Leviticus 14-27

Leviticus 14

The cleansing of the leper

Hyssop is a plant associated with soap and therefore a cleansing agent. Scarlet is the colour of blood, representative of the application of the blood of the Lamb of God, cleansing from sin. Two clean birds,  pigeons or turtle doves [as the sacrificial birds for the poor] are also to be brought.

Leviticus 14:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 14:2 This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought unto the priest: 14:3 And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall look, and, behold, if the plague of leprosy be healed in the leper; 14:4 Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop:

One bird is to be killed so that its blood falls down into running water; picturing the sacrificial blood of Christ and the living water of the Holy Spirit [the whole Word of God].

The healed leper and the living bird shall be sprinkled with the blood and water; after which the person shall go forth cleansed; symbolizing the cleansing of the repentant by the blood of Jesus Christ to go forward and live by every Word of God.

The bird flying away, is a picture of the uncleanness, leaving the man or house; akin to the removal of the Satan-goat on Atonement Day.

14:5 And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water: 14:6 As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water: 14:7 And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field.

The cleansed leper may then enter the camp but must remain outside his home for seven days

14:8 And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean: and after that he shall come into the camp, and shall tarry abroad out of his tent seven days.

On the seventh day the afflicted person shall shave off his hair and wash himself and shall be clean when the day of his uncleanness ends and a new day begins at sun set (Lev 17:5).

14:9 But it shall be on the seventh day, that he shall shave all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair he shall shave off: and he shall wash his clothes, also he shall wash his flesh in water, and he shall be clean [when the sun sets].

The eighth day represents a new beginning; and now being made clean a Trespass Offering shall be made

14:10 And on the eighth day he shall take two he lambs without blemish, and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish, and three tenth deals of fine flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and one log of oil.

14:11 And the priest that maketh him clean shall present the man that is to be made clean, and those things, before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: 14:12 And the priest shall take one he lamb, and offer him for a trespass offering, and the log of oil, and wave them for a wave offering before the LORD: 14:13 And he shall slay the lamb in the place where he shall kill the sin offering and the burnt offering, in the holy place: for as the sin offering is the priest’s, so is the trespass offering: it is most holy:

The blood placed on the tip of the right ear is a reference to opening the ear and mind of man to the Word of God through the atoning sacrifice of Christ. The right thumb of the right hand refers to the cleansing of our deeds and works of trespass and sin; the great toe of the right foot refers to our walk through this world being cleansed from past sin and going forward to sin no more.

14:14 And the priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering, and the priest shall put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot:

The sprinkling of the oil representing the Holy Spirit seven times pictures complete cleansing from uncleanness and sin; and a fullness of reconciliation and unity with God through the Holy Spirit.

14:15 And the priest shall take some of the log of oil, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand: 14:16 And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand, and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before the LORD:

The oil represents the Holy Spirit which is given to the person cleansed by the sin and trespass offerings [representing Jesus Christ the ultimate Sin and Trespass Offering]; and again refers to the right ear as a reference to opening the ear and mind [the understanding] of man to the Word of God through the atoning sacrifice of Christ for past sin and trespass.

The right thumb of the right hand refers to the cleansing of our deeds and works of trespass and sin; the great toe of the right foot refers to our walk through this world being cleansed from past sin and trespass; going forward to sin no more.

14:17 And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trespass offering:

The remainder of the oil shall be poured out on the head of the supplicant; representing the pouring out of the Holy Spirit on the sincerely repentant and cleansed from all uncleanness and sin.

14:18 And the remnant of the oil that is in the priest’s hand he shall pour upon the head of him that is to be cleansed: and the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD.

After the Trespass offering, a Sin and a Burnt Offering along with their Meat [unleavened bread] Offerings is then to be made.

14:19 And the priest shall offer the sin offering, and make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed from his uncleanness; and afterward he shall kill the burnt offering: 14:20 And the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the [the accompanying unleavened bread] meat offering upon the altar: and the priest shall make an atonement for him, and he shall be clean.

The poor person’s offering

14:21 And if he be poor, and cannot get so much; then he shall take one lamb for a trespass offering to be waved, to make an atonement for him, and one tenth deal of fine flour mingled with oil for a meat offering, and a log of oil; 14:22 And two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, such as he is able to get; and the one shall be a sin offering, and the other a burnt offering.

The poor man shall also bring his offerings on the Eighth Day of NEW BEGINNINGS: Alluding to the Feast of The Eighth Day.

14:23 And he shall bring them on the eighth day for his cleansing unto the priest, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, before the LORD.

The offering of the poor is made in place of the offering by the more solvent leper, and the Holy Spirit is poured out upon the poor as well as the better off.

14:24 And the priest shall take the lamb of the trespass offering, and the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before the LORD: 14:25 And he shall kill the lamb of the trespass offering, and the priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot:

14:26 And the priest shall pour of the oil into the palm of his own left hand: 14:27 And the priest shall sprinkle with his right finger some of the oil that is in his left hand seven times before the LORD: 14:28 And the priest shall put of the oil that is in his hand upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the place of the blood of the trespass offering: 14:29 And the rest of the oil that is in the priest’s hand he shall put upon the head of him that is to be cleansed, to make an atonement for him before the LORD.

