and do no more presumptuously.”
There is authority in the ministry and in the priesthood to make decisions based upon God’s law.
Their authority and power is to enforce the word of God, to teach men about the things of God and to enforce the word of God.
They have no authority to deviate from the word of God. For it is written in Deuteronomy 13; “If there arise among your Prophet or dreamer of dreams and give the assignor wonder and if the sign or wonder come of which he has spoken to the sane that has go up after other God which he have not known and serve them, thou shall not hark unto the words of that prophet or that dreamers or dream for the Lord thy God does test you to prove of you to know whether you love the Lord thy God with all your heart, with all your soul. You shall walk after the Lord of God and fear Him and keep His commandments and obey His voice and you shall serve Him and cleave unto Him. And that prophet or the dreamer of dream shall be put to death because he has spoken to turn you away from the Lord of God that brought you out of the house of bondage.”
It is the Eternal God who is sovereign not man. It is the Eternal’s will that we are to perform, not men’s will. It is the Eternal’s laws that we are to obey and his words, not men’s. No man has the right to change God’s word, or to bind or loose God’s commandments in the sense of changing them.
No men can exult himself above the great Majesty on High; who has created the universe, who can hold the world in the hollow of His hands. And before whom a man, any man; is merely a speck of dust in comparison.
Man is nothing before God; man has neither the wisdom, or the understanding, nor the knowledge, nor the ability, nor the right, nor the power, nor the authority to sit in judgment of God’s word; and decide for himself what commandments men should or should not obey.
What then did Jesus really say to Peter in Matthew 16? He said: “Caiaphas, you are Peter, a petros, a pebble, a tiny stone but it is upon this rock: That rock being; Jesus Christ himself, the Chief Cornerstone, the Foundation Stone that I will build my Church and you must bind and loose according to God’s law in heaven.
You must settle disputes and make decisions based upon God’s commandments.
The foundation of the Church is the Rock Jesus Christ; not the pebble Peter, not the pebble of some other man who claims to be an heir of Peter. No man has the right to exalt himself above God and God’s Word.
No man should be looked to as ultimate moral authority.
All men whether they be prophets or apostles or ministers or evangelists or whoever they claim to be; should be tested according to God’s word.
As Paul said, “Follow me even as I follow Jesus Christ.” We are to follow God and Jesus Christ and keep the commandments and do them regardless of what any man says.
No man, no human being; has any power whatsoever to change as much as a punctuation mark in the Law of God; for it is written in Matthew 5:17, “Think not that I come to destroy the law or the prophets I am not come to destroy but to fulfill for truly I say unto you that until Heaven and Earth should pass away one jot, or one title or one punctuation mark shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled. As long as the Heavens and the Earth exist, all the commandments, all the law must be fulfilled. No man can change it ever.” Verses 19: Whosoever shall break one of these least commandments and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven.
And I say to you; only if you repent, will you even be there. But whosoever shall do and teach the least of the commandments; the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. For I say to you, except your righteousness should exceed the righteousness of the priest, the scribes, and the Pharisees you shall in no wise enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.”
Indeed we were told in Daniel 7:25 “That the great evil doers shall speak great words against the most high and think to change times and laws.
It is the sons of wickedness who seek to change the law of God, who seek authority to decide for themselves which laws should be, or should not be obeyed.
Remember how in the Garden of Eden the serpent beguiled Eve; telling her that she should decide for herself what is right and what is wrong. And that in so doing, she would become a god unto herself.
Man has been trying to do this ever since; to decide for himself what is right and wrong. To shove God’s word aside for their own false ways.
Men do not have the wisdom, or the right; to change the law of their Creator.
The Eternal is God; not man. The Eternal is sovereign; not man. The Eternal’s law is His word. Our Father and the basic Ten Commandments tell us; Honor thy Father and thy Mother that they life may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth. If you want eternal life, you must obey God and keep his commandments and the whole Word of God; for only those who keeps the Commandments of God shall access to the tree of life, shall have the right to eternal life.
Revelation 22:14 “Those who wanted to sit in the judgment of God’s word, who want to decide for themselves which of God’s commandments they should obey or bind; or which of God’s commandments they might lose or reject. Those people shall not be in the first resurrection; and shall not be in the Kingdom of God, shall not be part of the spiritual harvest. They shall have their part in the lake of fire if they do not repent and those who follow such people shall join them there.”
Do not follow such people; follow God and Jesus Christ. Keep the commandments, all of them; and follow men only as they follow Christ. Only as they keep the commandments. Always put God and His Commandments first; in all things always.
The word church comes from the Greek word Ekklesia, which can be confusing because the two words do not really mean the same thing.
The Ekklesia are the spiritual body of Christ; that is they are all those who have God’s spirit and follow the whole word of God. They are the true body of individuals, called out and faithful followers of God.
Corporate churches are physical organizations and need structured leadership to function. the structured leadership of corporations should never infringe upon or be confused with the spiritual government of God.
We must never lose sight of the fact that corporate churches are NOT the Ekklesia or body of Christ; corporate church organizations are only tools, which can be used to help further the mission of the spiritual body; such corporations are NOT the body itself.
Corporations are physical entities formed in a church state alliance: And in corporate churches, a majority of attendees are usually not zealously following the whole word of God; and are NOT part of the spiritual Ekklesia.
For the purpose of illustration I want to tell this story.
Once there was a great and rich man who had much land and many children. Now this man had to go far away on a long trip and he left his children in charge of his land and wealth, giving them a book of instructions about how he wanted them to behave and care for his estate.
And because his children were of various ages and levels of maturity this man asked the elder children to help explain and guide the younger in their responsibilities.
After he left and over a period of time some of the older children began to become intoxicated with pride in their responsibilities over the younger. They begin to take must authority to themselves than they were given, and to tell the younger that they were in charge, and that the younger would be rebelling against their father to question them.
Then filled with pride, they began to do a few little things the way they thought should be done, and departed from their father’s instructions. At first these were little things and went unnoticed by the younger children who had been taught by the older ones, that all they needed to do was to obey the elders.
Then over time as they strayed further for their father’s instructions, some of the younger began to read their instructions, and to see that the elders had departed from their fathers will. Immediately the elders told these folks that these younger children were causing division, since their father had left them in charge; and the older ordered the younger to shut up and stop causing division or be cast away.
As more and more of the younger people began to see that the elder were departing from their father’s instructions, the elders placated the concerned with honeyed words that they had been placed in charge and knew much better then the younger the intentions of their father.
They said that they were not changing anything, it was just that the younger did not understand the will of their father as well as the elders. The elders taught that the father had put them in charge and so to disobey them was to disobey their father! The elders told the younger that their job was to obey them and not to question; thereby diverting them from directly obeying the father’s will; and into obeying the elders instead of obeying their father.
And so most were content not to rock the boat and believed that if they just did as they were told, being obedient to the elders; they were pleasing their father and had it made.
These younger brethren were very sincere and trying to do the right thing, but were deceived and confused; because they left off learning and keeping their father’s instructions. They did not understand that by following the elders who had gone astray from and away from the instructions of their father, they were also being led astray.
Brethren there are those who say that God is the head of the church; and then openly claim that they are filling the office of Christ’s vicar [that is they claim to represent Christ in the absence of Christ.] they claim to be in authority over the people between them and Jesus Christ.
They claim the authority to bind and loose [to sit in judgment of and to have authority to change] anything in the word of God in the absence of Christ.
This is called the primacy of Peter doctrine in the Catholic church, and by other names in other churches.
Brethren, If some supposedly religious man were to say, follow me for I am greater than God and I know better than God. He will have very few followers; very very few people would think that he was a sane and intelligent man.
Yet, large number of such people have been going around saying that for hundreds of years; attracting hundreds of millions of followers. How can this be? Who would follow such a man?
They deceive by saying that they are God’s representative and that people should listen to them!
Brethren, God’s representatives will focus all on God and not on themselves! They will openly rebuke sin, teach the sound doctrine of holy scripture and exhort all to a zeal to learn and keep the whole Word of God!
They will NEVER try to change any part of the word of God! They will NEVER reject any part of the Word of God as not having a message for everyone!
Mat 24:5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I [Jesus is] am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Jesus also warned his disciples:
Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
How can we know who is truly of Christ?
1 Thess 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
Only by proving all that these people say is consistent with the whole word of God; can me know of what spirit they are!
Any person not grounded in the scriptures, not grounded in sound doctrines, not grounded in the instructions of the whole word of God; and who just follows any man who claims to represent God, simply cannot understand what is going on and will be deceived.
1 Who is the Head?
2 Has the Head really gone away or does he live in men through his spirit, and has he left us his Word?
3 Should we follow our Head, to whom we have committed ourselves in baptism, or should we follow others contrary to the will, teachings, commandments and the whole word of God?
We should KNOW; That we are the servants of those we follow and obey!
If we are not obeying God and are doing what we think is right instead of keeping his word; we are NOT the servants of Christ; we are the servants of another!
Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Who will you follow? Jesus Christ and the whole word of God? Or another contrary to the whole word of God?
Even Paul said: First Cor 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
How can you know the difference? By zealous study to learn and keep all the teachings, instructions, commandments and will of God, and by following men ONLY as they follow Christ!
First Cor 11:3 gives the hierarchy of authority in the Ekklesia
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God [the Father].
What then is the authority of the priesthood, the ministry?
There is absolutely NO religious or moral authority in any man or any ecclesiastical office; there is absolutely no authority in the office of elder, minister, evangelist, apostle, priest, or pope. And there is absolutely NO authority in any man who may claim any such titles.
All ultimate authority is in the hands of our Father in heaven!
Our moral authority is the whole word of God!
All things that any man says; are to be tested out and proven by the whole word of God; and we are to hold fast to what God’s word says and to reject anything that is contrary to the whole word of God.
If men follow Christ and the whole word of God; then they have the authority of the truth of God behind them; and are to be respected.
If they teach their own thoughts contrary to the whole word of God; such men do not have the backing of the truth of God behind them and should be rejected.
Any person not grounded in the scriptures, not grounded in sound doctrine, not grounded in the instructions of the whole Word of God; and who just follows any man who claims to represent God, simply cannot understand what is going on and will be deceived.
The primary scriptures used to deceive people is found in Matthew 16, And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Jesus Christ was [and is] subject to the Father at all times and in all things; for the Father is the HEAD of Christ.
First Cor 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
What authority does Christ have to give away the authority of his HEAD [the Father] to a mere mortal man?
For Jesus to exalt anyone over the Father, Jesus would have to be in authority over the Father himself! Was Jesus Christ really in authority over his own Father contrary to scripture?
Did Jesus have the authority to set up men over God the Father, when Jesus himself said “I can do nothing without my Father?” I have done the will of my Father. “I have kept my Father’s commandments.”
Jesus Christ is under the authority of the Father and did nothing on his own. Everything that Jesus did was according to the will and instructions of the Father in heaven.
John 5:19 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
Jesus said that when you pray; pray to the Father, thy will be done. Whose will,? The Father’s will!
Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
We are to pray “Thy will be done” which means that we must want the Father’s will to be fulfilled, including the whole word of God or we are lying to God! To pray this and not to seek to do it ourselves is hypocrisy and mocking God.
We must want to do his will. Why then would men be given the authority to change God’s word? To change God’s will at their own personal discretion?
Authority in the Ekklesia ministry
Yes there is authority and levels of authority in the Body of faithful followers of God!
Some people say: Peter was given power to sit in judgment of God’s words, and they are the heirs of Peter with the authority to bind whatever they chose to bind; and to loose whatever a mere man chooses to loose.
They say that Peter was given the authority to decide for himself; which of God’s commandments he was willing to obey, and to enforce and to teach. And which of God’s commandments he could decide he did not want to support or obey or accept or teach, and the authority to loose them.
They say that, Jesus Christ exalted Peter above God’s word; and as the supposed heirs of Peter they set themselves up in judgment of God’s word, giving themselves the authority to decide whether they think God’s word is right or wrong.
In doing this they claim, Jesus Christ made Peter and themselves SOVEREIGN; over Christ himself and the Father!
First Cor 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
We see clearly from Paul that the Head of Christ is God the Father in heaven; and this is supported by Jesus himself who commanded us to:
Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God [the Father].
Jesus said in Mat 19:17 that if we are to enter eternal life we must keep the commandments of the Father.
Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
As a youth Jesus said that he must do his Father’s will; Luk 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?
Jesus declared that he had kept his Father’s commandments
John 16:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
Jesus was without sin; that is he never transgressed any of his Father’s commandments for:
First John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Jesus Christ was subject to the Father in heaven in all things and his purpose on earth was:
John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
Jesus was the Creator under the authority of the Father in heaven; he came down to this earth to do the will of the Father.
John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
Heb 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
What is a High Priest but a mediator between men and God the Father? Jesus Christ being our High Priest is manifestly lower than God the Father, and higher than mankind; for he is between the Father and man mediating and reconciling man with the Father.
It is therefore fully evident that God the Father in heaven; is the head and authority over Jesus Christ. Indeed today Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father indication that the Father is the Head of Christ.
This Jesus Christ who is lower than his HEAD the Father in Heaven, and is passionate to do the will of his Father; is the HEAD of the Ekklesia on the earth!
He works to reconcile mankind away from sin through teaching repentance from all sin and the learning and keeping all the commandments and teachings of the Father.
When such repentance and commitment to turn away from all sin and to keep all the teachings and commandments of the Father, the sacrifice of the Lamb of God can be applied to the repentant and he/she will be reconciled to the Father.