14:30 And he shall offer the one of the turtledoves, or of the young pigeons, such as he can get; 14:31 Even such as he is able to get, the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, with the meat offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for him that is to be cleansed before the LORD.

This law for the poor shows the mercy of God for the destitute who do not have the commanded offerings to offer.

14:32 This is the law of him in whom is the plague of leprosy, whose hand is not able to get that which pertaineth to his cleansing.

Why does God require all this offering because a person has had a skin disease? because it represents the spotting of uncleanness and sin in the spiritual sense. Such blemishes and imperfection and impurity in the flesh represent imperfection in the spirit of men.

This is an object lesson [All scripture is written for US today] that we are to be filled with the Word of God by the Holy Spirit, and to remain unspotted by the sins of the world.

A reminder and object lesson, that when we lose sight of our zeal for the whole Word of God, and become spotted with the spiritual blemishes of sin or association with sin, following the false teachings of men and not being diligent to learn and keep the whole Word of God: We are imperfect and filled with the blemishes of sin and trespass; and are  NOT fit to be a part of the Chosen Bride of Christ and the Holy Spirit will now dwell in us.

We are to work to remove all spots and blemishes of sin and trespass and to make ourselves a fit place for God’s Spirit to dwell; ready to have a place in the collective Bride of Christ.

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

2 Corinthians  7:1 Having therefore these promises [from God as a reward for repentance and learning and keeping his Word], dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness [becoming LIKE God, internalizing the very nature of God, by learning and living by every Word of God] in the fear of God.

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted [fast], and mourn, and weep [in heartfelt repentance]: let your [proud haughty joy and zeal in your own ways be brought to contrition] laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord [repent of your own worldly ways and turn to learn and keep the whole word of God], and he shall lift you up.

Mildew, rot and fungus in a building as a kind of leprosy

This is another indication that the leprosy is the disfigurement and not a case of modern leprosy.

Leviticus 14:33 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 14:34 When ye be come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you for a possession, and I put the plague of leprosy in a house of the land of your possession; 14:35 And he that owneth the house shall come and tell the priest, saying, It seemeth to me there is as it were a plague in the house:

The building is to be evacuated and then inspected

14:36 Then the priest shall command that they empty the house, before the priest go into it to see the plague, that all that is in the house be not made unclean: and afterward the priest shall go in to see the house:

14:37 And he shall look on the plague, and, behold, if the plague be in the walls of the house with hollow strakes [thin streaks], greenish or reddish, which in sight are lower [penetrate deep into the wall] than the wall;

The building shall be closed up for seven days to see if the leprosy disappears of grows.

14:38 Then the priest shall go out of the house to the door of the house, and shut up the house seven days: 14:39 And the priest shall come again the seventh day, and shall look: and, behold, if the plague be spread in the walls of the house;

If the building remains infected the infected areas shall be removed and the building cleaned thoroughly.

14:40 Then the priest shall command that they take away the stones in which the plague is, and they shall cast them into an unclean place without the city: 14:41 And he shall cause the house to be scraped within round about, and they shall pour out the dust that they scrape off without the city into an unclean place: 14:42 And they shall take other stones, and put them in the place of those stones; and he shall take other morter, and shall plaister the house.

If the plague returns the house it shall be destroyed

14:43 And if the plague come again, and break out in the house, after that he hath taken away the stones, and after he hath scraped the house, and after it is plaistered; 14:44 Then the priest shall come and look, and, behold, if the plague be spread in the house, it is a fretting leprosy in the house; it is unclean.

14:45 And he shall break down the house, the stones of it, and the timber thereof, and all the morter of the house; and he shall carry them forth out of the city into an unclean place.

All persons who have entered the polluted house shall be unclean.

14:46 Moreover he that goeth into the house all the while that it is shut up shall be unclean until the even. 14:47 And he that lieth in the house shall wash his clothes; and he that eateth in the house shall wash his clothes.

If the plague is healed the house will be pronounced clean.

14:48 And if the priest shall come in, and look upon it, and, behold, the plague hath not spread in the house, after the house was plaistered: then the priest shall pronounce the house clean, because the plague is healed.

The house shall be cleansed in similar fashion to the cleansing of a leper.

14:49 And he shall take to cleanse the house two birds, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop: 14:50 And he shall kill the one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water: 14:51 And he shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird, and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times: 14:52 And he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the living bird, and with the cedar wood, and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet: 14:53 But he shall let go the living bird out of the city into the open fields, and make an atonement for the house: and it shall be clean.

The bird sacrificed and its blood mixed with water is an allegory of human beings being made clean from repented association with sin and being spotted by worldliness; through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and the cleansing of water of [keeping] the Word by the Holy Spirit, through diligent study to learn and keep the whole Word of God.

The “water” of the Word cleanses through the understanding given by the Holy Spirit (John 7:38-39); which comes through repentance the application of the sacrifice of Christ.

As we learn and keep the Word of God, the Holy Spirit of the very nature of God grows within us.

Our repentance and the sacrifice of Christ cleanses us from past sin; and the diligent learning and keeping of the whole Word of God, to go and sin no more, guides us to remain clean from future sin.

Ephesians  5:25 . . . . even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

The bird flying away is a picture of the uncleanness, leaving the man or house; akin to the removal of the Satan-goat on Atonement Day.

Leviticus 14:54 This is the law for all manner of plague of leprosy, and scall, 14:55 And for the leprosy of a garment, and of a house, 14:56 And for a rising, and for a scab, and for a bright spot: 14:57 To teach when it is unclean, and when it is clean: this is the law of leprosy.

Leviticus 15

Various types of uncleanness

Leviticus 16 is about the Day of Atonement and these various types of uncleanness are leading up to the day of Atonement. This is not coincidence or accident.

A drainage from the skin.

This physical imperfection and impurity, is an example of SPIRITUAL imperfection and impurity.

Any person with a draining from his body [including seed of copulation (Lev 15:16-18)] is physically imperfect and unclean.  Such drainage indicates a weakening of the body such as the weakening of the spiritual body that sin brings.

A person who is spiritually impure and imperfect; cannot come into the presence of God the Father; except through the cleansing of the spiritual uncleanness of Trespass or Sin, through the process of sincere repentance and the application of the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Leviticus 15:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying, 15:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When any man hath a running issue out of his flesh, because of his issue he is unclean.

If the drainage be continual or intermittent, the person is unclean

15:3 And this shall be his uncleanness in his issue: whether his flesh run with his issue, or his flesh be stopped from his issue, it is his uncleanness. 15:4 Every bed, whereon he lieth that hath the issue, is unclean: and every thing, whereon he sitteth, shall be unclean.

Any person coming in contact with the uncleanness must wash and remain unclean until the evening [sunset]: Thus picturing the uncleanness remaining until the end of the day, and a New Beginning of purity in the new day.

15:5 And whosoever toucheth his bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

It is not just the affected person who is unclean, but all who are in close contact with him/her. This is a picture of the command of Paul:

1 Timothy 5:22 . . . . . neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.

This point of uncleanness by association, particularly refers to sinning vicariously through associating with the sins of others. Classic examples would include buying food and drink in restaurants and bars on the Sabbath or Holy Days; with the outrageous excuse that these folks are going to sin anyway, so we may participate in their sins {of course that excuse opens the way to participate in every sin that men do].

Another example is our tolerance for, and getting along with; apostates and false teachings among us. If we permit doctrine that has been proven false, to be taught among us, we have made ourselves and our groups spiritually unclean, we have allowed the temple of God which is the body of the faithful to be polluted by doctrinal uncleanness and we will be rejected by God if we do not quickly repent.

Titus 3:10 A man that is an heretick [from the sound doctrine of the whole Word of God] after the first and second admonition reject; 11Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

Leviticus 15:6 And he that sitteth on any thing whereon he sat that hath the issue shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. 15:7 And he that toucheth the flesh of him that hath the issue shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. 15:8 And if he that hath the issue spit [spatter] upon him that is clean; then he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

15:9 And what saddle soever he rideth upon that hath the issue shall be unclean.

15:10 And whosoever toucheth any thing that was under him [the unclean person] shall be unclean until the even: and he that beareth any of those things shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

15:11 And whomsoever he toucheth that hath the issue, and hath not rinsed his hands in water, he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. 15:12 And the vessel of earth, that he toucheth which hath the  issue, shall be broken: and every vessel of wood shall be rinsed in water.

Do we see how that Jesus Christ who taught this avoiding of any uncleanness, was providing a physical example that we are to avoid any spiritual uncleanness, for no one who is spiritually unclean or has any sort of spiritual  blemish of uncleanness, trespass or sin, may enter the presence of God the Father in heaven (1 Thess 4).

We are to avoid the unclean thing both physically and spiritually.

Romans 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

Spiritually we are to wash away all spiritual uncleanness and pollution by a passionate zeal to learn and live by every Word of God; by the washing of the water of the Word of God which if we keep it, teaches up to become holy and pure; as God is holy and pure, from all uncleanness and blemish of sin.

Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

The collective bride is to remove all blemishes of uncleanness and sin to make herself pure, holy and ready for her marriage to the Holy Husband Jesus Christ, and to enter the Holy Family of God the Father.

We are to work diligently to learn sound doctrine and to excise all error!  We are not to associate with any unclean thing and that means far more than vicarious sin: It also means that we are to turn away from proven false doctrine [teachings], which are spiritual pollution and the uncleanness of sin which separates us from God!

2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with

darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

17 Wherefore come out from among them [those polluted by the uncleanness of commandment breaking], and be ye separate [from the uncleanness of exposure to sin], saith the Lord, and touch not [the false teachings of spiritually unclean men] the unclean thing; and I will receive you. 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Leviticus 15:13 And when he that hath an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean.

15:14 And on the eighth day he shall take to him two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, and come before the LORD unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and give them unto the priest: 15:15 And the priest shall offer them, the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD for his issue.

The seed of men is considered unclean because it is an issue from the man and he and his wife are to wash and be unclean until the sun is set.