The Primacy OF Peter: Part 2
Welcome to the second part of TheShiningLight presentation on the Primacy of Peter. This part will focus directly on the Primacy of Peter from the scriptures and at the offices of responsibility that God has ordained.
Last time I discussed the subject of just Who is the HEAD of the Ekklesia; and what the scriptures say about who should be followed, as the true HEAD of the called out of God.
We are to follow God and to ONLY follow men; as they are proved from the scripture to be followers of the whole Word of God.
We are to obey and do the will of the Father as Jesus Christ did, We can do so through the indwelling of Christ’s spirit; which empowers us to learn, understand and do the whole will of the Father; internalizing his very nature.
The chain of ecclesial authority starts with the Father in heaven at the very top; HE is the HEAD of Christ and then Christ is the HEAD of the faithful Ekklesia who follow him as he follows the Father; and the man is the HEAD of the woman. Because the woman was made for man. And finally the woman is the HEAD of her children
At this point we have an ecclesiastical “Chain of Command” or Hierarchy of Authority: First the Father in heaven; second Jesus Christ; third man, and fourth the woman is in authority with her husband over their children as the commandment says.
We are to obey those in authority in the Lord; that is: We are to obey those in authority over us, ONLY as they obey and follow the Father and Christ.
If our minister strays away from the whole word of God, or our husband or parents are unconverted and teach us to sin; we are to obey our heavenly Father above our physical parent’s or husband.
Think of this as a chain of authority and if one link of the chain is broken we are to still follow the top links; God the Father and Christ, and are not to follow the weak link contrary to our HEAD, God the Father and Jesus Christ.
This principle also applies in ecclesiastical offices of responsibility as well.
Offices of responsibility have been given to the called out to Christ; these offices are to be HELPS and teachers of the whole Word of God!
They exist to help the younger and novices in the faith, to learn and grow in the knowledge of God and to focus us more and more on God the Father and Jesus Christ. These offices are not a hierarchy of authority; they are responsibilities to serve and HELP the brethren to grow and mature into a full unity with Christ.
If an elder or leader does not do that, and instead does his own ways and demands that people follow him; he is a false teacher, a broken link in the chain and is to be REJECTED!
We are to reject following and trusting in any man and we are to prove all men and teachings by the whole word of God!
We are to follow men ONLY as they are zealously dedicated to learning, keeping and teaching: the whole word of God the Father and Christ; and all their ways, teachings commandments and will.
Ex 20:12 applies in the physical sense and it also applies much more in the spiritual sense. We are to honour and obey our Father in heaven.
Ex 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
The Father in heaven is the Head of Christ; and he is also our HEAD!
For Jesus said that he and the Father are ONE; and we are to be ONE in complete UNITY with them!
And we become united with Christ by learning and keeping the whole word of God.
We are not to become one in unity with apostates and false traditions which separate us from the Father and Christ!
.We are to be ONE with the Father and Christ and to become fully like them; we MUST internalize their very natures; through the diligent LEARNING and KEEPING all their teachings, will and commandments.
The person who teaches that a “New Covenant” Christian need not be zealous for all the law of God; is spiritually ignorant and a false teacher and an anti Christ!
Any person who teaches that Jesus Christ is not dwelling in his faithful and empowering them to keep all the teachings, will and commandments of Christ: IS AN ANTICHRIST.
1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
The Father and Christ are in full spiritual UNION, they are spiritually UNITED as ONE!
John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
He who denies the son, denies the Father; and he who denies the Father also denies the Son!
1 John 2:22 He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
Now the scripture plainly says that God gave us helps to teach and lead the Ekklesia into the perfection of Christ.
Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying [learning and growth] of the body of Christ:
What then is the authority of the various offices, like elders and apostles or evangelists and priests in the body of Christ?
Jesus Christ limited himself to doing his Father’s will, and we are to limit ourselves to doing the will of the Father and Jesus Christ; as written in the whole word of God.
John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
If a man is called to an office in the Ekklesia; he must be judged as to whether he is truly called to that office by God; by his fruits of zeal for doing the Father’s will; like Christ does the Father’s will.
Men are NOT called to offices of doing what they think is right; they called to offices to set an example of zeal for the whole word of God and to help bring the elect into the perfection of Christ and into full spiritual unity with God the Father and Jesus Christ.
If any person teaches compromise with the Word of the Father or Jesus Christ, or tolerance for false doctrine [teachings]; or does not rebuke sin; which is the transgression of any part of the whole Word of God: He is a false teacher and an antichrist.
Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
These are not offices of ecclesiastical authority BETWEEN men and the Father. No, they are helps to bring the Elect into an even CLOSER relationship with Christ and the Father!
1 Ti 2:5 For there is one God [the Father], and one mediator between God [the Father] and men, the man Christ Jesus;
There are NOT many levels of mediators coming between men and God the Father! There is ONLY ONE High Priest and Mediator; Jesus Christ!
The office of apostle is to preach the whole word of God publically and raise up congregations.
Prophets were to deliver communications directly from God, and to exhort to righteousness and rebuke sin.
Pastors and teachers were to teach the local congregations, while evangelists travelled from congregation to congregation; rebuking sin, expounding the Word of God, giving news from other congregations; and helping the local elders with local problems, while making sure the pastors and teachers were faithful to the Father, to Christ and to the whole word of God.
That is the limit of the responsibilities of these offices.
They are NOT to come between the brethren and Christ as layers of authorities; but are to set an example for the brethren and to teach the whole word of God; and if any heresy away from the whole word is found; to correct the error; and if the person will not repent to remove him from the body to save the whole body from being polluted and becoming spiritually unclean and offensive to Christ.
Does Peter or any other person ; really have authority to decide for himself whether to keep [bind] or reject [loose] God’s Word?
Or is this a misreading of the scriptures? Is it a twisting of the word of God?
These far‑reaching claims are based on the verses found in Matthew 16:18-19.
Let us make a careful and critical examination of these verses and see exactly what Jesus said
Here is the text: Matthew 16:18-19. “Thou art Peter, and upon this Rock I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Most of the New Testament was originally written in the Greek, and translated into other languages.
When you study the Greek text you will find that the word Peter and the word Rock on which Christ was to build His church; are two separate and distinct words, each having a different meaning.
The word Peterin in Greek is petros, which means “a piece of rock; a stone; a single stone; movable, insecure, shifting, or rolling.”
The word rock is petra, which means “a rock; a cliff; a projecting rock; mother rock; huge mass; solid formation; fixed; immovable; figurative of enduring; a mountain of strength.”
The word petros for Peter in the Greek is in the masculine gender; and the word petra for the ROCK is in the feminine gender.
Petros and petra are therefore two distinct words in the Greek. Petros [PETER] is a shifting, rolling, or insecure stone; while petra [A ROCK] is a solid, immovable rock.
In the English language the gender is not specified by the article. We say the fork, the spoon, and the knife. The three words have the same article.
In the Greek, as in many languages, each noun and corresponding article; is in the masculine, feminine, or neuter gender. In many cases it is an arbitrary arrangement, regardless of sex.
The article in Greek is important. If a noun is in the masculine, it must have a masculine article; and if the noun is in the feminine gender, it must have a feminine article.
The text of Mat 16:18-19 in the Greek shows that petros [Pebble] is in the masculine, and petra [a ROCK] In the feminine; thus PROVING that they are two distinct words; and each one has a different meaning.
Now the question is, on which of the two, petros or petra, did Christ establish His church?
Was it on [PETER] the petros, a movable stone, a small pebble , or on the immovable rock of petra?
Let us quote the text again: “I say also unto thee [to Peter], That thou art Peter [petros, masculine gender, small pebble], and upon this Rock [petra, feminine gender, unmovable mountain] I will build My church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matt. 16:18).
The text indicates clearly that the Ekklesia is built on petra the ROCK of our salvation and not on Petros [the tiny pebble Peter].
Now, who is this petra or Great ROCK on which Christ built His true church?
Let the Holy Bible again give the answer. If the Bible gives the answer, we make no mistake in accepting it; because the definition is authentic.
Psalm 98 O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.
5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.
6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.
Here is the Roman Catholic’s own Douay version ”They drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock [petra, in the Greek] was Christ” (1 Corinthians 10:4).
Here we have evidence that petra refers to Christ, and not to Peter, petros. Again we quote: “Jesus Christ Himself being the chief Cornerstone” Ephesians 2:20
Deu 32 Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:
3 Because I will publish the name of the Lord: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.
4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
Long before Jesus was born He was considered the Rock.
Isaiah 28:16: “Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation”.
Peter applies this prophecy to Christ.
1 Peter 2:6: “Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief Cornerstone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on Him shall not be confounded” (1 Peter 2:6).
David said: “Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I” (Psalm 61:2)
and Psalm 62: Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation. 2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
If the church was built on Peter then Peter would be the head of the church.
However, Peter was not the head of the church. Instead of having the disciples, apostles, and other believers call Peter pope, or Father Peter, or Holy Father Peter, Jesus said:
Mat 23:8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren 9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.
If Jesus delegated Peter as the head of the church, why did the other disciples quarrel among themselves as to who would be the greatest?
Luke 9:46 Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.
And again even at the Passover?
Luke 22:24 And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
If this decision had already been made by Christ, why should the others fret about it?
The disciples would have accepted the decision of their Master. Thus it seems evident that no such appointment had been made by Jesus.
Neither Peter nor any of his successors [whether Roman Catholic or in the Church of God groups] were heads of the true church. Paul explains this when he says: “The head of every man is Christ” (1 Cor. 11:3).
Jesus Christ was made the HEAD of the Ekklesia and no man is the head of the church of God, the spiritual; body of Christ! No man is the head of the Ekklesia under Jesus Christ either!
Men may head corporate churches for the sake of a certain degree of corporate organization; but no man is the head of the Ekklesia.
The Ekklesia are those who:
Rev 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
The true Ekklesia are those who follow the whole word of God and Jesus Christ: And do not follow any other.
The word church comes from the Greek word Ekklesia, which can be confusing because the two words do not really mean the same thing.
The Ekklesia are the figurative body of Christ; that is they are all those who have God’s spirit and follow the whole word of God. They are the true body of individuals, called out and faithful followers of God.
Corporate churches are physical organizations and need structured leadership to function. the structured leadership of corporations should never infringe upon or be confused with the government of God.
We must never lose sight of the fact that corporate churches are NOT the Ekklesia or body of Christ; corporate church organizations are only tools, which can be used to help further the mission of the spiritual body; such corporations are NOT the body itself.
Corporations are physical entities formed in a church state alliance [which involvement with governments, is called whoredom by Christ] and is the sin of Babylon who consorts with the nations: And in corporate churches, a majority of attendees are not usually zealously following the whole word of God.
it is the Father who is the head over Christ, Jesus Christ has authority over every individual in the Ekklesia, and we are PERSONALLY responsible to HIM!
The Primacy of Peter: Part 3
Welcome everyone; last time I discussed Mat 16:18-19 and the difference between Peter the petros or small pebble, and the Petra or massive unmovable Rock.
Today I want to discus Mat 18: and its meaning; and in connection with that I will also discus Paul’s comments on law suits.
In Matthew 18:15 Jesus said: Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
What is he talking about here?
He is talking about sitting in judgment of disputes and the responsibility of the Church to properly apply the word of God to such disputes. This has NOTHING to do with making changes in the law; it is about applying the law to personal disputes.
For he goes on to say: Again I say to you that if two or three of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that you shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in Heaven for where ever two or three gathered together in my name [in my name does not mean just claiming to be gathered in Christ’s name; but to actually be gathered to learn and keep the whole word of Jesus Christ, to follow Christ; which is the LOGOS, Jesus Christ in print, the whole body of holy scripture which Jesus Christ has inspired.] there am I in them in the midst of them.
This friends, is talking about the responsibility of the Called Out, to be faithful and loyal to God’s words; which is the whole word of God, and to make binding decision BASED upon God’s word.
The Ekklesia, has the authority to make decisions based on the whole word of God!
The instructions of Jesus Christ are to do our best to work out our own problems and if we fail, we are to then ask for a judgments from the Ekklesia of the Called out.
Paul rebukes the Ekklesia for not obeying Christ in this matter:
First Cor 6 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?
2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.
5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?
6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.
7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?
The sin here, is not in seeking redress for damages or the resolution of issues.
The sin is in going to the wicked who do not know the whole word of God and God’s justice, to seek decisions; when such decisions in the Ekklesia should be based on the whole word of God; and by going to the unconverted and not going to the brethren who SHOULD know the whole word of God
The sin is in seeking judgment from this world, rather than seeking judgment from Christ and the whole word of God!
Any decision which is based on the whole word of God and is consistent with the teachings, instructions, commandments and will of God: will be fully backed up by the Father in heaven and Jesus Christ!
Sadly we have departed so very far from the law of God that there are very few qualified to make judgments based on God’s law today as nearly all the elders and leaders have departed from any zeal to learn and keep the whole word of God.
What should we do then if there is a dispute between COG organizations and their is no acceptable authority to make a judgment? We should obey our master Jesus Christ and accept pour loss forgiving the other and enduring the loss.
Mat 5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
God has placed offices of responsibility among the Called Out spiritual Ekklesia; the primary responsibility is to set an example of godliness, living by every word of God Mat 4:4: which means faithfully following the whole word fo God and NOT binding or loosing God’s word, according to their own desires.
The responsibilities of people in these offices is to KEEP the whole word of God, setting an example for the brethren and to teach the whole word of God; rebuking sin!
Paul explains the responsibilities of an elder or leader in the faith:
1 Tim 4 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
The faithful are subject to the authority of Jesus Christ and his word; they do not have any right to bind or loose, or to teach and go contrary to the whole word of God.