15:16 And if any man’s seed of copulation go out from him, then he shall wash all his flesh in water, and be unclean until the even. 15:17 And every garment, and every skin, whereon is the seed of copulation, shall be washed with water, and be unclean until the even. 15:18 The woman also with whom man shall lie with seed of copulation, they shall both bathe themselves in water, and be unclean until the even.

The drainage of the menses, makes a woman unclean for a full seven days after onset. At the end of the seventh full day she is to wash and be unclean until the evening.

Even if flow stops, intercourse is not to take place until after the seventh day ends. This is one of the sins in the Church of God today that men are not willing to wait the whole seven days for their women.

Ezekiel 18:5 But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right, 6And hath not eaten upon the mountains [eaten things that belong to idols; that is, learning the false doctrines of worldliness], neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour’s wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman,

Leviticus 15:19 And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even. 15:20 And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean: every thing also that she sitteth upon shall be unclean. 15:21 And whosoever toucheth her bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

15:22 And whosoever toucheth any thing that she sat upon shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. 15:23 And if it be on her bed, or on any thing whereon she sitteth, when he toucheth it, he shall be unclean until the even.

15:24 And if any man lie with her at all, and her flowers be upon him, he shall be unclean seven days; and all the bed whereon he lieth shall be unclean.

An extended issue of blood

15:25 And if a woman have an issue of her blood many days out of the time of her separation, or if it run beyond the time of her separation; all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation: she shall be unclean.

15:26 Every bed whereon she lieth all the days of her issue shall be unto her as the bed of her separation: and whatsoever she sitteth upon shall be unclean, as the uncleanness of her separation. 15:27 And whosoever toucheth those things shall be unclean, and shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

In the case of an extended issue of blood, she shall count seven days after the issue was healed and shall wash and on the Eighth Day she shall bring an offering. The Eighth Day is a new beginning.

15:28 But if she be cleansed of her issue, then she shall number to herself seven days, and after that she shall be clean.

15:29 And on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtles [turtle doves], or two young pigeons, and bring them unto the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 15:30 And the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for her before the LORD for the issue of her uncleanness.

This is all about entering the tabernacle or temple of God.

To enter into the presence of holiness those of the Mosaic Covenant were required to be pure and free from all physical impurity and uncleanness and sin; as an example for US, that we must be spiritually pure and free from all uncleanness, impurity and sin to be reconciled to and enter teh presence of God the Father in heaven.

That process is to be called out to Christ by God the Father; then adding to belief the works of sincere repentance, a baptismal commitment to go and sin no more, and then we shall receive the application of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Only then, when all uncleanness and sin has been removed, are we reconciled to God the Father and he will dwell in us through his Holy Spirit.

My friends, today the Church of God groups are filled with all manner of spiritual uncleanness and sin; idolizing men and exalting idols of men and organizations above their zeal to live by every Word of God.

To make ourselves ready to have a part in the collective bride, every blemish of uncleanness and sin must be removed.

1 Corinthians 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God [with any sin or spiritual uncleanness], him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

We must repent quickly of all of our spiritual uncleanness and sin, lest we fall into the strong correction of the Father in heaven.

Leviticus 15:31 Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness; that they die not in their uncleanness, when they defile my tabernacle that is among them.

15:32 This is the law of him that hath an issue, and of him whose seed goeth from him, and is defiled therewith; 15:33 And of her that is sick of her flowers, and of him that hath an issue, of the man, and of the woman, and of him that lieth with her that is unclean.

Leviticus 16:  The Fast of Atonement

For more on this subject please see:  The Fast of Atonement and Satan’s Fate  and   Hebrews 1-7   and   Hebrews: 8-13

The tabernacle and later the temple were to be made according to the pattern provided by God. The scriptures even give us detailed instructions on the plan of the millennial temple to be built by Christ (Eze 40 – 48).

All scripture was given for our instruction, and the tabernacle, priesthood and the Holy Days are no exception.

Inside the tabernacle in the far west was the Most Holy Place, which represents the throne room of God the Father. All those coming to God the Father had to turn their backs on the east [the sun as the symbol of Lucifer [Satan] for sun worshippers] and seek God the Father in the west.

Between the Most Holy Place and the priesthood and people, was a heavy curtain [drapery] that represented the barrier of sin that separates the people from God the Father.

The physical Aaronic high priest was an allegory of Jesus Christ who became the spiritual High Priest between God the Father and the people forever, on Wave Offering Sunday in 31 A.D. It is Jesus Christ who intercedes for us with God the Father and applies his reconciling sacrifice to the repentant.

At the death of Christ for the repentant, the veil representing the sin that separates us from God the Father was torn in two, revealing that the barrier of sin could be removed and the way for access by people to God the Father was through sincere repentance and the application of the sacrifice of Christ.

Jesus Christ died ONCE, yet the Passover [in the first month] represents the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ applied to the sins of the repentant Called Out of physical and spiritual Egypt; and the Day of Atonement [in the seventh month] represents the atoning sacrifice being applied to the repentant of the main harvest of humanity.

These things are explained in detail in the Hebrews studies, which I highly recommend reviewing in the context of this Day of Atonement: The Priesthood of God: Hebrews Part One and The Priesthood of God: Hebrews: Part Two

Instructions for the Day of Atonement

The physical High Priest may not enter the Most Holy Place anytime he wished, lest he die.