Deu 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
Who has been put in charge of the Father’s people and plan?
Eph 1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
This explains that Jesus is the head of every person and also of the collective Ekklesia. We are responsible to the head, which is the Father and Jesus Christ; and not to men who try to circumvent the work of Christ and take His place as the head of the brethren. Christ is the head of every person, and we are responsible to Him as individuals.
We are to live by every word of God Mat 4:4 and not by any word contrary to the word of God!
Jesus Christ is the Petra; the cornerstone of our salvation, and Peter was a petros, a small pebble and helper; sent forth to teach all things that Christ has taught and commanded: Not to make changes, but to teach the whole word and law of God.
This is our responsibility.
We have been called to learn and Keep and TEACH all people to fully keep the whole word fo God; NOT to make any changes in the word of God!
Mat 28:19: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
All things that Christ has commanded us, means the whole word of God which is inspired by Jesus Christ.
Lets go to the second scripture used to support the Primacy of Peter teaching; which is that the so called heirs of Peter; can sit in judgment of God’s word; and bind or loose it as they please is;
Jesus Christ commanded: Mat 19:17 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? 17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
How is it then; that Christ would give Peter and his so called heirs; the right to change the commandments of God that define the person of Jesus Christ and alone bring salvation?
Jesus Christ was not conferring upon Peter any kind of authority to change God’s word. To change God’s law; to bind, or loose, or sit in judgment of the will and the word of the Almighty God!
Jesus Christ was informing Peter that his authority and the authority of all godly men is to teach the whole word of God and to properly apply God’s word in all disputes. That is the limit of the authority of Peter and of the Church.
if we are NOT learning and keeping the whole word of God and are doing what we decide is right; then we are NOT men of God! It is just that simple!
We are to diligently learn the whole word of God, and to zealously keep it and to teach it to others.
When we have disputes we should try our best to resolve them and if we cannot do so, we can appeal to the Church for a decision which MUST be based upon God’s word.
Was Jesus saying anything new here?
Of course not! He was merely quoting the law that he gave to Moses.
For it is written in
Deuteronomy 17:8 If there arise a matter too difficult for you in judgment between blood and blood, and plea and plea and between stroke and stroke, being a matter of controversy within your gates then shall you go to the place which the Lord thy God shall choose and there shall ye come in to the priests to the Levites and unto the judges that shall be in on those days and inquire and they shall show thee sentences of judgments and you shall do according to the sentence which they shall show thee and you shall observe according to all that they inform thee according to the sentence of the law which they shall teach thee and according to the judgment which they shall tell thee; you shall do.
The authority here is not that of the priesthood or ministry; it is the authority of the Word of God, which the priests and the ministry should know and base their decisions on.
You shall not decline from the sentence which they shall show thee to the right hand nor to the left. And the man that will do presumptuously and will not obey the priest that is there to minister before the Lord thy God, or unto the judge; even that man shall die; and you shall put away the evil from the land and all the people shall hear and fear and do no more presumptuously.”
There is authority in the ministry and in the priesthood to make decisions BASED UPON GOD’S LAW!
There is NO authority to change, or depart from the teachings and commandments of God!
The authority and power of the ministry or priesthood is to set an example by keeping the word of God, and to teach all nations to repent and keep the whole word of God.
Popes, apostles, elders and priests; no matter what title they claim, or call themselves ; have no authority to deviate from the whole word of God.
For it is written in Deuteronomy 13; If there arise among your prophet or dreamer of dreams and give the a sign or a wonder and if the sign or wonder come to pass of which he has spoken and says go up after other gods which ye have not known and serve them, thou shall not harken unto the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the Lord of God does test you to prove you; to know whether you love the Lord of God with all your heart and with all your soul.
The Eternal God is sovereign; not man.
It is the Eternal’s will that we are to perform; not men’s will. It is the Eternal God and his word, that we are to obey; not the words of men.
No man has the right to change God’s word, to bind or loose God’s commandments.
No men can exalt himself above the Great Majesty on High; who has created the universe; who can hold the world in the hollow of His hand.
And before whom a man, any man; is a mere speck of dust in comparison.
Man is nothing; he has neither the wisdom, nor the understanding, nor the knowledge, nor the ability, nor the right, nor the authority to sit in judgment of God’s word and decide for himself what commandments men should or should not obey.
So, what then did Jesus really say to Peter in Matthew 16? He said: “Caiaphas, you are Peter, a petros, a tiny pebble, a tiny stone: but it is upon this rock: that rock being Jesus Christ himself, the chief cornerstone, the foundation stone; that I will build my Church and you must bind and loose according to God’s law in heaven. You must settle all disputes and make all decisions based upon God’s commandments.
The foundation of the Church is the Rock, Jesus Christ, not the pebble Peter! Not a pebble of some other man, who claims to be an heir of Peter and desires to set himself up as some kind of authority between God and men.
No man has the right to exult himself above God and the word of God. No man should be looked to as ultimate moral authority.
Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners [from Godand the called out], but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; Citizens of the kingdom and family of the Father in heaven
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets [the whole Word of God], Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
Do you really think that the spirit of God would dwell in a person who rejects the teachings and commandments of the whole word of God?
If we destroy sin by repentance; should we build again a life of the very sin we repented of?
Gal 2:18 For if I build again the things [sins] which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
We become a Temple of God’s spirit: ONLY by repenting of doing what seems right to us; and then building a new life upon the foundation of God’s Word and the commandments of God; not by following mere mortals as they change and pervert the Word of God.
All men whether they be Popes, or prophets, or apostles, or ministers, or evangelists, or priests, or elders; or whoever they claim to be, MUST be tested according to God’s word.
1 Thess 5:21 Prove all things [by God’s Word]; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
As Paul said, “Follow me even as I follow Jesus Christ.” We are to follow God and Jesus Christ and keep the commandments and do God’s will regardless of what any man says.
1st Cor 11 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
No man, no human being; has any right or power whatsoever to change as much as a punctuation mark in the Law of God for it is written:
Matthew 5:17, Think not that I come to destroy the law or the prophets I am not come to destroy but to fulfill [to keep or to do them, or to complete the law by explaining its intent]; for truly I say unto you, that until Heaven and Earth should pass away one jot, or one title, or one punctuation mark; shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled [made complete in its spirit and intent by Christ and kept by all peoples].
As long as the Heavens and the Earth exist; all the commandments, all the law and all the teachings of the whole word of God; must be obeyed. No man can ever loose any part of the teachings and commandments of Holy Scripture.
Mat 15:19: Whosoever shall break one of these least commandments and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least to the Kingdom of Heaven; [and I personally say to you; if you do not repent of breaking the least commandment, you will not even be in God’s kingdom]. Jas 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Back to Mat 15 For I say to you, except your righteousness should exceed the righteousness of the priests, the scribes and the Pharisees you shall in no wise enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
What did the priests and Pharisees do? They made the law of no effect by their traditions.
They were zealous for the traditions of their group, and were not zealous for the whole Word of God!
They had great zeal for what was right in their own eyes and no zeal for what was right in the eyes of God.
It is a son of wickedness that seeks to change the law of God, that seeks authority to decide for himself which laws he will obey and which laws he will not obey.
He teaches men to follow himself and not to follow the whole word of God. He will not obey God himself and wants people to follow him in his rebellion against God; and to do what he teaches. he wants personal POWER over the people and he wants to take the place of the whole word of God as the ultimate authority over humanity.
Remember how in the Garden of Eden the serpent beguiled Eve telling her she should decide for herself what is right and what is wrong. And in so doing, would become a God.
Man has been trying to do this ever since, to decide for himself what is right and wrong. To shove God’s word aside.
Men do not have the wisdom, or the right; to change the law of their Creator. The Eternal is God; not man. The Eternal is sovereign; not any man. The eternal law is His word.
God’s Law, His will; should be obeyed, for He is our Father; and the basic Ten Commandments tell us: Honor thy Father and thy Mother that thy life may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
If we want a long life, if you want eternal life , we must obey God and keep his teachings and commandments, for only those who keep the Commandments of God shall have access to the tree of life, shall have the right to eternal life.
Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are [all those who break and compromise with the teachings and commandments fo God] dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Those who call the Biblical seventh day Sabbath holy, and then pollute it; saying some sin is alright because some man said so; are following the false teachings of men away from the whole word of God!
Those others who deny the Biblical Sabbath and totally neglect it by saying it was changed to Sunday; are also following the false teachings of men, away from the whole word of God; for there is NO SUCH teaching in all the scriptures.
Those who want to sit in the judgment of God’s word, who want to decide for themselves which of God’s commandments they should obey or bind. Or which of God’s commandments they do not want to obey; shall not be in the resurrection to spirit; and shall not be leaders in the Kingdom of God; they shall not be part of the first fruits.
Jesus Christ said that we MUST abide in him, follow him to bear good fruit of godliness. and that if we do not abode in him, if we do not put him frst above any other, we shall be rejected and taken out and burned up.
John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
Do not follow those who do NOT abide in the true vine Jesus Christ!
Remain solidly in Jesus Christ and the whole word of God which is Jesus Christ in print. follow God and Jesus Christ.
As a branch draws nourishment from its vine or trunk; we draw spiritual nourishment from being fully planted into our vine Jesus Christ; coming into a full spiritual unity with our vine Jesus Christ brings us the spiritual life’s blood of the holy spirit.
The holy spirit is given only to those who keep the whole word of God!
Acts 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
Keep God’s commandments, all of them and follow men ONLY as they follow Christ. Only as they keep the commandments, the teachings and the whole word of God. Always put God and His Commandments first in all things: ALWAYS.
Any doctrine of men which exalts any man or teaching above the whole Word of God; or demands any immoderate respect, or love be given to a physical human beings or religious organizations; or which causes people to love other people and organizations more than they love Christ, the Father and the whole word of God: IS NOT OF GOD!
Do you love Jesus? Then DO what he teaches and commands; learn and keep the whole word of God!
Hear his words;
Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Does that sound like Jesus is allowing men to change and bind or loose his word as they want?
1 John 2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
Any doctrine of men that teaches: “Minister X says it is all right to do this,” or “the church says it’s okay;” if the scripture says different; or teaches that a scripture was only for the Jews, or only for someone else and not us. or says “I love the church so much, I would do anything for it.”
That person is against Christ and the whole word of God; and is placing these physical persons ABOVE the word of God; he or she IS an idolater!.
NO! We are NOT to love a corporate organization, men, traditions or friends and fanily more than we love God!
That is the teaching of an antichrist, for it turns us away from Christ and the whole word of God and causes us to love and exalt others above our Master and Creator.
This is idolizing men and organizations. We MUST do as God’s word commands regardless of what some man says. To do otherwise is to exalt a man over God.
We should NEVER allow a minister to dominate and abuse us into losing our zeal for God’s commandments; or allow him to coerce you into giving offerings or tithes; beyond your means. II Corinthians 11:19-20.
Any Church leader that says “God will take care of the problems in church leadership, and will correct them if they are wrong. You should sit back and do nothing; it isn’t your place to question church leaders.” Anyone who says that is a FALSE TEACHER AND AN EVIL DECEIVER AWAY FROM CHRIST.
Remember that God always uses other men to correct those who have gone astray and that God calls his people OUT of slavery to men. If corporate church leaders are false and acting or teaching contrary to the whole word of God; we had better think about leaving that organization.
Who are the heroes of the Bible? Are they not the men and women who dared to stand up and be counted? Are they not the people who dared to stand on the Word of God? The people who dared to take a stand against tyranny and sin? Who dared to stand alone if necessary?
Dare to be like Daniel and stand on God’s Word and your light will shine brightly forever: follow the crowd, fearing men more than God; and your light will be snuffed out.
Do not let wicked men emasculate and quench the holy spirit in you. Take a stand for what is right an dif necessary set a godly example by turning your back on evil.
Where can you go?
Go to the ROCK of your salvation: seek him out: he is the one who will deliver you! Then begin to fellowship with others who are also standing on the TRUE FOUNDATION. Fellowship with them, but do not exalt that fellowship above unity with God; so that you would be willing to compromise with God’s Word: to maintain such fellowship!
Do not be fooled into believing that all who leave a particular organization or corporation; are consigned to hell-fire, because they are leaving “God’s church”.
Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
A man or organization is only “God’s church” if they are doing what God commands! If they are keeping all of God’s commandments without subjugating God’s Word to the philosophies and traditions of men!
Thinking that a corporation can separate us from the love of God; exalts that corporation above God in our eyes.
NOTHING AND NO ONE stands between us and our God, except our own rebellion and sins.
There is ONLY ONE MEDIATOR between man and God: our High Priest, Jesus Christ.
We are not to blindly accept false corporate church doctrines and teachings without Biblical proof, and/or accept doctrinal changes without serious study and questioning. IsNOT loving God and his Word enough; to prove all things first Thes 5:21.
If you are setting a wrong example by tolerating sin; how can that really help anyone?
You can set the right example by fleeing the spiritual adultery of loving men and corporations more than you love God.
The RIGHT example is set by doing the RIGHT thing; which is to avoid the spiritually unclean and profane thing; of exalting men and corporations above the whole word of God.
Paul tells us to mark [or take note of] and avoid those who act contrary to the sound doctrine of the Scriptures,
How can we know who is being contrary to the scriptures unless we question and prove them?
Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
By continuing to associate with unrepentant people or Groups acting contrary to God’s ways, we are ourselves; breaking the Scriptures.