Leviticus 16:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the LORD, and died; 16:2 And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.

To enter the Most Holy Place the physical Aaronic high priest must first present a sin offering and a burnt offering for himself.

16:3 Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering.

To enter the Most Holy Place the physical Aaronic high priest must wash himself and put on the pure priestly linen garments.

16:4 He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on.

The physical high priest must offer the sin offering and the burnt offering for himself and also take two kids of goats for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering for the assembly of the people.

16:5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.

Verse six is only an explanation of what the bullock was for; the order of offering is laid out further on.

16:6 And Aaron shall offer his bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for himself, and for his house.

Then come the instructions for the two goats.

Both goats shall be presented before Christ at the door of the tabernacle.

16:7 And he shall take the two goats for the sin offering, and present them before the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

One lot shall be cast for sacrifice representing Christ, and another lot for the scapegoat. It is God who decides the fall of the lot, to demonstrate that God decides between good and evil as the ultimate judge of humanity

“Azazel” is translated as scapegoat in the KJV. This is misleading as the word scapegoat has connotations of wrongful accusation in modern English. “Azazel” actually means “for complete removal” and refers to this goat being removed as the source of the sins of the people.

16:8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.

The lot of Christ identifies the goat to be sacrificed as representative of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

As the lamb of Passover represented the application of the sacrifice of Christ to the early harvest of the Called Out; the goat of the Day of Atonement represents the sacrifice of Christ being applied to the rest of humanity in the fall main harvest.

16:9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD’s lot fell, and offer him for a sin offering.

The scape goat was to carry all  uncleanness and sin away from the main fall harvest of humanity. This represents the removal of all uncleanness and sin so that the repentant of the main harvest can be reconciled to God the Father through the application of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

The Azazel goat represents Satan being removed from influencing the fall main harvest of humanity.

16:10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.

After the sacrificial goat is killed as a Sin Offering for all the people; the Azazel goat is released in the wilderness; and then the Sin Offering is made for the physical high priest.

Please bear in mind that the physical high priest was a man who must have his own sins atoned for before he could enter the Most Holy Place. [The Hebrews study is key here.] Yet we now have a High Priest who has entered the Most Holy Place in heaven without any sacrifice for his own sins, because he was free from all sin and perfect before God the Father, as the sacrifice and sin bearer for both the Called Out of the early harvest and the main fall harvest of humanity.

16:11 And Aaron shall bring the bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house, and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself:

The fire that came from heaven and burns perpetually on the altar in the tabernacle and temple was another symbol of the Shekinah or teh Holy Spirit  [glory of the presence of God, which came down from heaven in the form of fire].

The sweet incense rising up to heaven represents the rising of prayers and praise offered to God the Father in heaven.

After sacrificing the bullock for himself the physical high priest entered the Most Holy Place on the Day of Atonement, with the censor filled with the holy fire and the incense of the prayers and praise of the repentant faithful.

The incense shall be placed before the Mercy Seat which is the name of the throne of the Father, that the throne might be covered in the prayers and praise of those who come to him in sincere repentance, petitioning him for reconciliation through the blood of the Sin Offering [Jesus Christ].

16:12 And he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the vail: 16:13 And he shall put the incense upon the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon the testimony, that he die not: 16:14 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.

The seven times sprinkling pictures the complete acceptance by God the Father of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ for all of humanity; first for the early harvest and now on Atonement for the main harvest of humanity.

Now the goat of the Sin Offering for the multitude is sacrificed, and its blood is also brought into the Most Holy Place and sprinkled on and before the throne of God the Father. This offering atones for the tabernacle itself because it is in the midst of sinful people.

The first goat is sacrificed

16:15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that is for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat: 16:16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.

No person may enter the tabernacle during the entire ceremony while the physical high priest is moving between the Most Holy Place and the alter of sacrifice and back into the Most Holy Place

16:17 And there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement in the holy place, until he [the high priest] come out [of the tabernacle after completing the ceremony], and have made an atonement for himself, and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.

In future all nations shall be grafted into Israel

16:18 And he [the high priest] shall go out [of the Most Holy Place] unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make an atonement for it [an atonement to cleanse the altar]; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it upon the horns of the altar round about. 16:19 And he shall sprinkle of the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.

After this ceremony of entry into the Most Holy P{lace and the reconciliation of the people to God the Father; the sins of the nations shall be laid on the head of the Scape Goat.

The live goat

16:20 And when he hath made an end of reconciling the holy place, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, he shall bring the live goat: 16:21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness: 16:22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.

As the live dove bore uncleanness taking it far away from the cleansed person; so the ”Azazel” goat bore the sins of the whole assembly taking them far away from the people.

Then the Aaronic high priest shall leave the tabernacle after having touched the goat of sin, and shall remove the holy garments and wash himself for his contact with the Satan goat.

Which garments picture the total purity from sin and the complete righteousness of Jesus Christ the High Priest of the New Covenant.

16:23 And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there: 16:24 And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth,

After sin has been atoned for by the Sin Offerings, reconciling the physical high priest and the people with God the Father; thus indicating that Jesus Christ would reconcile humanity to God the Father. The burnt offerings representing a reconciled people serving God the Father in whole hearted completeness, as Jesus Christ also serves God the Father in total passionate wholehearted loving faithful obedience and zeal to do the whole will of God the Father!

and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people. 16:25 And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar.