By tolerating doctrinal diversity, we are causing division between the brethren and Jesus Christ! We may have a false appearance of unity because we get along; but that is a satanic false illusion; In reality we are doctrinally divided and NOT united at all; and we are most certainly NOT in spiritual unity with Jesus Christ
The corporate church leader, minister or member who thinks he knows it all, and won’t listen to God’s Word or keep God’s commandments, is unteachable, an idol unto himself.
When a person or group thinks they know it all and is no longer willing to continue diligently searching out the truth of God and continually corrects error in sincere repentance, has become self righteous and full of themselves.
If they say that anything not discovered by themselves is not important; because if it were important, God would have shown it to THEM first; their attitude is vain and puffed up with self import pride.
Such people and Groups are Laodicean; and they are Nicolaitanes, because they think that they are better than the rest of God’s children, having the right to dominate and control others.
Any corporate church which comes between the people and God, instead of acting as a HELP to bring people into a closer fuller unity with the whole word of God, IS NOT a minister of Jesus Christ.
The Primacy of Peter heresy; or any hierarchical, authoritarian Nicolaitane system that places men between the people and Christ, is an abomination to the Father in heaven and Jesus Christ.
Laodicea and the Nicolaitanes
Good morning everyone!
When our Lord Jesus Christ walked among men, He taught His disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, whom He denounced as hypocrites. With them He classed the chief priests and officials of the temple, together with the recognized teachers, (scribes, or “professors” Ferrar Fenton Translation) in the Synagogues.
He declared they had so corrupted the truth of God, which they were supposed to preach, with the doctrines, traditions and ordinances of men, that the truth, as originally given, was no longer with them. That which these blind leaders of the blind were giving forth as truth of God was making their converts twofold more the children of hell than they were. through their acceptance of the traditions taught by these corrupt teachers.
Therefore, as a warning to those who were joining themselves to Him, the Lord said that these non-spiritual men made long prayers for a “pretense,” a public “show” which, while having a form of humility, was for the purpose only of being seen of men.
What these men really loved was to make a big show in the vestments and appearance, being given the highest seats in the Synagogues; the uppermost rooms at the public feasts; the respect and greetings they received in the market places from truly humble and sincere men, whom they hoped would esteem them as superiors, and who addressed them as Rabbi, Rabbi, my master; father, reverend etc;
But our Lord commanded: Mat 23:5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, 6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, 7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. 8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. 9 And call no man your father [for a religious title] upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. 11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
This was a double command for a double purpose: 1) Do not allow men who are your brethren in Christ, and who compose the assembly of God, to call you Master, for ONE alone is your Master. 2) Do not allow yourself to become possessed with such a carnal spirit that you want men who belong to the body of Christ to call you “Master.”
Also, condemned was the carnal desire to be “uppermost” in the eyes of the people, these leaders were charged with extortion and accused of devouring the homes of widows, and of excess. Jesus accused those who aspired to be regarded as dignitaries of the congregations of the Most High God of being hypocrites. Those people doing these things contrary to the direct instructions of Jesus Christ, are rejected by God; as these same people have already rejected Christ in their doings.
It is true that there is a legal and God-approved honor given to certain selected ones: “We beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves,” (I Thessalonians 5:12-13).
“Let the elders that rule well [guide; lead; preside well] be counted worthy of double honor, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine,” (I Timothy 5:17).
Why guide and lead, instead of rule with rigor?
Because those who are over us in the Lord are shepherds who must lead and guide, but not dominate. Rule is arbitrary government, and the faithful to God, musr be “subject to Christ” only. “One is your Master, even Christ.”
The following Divine instruction is from one of the inspired Spirit-filled elders:“The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed. Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight [not bullying dominating] thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock,” (I Peter 5:1-3).
The “blind guides” would say, but do not. The true Divinely-anointed elder will both say and do, and thus be an example to the flock, whom the people will love and esteem very highly for his work’s sake, and who in his heart will never desire to be lord over the heritage of his Master.
What is to be done by a true person of God? He must keep all of the commandments of God with Christ-like zeal.
Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
It is this aspiration on the part of men to become lords over Gods heritage that God hates. “The doctrine of the Nicolaitanes” is just what the word Nicolaitanes itself declares.
Proof: 1) In the book of the revelation of Jesus Christ, it is both “the deeds” and “the doctrine” of the Nicolaitanes that Christ despises, (Revelation 2:6, 15).
The Lord demands repentance on the part of those who hold and practice these things and He threatens drastic punishment if they do not obey Him:“Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth,” (Revelation 2:16).
2) The name, Nicolaitanes, is a compound word which is composed of three Greek words, and which, because of being a proper noun, is transferred instead of being translated into English. As thus transferred, it is subject to the laws of Greek construction in regard to ellipsis, contraction and phonetics.
3) The Greek words used in its construction are first: “Nikos,” of which we use the English equivalents instead of the Greek letters, as we shall also of the other two parts.
Nikos is defined as “a conquest; victory; triumph; the conquered; and by implication, dominancy over the defeated.” Another transferred name in which this term is used is “Nicopolis,” i.e., Niko conquest; polis city. Hence, the city of conquest, or city of victory. Also Andro “nikos;” a man of conquest, of victory.
The second term used in the name under consideration is “laos,” meaning people, another use of which is Nicolas, which is transferred and is composed of Nikos-laos and means one who is “victorious over the people,” the letter s being, in both words, the nominative case ending, which is retained only at the end of the word to denote the case, while a short and o short are contracted into a long.
Also, a still further transferred use of “laos” is found in the name Lao(s)diceans, compounded with dike or dice as the Greek k is the equivalent English c. Thus, in the name Laodiceans, we have laos “people” and dice judgment, or vengeance, i.e., the people of my judgment, or of my vengeance; the people who will be judged.
The Greek word la(ic)os means “laymen,” of which la-os is the root and stem, which selfsame word, with the o short contracted to i, to which root and stem the plural definite article ton is joined to form laiton is a Greek phrase meaning “the laity.”
The third and last word entering into the construction of the proper name Nicolaitanes is ton, in which omega, the long o, is contracted into long a, thus making the word “tan,” which is the genitive case plural in all the genders of the definite article the.
Therefore, we have, without the legal Greek construction, the English hyphenated word Nickos-laos-ton, but which, with its lawful elisions and contractions, becomes the English name: Nicolaitanes, the full meaning of which, in its native tongue and in its ecclesiastical setting, is that the bishops and prelates of the Church have gained a triumphal victory or conquest over the laiton; [the laity] until they [the laity] have been compelled to submit to the arbitrary dominion of men which thing which God HATES: They have come between the people and God becoming the “Lords over God’s heritage” in place of the Eternal.
This is the Roman Catholic type of church governance; adopted by many other religious groups!
They have exalted themselves above all that is called god, by presenting themselves as ultimate moral authorities between men and God;’ and above God in the so called absence of Christ.