The fit [strong] man who took the goat into the wilderness, shall wash himself and his clothes before coming back among the people. This to cleanse even the uncleanness incurred by touching the Satan goat.

16:26 And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp.

The bodies of the goat and bull sin offerings, are to be removed from the camp and burned outside the congregation, according to the law of the Sin Offerings.

16:27 And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.

The men who carried the bodies of the in Offerings outside the camp shall also wash themselves and their clothes for the uncleanness of being associated with the sin being borne by the sacrifices.

16:28 And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.

The command for a complete fast on the tenth day of the seventh month. This is not just some ritual fast; it is to be a fast of sincere repentance from all sin, and a commitment to go and sin no more; so that the sin offering of Jesus Christ may be applied to us personally.

16:29 And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you: 16:30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the LORD. 16:31 It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.

The ceremony began with Aaron and was to proceed to his successors in the physical high priesthood. Jesus Christ has now replaced the high priesthood of Aaron as the spiritual High Priest of the New Covenant, removing our sins and reconciling the called out first fruits, by the application of the Passover sacrifice to God the Father in heaven; which sacrifice will be extended to the main fall harvest on the fast of Atonement.

Please do read the Hebrews study.

16:32 And the priest, whom he shall anoint, and whom he shall consecrate to minister in the priest’s office in his father’s stead, shall make the atonement, and shall put on the linen clothes, even the holy garments: 16:33 And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation.

All humanity is to be grafted into spiritual Israel in the millennial kingdom of God; after which all humanity that has lived and died with no chance will be resurrected in their courses and also grafted into spiritual Israel in the main fall Feast of Tabernacles Ingathering Harvest of humanity.

The spring Holy Days picture the early spiritual harvest, and the fall Holy Days of the Seventh Month picture the main harvest of humanity.

The Passover lamb picture the sacrifice for the early spiritual harvest of the Called Out, and the goat Sin Offering pictures the sacrifice of Christ  applied to the main fall harvest.

Israel, called out of Egypt, as a type of the spiritual called out from sin, a type of the early harvest!

Israel in the main fall harvest festivals is a type of the main harvest of all humanity to be reconciled to God the Father and brought into the family of God.

16:34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Leviticus 17

Leviticus 17:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 17:2 Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them; This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, saying, 17:3 What man soever there be of the house of Israel, that killeth an ox, or lamb, or goat [for any sacrifice], in the camp, or that killeth it out of the camp,

One may kill and eat anywhere, but any offering and sacrifice must be killed at the altar and the tabernacle / temple. This is about killing in sacrifice and is forbidding sacrifices to other gods by forbidding sacrifices in other places.  This is a command against idolatry and serving other gods; and it is a command against sacrificing in the High Places where the heathen sacrificed to their gods.  Finally this is a command to come before God and serve him, and forbids us worshiping God in our own ways; and not in the specific manner that God has commanded.

No sacrificial animal including the Passover lamb may be killed at any place excerpt at the temple in Jerusalem. This is a physical analogy that the called out of the New Covenant, have the spiritual sacrifice of Christ applied to them because God dwells in them and they are the Temple of God.

It is because there is no physical Temple that no physical sacrifices may be offered at this time. The physical sacrificial sacrifices were only physical teaching tools to teach the various aspects of the work and atonement of the Lamb of God. The Daily Sacrifice and all other sacrifices are now fulfilled in the spiritual sense by the work of Christ in heaven as our ONLY Mediator.

In the millennium a new physical Temple will be built by Christ, and the physical sacrifices will be renewed again [Eze 40 – 48) as physical tools to teach mankind the various aspects of the work and atonement of Christ.

17:4 And bringeth it not [alive] unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD; blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people:

The people are to no longer offer sacrifices where WE CHOOSE, but are to offer them before God at HIS Temple, for God shall dwell in his Temple.

17:5 To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices [alive], which they [had offered] offer in the open field, even that they may bring them [alive] unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest, and offer them for peace offerings unto the LORD.

All sacrifices must be killed at the tabernacle / temple, from this commandment forward, and the fullness of the commandments regarding each sacrifice must be carried out completely, so that men might learn the lessons intended by that particular type of sacrifice.

17:6 And the priest shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar of the LORD at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and burn the fat for a sweet savour unto the LORD.

All sacrifices must now be offered to God at HIS Temple, in the manner prescribed by God. To sacrifice in any other way or at any other place is to sacrifice to demons, for it is rebellion against the commandments and Word of God.

We are to be diligent to learn and to keep the whole Word of God with zeal. In terms of the physical sacrifices, we are to learn the lessons and intended meanings of the sacrifices in the spiritual sense, so that we can comprehend the work and atoning sacrifice of Christ in the spiritual sense.

17:7 And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.

Leviticus 17 is a double command. First that one must ONLY offer his sacrifices to God; thus indicating that Jesus Christ was fully faithful and worked to please God the Father ONLY! as we are also to be pleasing to God our Father in heaven! and second, that we are to worship God alone and not any idol or foreign [strange] god. And an idol is ANYTHING or PERSON that comes between us and God.

17:8 And thou shalt say unto them, Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice, 17:9 And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the LORD; even that man shall be cut off from among his people.

Here we are forbidden to eat any blood, for the life is the blood, and the blood represents the shed blood of Christ atoning for our sins. Be very careful to avoid eating any blood, even to the point of making your stock and then straining it before adding your other ingredients.

Jesus Christ has given us the wine offering to drink at Passover as a picture of his shed blood. In the sacrificial system, wherever wine is poured out as a part of the sacrifice it pictures the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

17:10 And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. 17:12 Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.

The Word of God which was inspired by Jesus Christ, is very clear and emphatic on this point. If you should fast on the day of Atonement; then also avoid eating blood for the penalty of failure to obey is the same.

17:13 And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust. 17:14 For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.

Of all animals, including the CLEAN creatures; if it dies naturally of itself, or is killed by other animals; It is unclean to you and no different than eating any other unclean thing. It is a type of sin polluting of our body and must be washed clean.

This is a physical allegory of the spiritual person becoming unclean by any sin, or learning any false doctrine, teaching or false way; that person can only be, and must be made clean by sincere repentance the application of the sacrifice of Christ and the washing of water of the Word of TRUTH, the whole Word of God.

17:15 And every soul that eateth that which died of itself, or that which was torn with beasts, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean.

If we do not wash ourselves spiritually, removing all uncleanness, with the water of the whole Word of God, by living by every Word of God; and if we do not cleanse our garments [which represents either the evil or the righteousness of people] we are not God’s people.

Revelation 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Revelation 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 8And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

If we will not cleanse ourselves from sin by sincere repentance we shall pay the price for our sins.

Leviticus 17:16 But if he wash them [his clothes] not, nor bathe his flesh; then he shall bear his iniquity.

Leviticus  18

Leviticus 18:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 18:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the LORD your God.

Egypt was a type of bondage to sin, and Canaan was type of sin, and as such this is a warning to spiritual Israel to avoid any association with sin and worldliness.

18:3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.

This specifically forbids participating in Christmas and Easter as well as all other pagan rooted non biblical festivals. We are not to learn false doctrines and teachings to keep them; we are to worship God as our God commands and not by pagan ways and teachings.

As physical Israel was to be faithful to all the whole Word of God in the letter; so spiritual Israel is to be faithful to the whole Word of God in BOTH the letter and the spiritual intent of the letter.

18:4 Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God.

The promise attached to being zealous to learn and keep the whole Word of God is eternal life!

18:5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.

Laws concerning marriages with near of kin. Before this time such marriages were permitted, so these are new laws for the Covenant people.

The term “uncover their nakedness” is a euphemism for sex.

18:6 None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the LORD.

18:7 The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

18:8 The nakedness of thy father’s wife [referring to a father’s wife who is not our mother] shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father’s nakedness.

This was a new law or Abraham would have been condemned in his day.

18:9 The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home, or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover.

18:10 The nakedness of thy son’s daughter, or of thy daughter’s daughter, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover: for theirs is thine own nakedness.

18:11 The nakedness of thy father’s wife’s daughter, begotten of thy father, she is thy sister, thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

18:12 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s sister [an aunt]: she is thy father’s near kinswoman.

18:13 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister [an aunt]: for she is thy mother’s near kinswoman.

18:14 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s brother, thou shalt not approach to his wife: she is thine aunt.

18:15 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy daughter in law: she is thy son’s wife; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.

18:16 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy brother’s wife: it is thy brother’s nakedness.

18:17 Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son’s daughter, or her daughter’s daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.

The following seems to have sprung from Jacob’s marriages.

18:18 Neither shalt thou take a wife to her sister, to vex her, to uncover her nakedness, beside the other in her life time.

Here is a specific command to avoid lying with a woman in her menses.

18:19 Also thou shalt not approach unto a woman to uncover her nakedness, as long as she is put apart for her uncleanness.

God repeats his command against adultery.

18:20 Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbour’s wife, to defile thyself with her.

Below is a multi faceted command against idolatry and sacrificing our children to idols. This referred to the ancient practice of throwing children into the fire as a sacrifice to false gods. In the spiritual sense this refers to failing to diligently teach our children about God and his ways and to willfully allow them to be filled with the idolatry of false doctrine [teachings].

18:21 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.

Homosexuality is declared an abomination by God; and God will ultimately destroy all abominations and unrepentant practitioners of abominations. In fact God regards all of these sins as abominations.

18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Inter species sexuality is a great abomination to God, yet in our modern world, so called scientists are working at bastardizing species of animals etc by intermingling their genes.

18:23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

Here God reveals why he is commanding Israel to utterly destroy the Canaanites. It is because of all these things and all their wickedness, that they were made a type of sin and were to be utterly destroyed; as an example that we may learn that we will also likewise be destroyed if we do not repent of sin like Rahab.

With God this was an act of great mercy on the Canaanites for they were made an example of the end of the unrepentant sinner, yet they shall be raised up in their time and will remember what came upon them for their sins and will quickly repent..