Saying that you cannot understand God’s word through the gift of God’s spirit and you must follow me as I interpret and bind and loose God’s words. Thus placing themselves between the people and God and by binding and loosing as they see fit, they exalt themselves above the Word of God.
The evidence of this is found in all our common school dictionaries, among which we find the following definition of the term “hierarchy: the power of dominion, government by ecclesiastical rulers,” to which the following is introduced in evidence:
“If anyone shall say that there is not in the Catholic Church a hierarchy established by the divine ordination, consisting of bishops, presbyters and ministers, let him be anathema. Council of Trent (trans) XXIII 6.” (Century Dictionary.)
In other words, let anyone who will have the temerity to say there is not a hierarchy, not a collection of human beings, who have been given the power, of dominion, as ecclesiastical rulers over churchmen, who are declaredly Gods heritage, let that man be accursed; i.e., let death and hell and the devil get him. Surely, the thing in which that ecclesiastical company and the Church of God groups who have adopted this thing that Christ HATES; are glorying is their shame!
Furthermore, Webster defines the word “Episcopal” as “the power of government, belonging to, or invested in, bishops or prelates. Government of the church by bishops.” Also “In episcopacy, the order of bishops is superior to the other clergy, and has exclusive power to confer orders.”
In this definition it is affirmed that a certain portion of presbyters (elders) were even “in apostolic times superior in authority to ordinary brethren,” and also mentions the fact that episcopacy recognizes “Episcopal rank” which is created by the institution thus governed; all of which affirms that any church in which Episcopal government obtains; is practicing the very carnal and fleshly iniquity of creating “Ranks of authorities between the people and God” in what should be a holy brotherhood. The use of this appellation makes “inferiors” out of “brethren” who are in the selfsame called out priesthood.
The approbation of “ordinary elders” demands a “set” of elders who are super-ordinary, thus creating “rank” (caste) in the otherwise divine brotherhood, all of which destroys holy fellowship, creates division and strife, and fosters envy.
No marvel that our Lord should hate a thing like that, condemn it, and demand that those who are guilty shall repent.
There is no religious authority whatsoever in any man; It is the Word of God that has authority!
And when the Word of God is faithfully taught, that Word carries the authority of the true Holy Father in heaven. On the other hand; if any man turns God’s Word and does not teach it; that man is an apostate and has no authority whatsoever for he has forsaken the authority of God’s Word.
But will they repent?
Yes, some will when the tribulation is upon them. Others, however, will stick to their position of coming between the brethren and God, vainly imagining that their boasted “superiority” will carry them through that time of the greatest trouble the world has ever known, or will know. They must go down with the rest of the hosts of anti-Christ.
Anyone who exalts himself above God by claiming the right to bind or loose God’s Word is an Antichrist and will be destroyed by God in due time.
Regardless of all the miracles that he does or his fine arguments; the coming final false prophet, called an abomination in scripture, for exalting himself above Almighty God and his Word; shall be destroyed at the coming of Christ, precisely 1,335 days after this Pope is set up doing miracles in Rome.
And yet, one of the most unfortunate features of all this is that there are those in the Christian Church who do not actually knowingly teach the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, and yet still practice “their deeds” of dominating the laity by lording it over the laity, which should be subject only to one Divine Master.
It is often true that these have assumed this lordship because they are esteemed very highly in love for their works sake, but have become vainly puffed up in their fleshly mind.
In the Revelation; Jesus Christ commends the Church at Ephesus for: But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate. Rev 2:6
Christ then tells the church at Pergamos that: So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate. 16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them [who hold this doctrine] with the sword of my mouth [with the Word of God], Rev 2:15.
Since Jesus Christ hates both the doctrine and deeds of the Nicolaitanes; we should, as followers of Christ; also HATE these deeds and doctrine. Therefore it is absolutely imperative that we learn what these deeds and doctrine are; lest we also be hated by Christ and lest he fight against us.
The fruit of this doctrine is a dictatorial, oligarchic, hierarchical system; that exalts a caste of priests or ministers above the people; which then comes between the people and their God: Finally being seen as God’s representative and therefore looked up as a God themselves; with the right to change God’s Word, thereby actually replacing God as the ultimate moral authority in the minds and lives of the people.
The people then follow this hierarchical leadership without question; focusing on these men instead of upon God and his Word. The people are then guilty of idolatry and spiritual adultery; and must be corrected by Almighty God; destroying the flesh, in the hope that some will repent, so that the spirit might be saved.
This system and the men who use it, use God’s name to exalt itself [themselves] over the people; even as it also exalts itself over God. The word “doctrine” of the Nicolaitanes; refers to the “Primacy of Peter” teaching which exalts men as judges over God’s Word: while the word “deeds”; refers to the actual act of exalting oneself between the people and God’s Word [this act can still be done even without actual knowledge of the doctrine].
A simple statement like: The Sabbath should be kept holy, but we will keep Sunday holy instead and justify that by calling Sunday the Sabbath of God; which scripturally it is not.
The seventh day is holy and this same seventh day was kept by Jesus Christ and all the Jews as well as by all true Christians throughout history. Please see our posts on Christian History and the Biblical Sabbath.
Brethren this issue is crucial to your spiritual safety. If you follow men in rejecting God’s Word, for their teachings and traditions contrary to the Word of God; then Jesus Christ is going to fight against you; he is going to CORRECT you.
That is the condition at the end of this age. That is what Catholicism, Laodicea and all false religions are all about. they are about following men and losing the zealous love for our heavenly Father and his commandments: Becoming lukewarm toward God [loving and being zealous for a man or a corporation above our zeal for God’s co0mmandments].
We say, we love God; yes indeed. But we obey and follow men instead of God’s Word!
Think not? Then ask your priest of minister about the Biblical Sabbath, or about their position on the Biblical Holy Days and the pagan festivals like Easter and Christmas and the Primacy of Peter doctrine; which is the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes. Today’s religions are man centered and we are NOT: totally God centered like we should be!
Men ought not exalt themselves above God!
The Papacy and all religions which do not keep all of God’s commandments with diligent enthusiastic zeal do this as well; by knowingly or unknowingly using the very same Primacy of Peter doctrine of the Nicolaitanes and exalting men as ultimate moral authorities of humanity.
When a man becomes our final moral authority we have exalted him above God in our own minds and this is the sin of idolatry. When a man or group of men tells you to believe the Word of God as THEY explain it: instead of telling you to believe what they say as proved by the Word of God: It is time to move on. God comes FIRST!
When a man deliberately exalts himself; HE SHALL BE ABASED BY ALMIGHTY GOD. This Doctrine replaces God with a man as the ultimate moral authority; in the minds and lives of the people.
Mat 23:11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
This doctrine and these deeds; ARE AN ABOMINATION TO ALMIGHTY GOD. HE WILL CORRECT AND IF NECESSARY DESTROY [THE UNREPENTANT] WHO PRACTICE SUCH ABOMINATIONS.