18:24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you: 18:25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

Entry into and possession of the Promised Land is contingent on NOT committing any of these abominations. This was commanded to physical Israel and is also applicable on both the physical and spiritual plane to spiritual Israel.

WE are espoused to Jesus Christ and are to be totally faithful to HIM: Not turning to false gods and the false teachings of false religions, nor to any of their abominations. For if we seek after the abominations of false gods we shall be utterly rejected and spued out by Jesus Christ (Rev 3:16).

18:26 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you: 18:27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;) 18:28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you. 18:29 For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people [cut off from spiritual Israel].

We are to be absolutely faithful and full of zeal to learn and live by every Word of God, to seek wholeheartedly to please God our Father in heaven and our espoused Husband Jesus Christ.

Under God’s law the closest kin that may marry are cousins, any relationship closer than that is forbidden. And any relationship; with idols and false religions and their false teachings, is also forbidden.

18:30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.

Leviticus 19

Leviticus 19:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 19:2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.

Physical Israel was to be pure from all sin as God is pure from all sin; spiritual Israel is t0 be pure and free from all sin as well. We are to be zealous to learn and keep the whole Word of God in BOTH letter and spirit; internalizing the very nature of God our Father in heaven, to become like him!

We now come to a series of commandments concerning our conduct.

The very first commandment is to fear [respect] our parents. The spiritual context, is that we are to fear [respect] God our Father in heaven, and we are to be faithfully obedient to ALL that he teaches and requires, and that we are to wholeheartedly work to please him at all times. and that we are to respect and sanctify God’s Sabbaths!  The plural usage for Sabbath, refers to the weekly Sabbath and the annual Sabbaths.

Today the Ekklesia pay lip service to the Sabbath, calling it holy time; and then defile God’s time by buying, selling, cooking, working and otherwise defiling God’s HOLY TIME. In doing this they condemn themselves with their own mouths! and worse, adding sin to sin; they then condemn those who are zealous for God’s Holy Sabbaths.

By acknowledging God’s Holy Sabbath and then polluting it, and persecuting those who do sanctify the Sabbaths of God, they defy God their Father in heaven breaking that commandment as well.

How can such men escape the anger and correction of God?

19:3 Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.

An idol is anything that separates us from our God.

Many today, make idols of worldly wealth and pleasures, and making idols of men,  loving ones organization, elder or leader to follow them blindly and without proving them by the Word of God. And as for the elders, they exalt their positions and pay cheques and the adulation of the brethren above the truth of God.

We exalt all these things above the Word of God! We do not put God and his Word FIRST in our lives, but follow the words of men blindly, as they lead us away from any zeal for the Word of God.

19:4 Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.

A reminder of the law concerning Peace Offerings

19:5 And if ye offer a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD, ye shall offer it at your own will. 19:6 It shall be eaten the same day ye offer it, and on the morrow: and if ought remain until the third day, it shall be burnt in the fire. 19:7 And if it be eaten at all on the third day, it is abominable; it shall not be accepted. 19:8 Therefore every one that eateth it shall bear his iniquity, because he hath profaned the hallowed thing of the LORD: and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

The law of gleaning and concern for the needy

19:9 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest. 19:10 And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.

It is sin to knowingly make a false statement. It is also a great sin to use and twist an out of context fragment of truth to deceive about the whole truth. Making a mistake is not lying if we correct the matter as soon as possible after learning of our error.

19:11 Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.

To swear falsely is to take the name of God in vain.

19:12 And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.

We are not to steal either directly or by defrauding.

Do you begin to see that the Ten Commandments are a summation of these basic laws!?

19:13 Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.

We are to be positively concerned for the needy and the handicapped.

19:14 Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD.

We are to be fair and just in all our ways; not being partial to persons for reason of riches or poverty.

In the spiritual sense this command is broken by all those who love the rich or demean the poor; and most especially to all those who exalt men and organizations as their idols because they are respecters of persons. We are to always test all things by the Word of God and to hold fast to God’s Word while rejecting anything that is contrary to the Word of God; regardless of what title anyone may claim for themselves or how much we respect the man; WE MUST RESPECT AND LOVE GOD MORE!

19:15 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.

We are not to spread unsubstantiated rumor which is gossip and tale bearing nor are we to falsely accuse others.

19:16 Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour; I am the LORD.

We are not to hate our neighbour by allowing him to continue in unrebuked sin! We are to warn our neighbour and we are to rebuke sin, so that perchance we might save our neighbour!

Many are backwards in thinking that love is to overlook false teachings and sins, and not to rebuke the error that is leading our brethren to their own destruction. If we truly loved them, we would warn them and openly rebuke their sin in the hope that they might possibly be turned back to God and be saved.

19:17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer [watch him commit sin without a warning] sin upon him.

We are not to hate any person. Remember the words of John in 1, 2 and 3 John? The God of the so called Old Testament has not changed! He is a God of LOVE and has a deep concern for all humanity!

19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

We are not to mix seed or fibers in cloth, or to mix kinds of animals. The focus on this is PURITY. The spiritual lesson is to keep ourselves PURE and unspotted by the false doctrines and prophecies of false religions. We are not to allow our white linen garments of righteousness to become mixed with the fibers of unrighteousness and error and sin, of impurity and defilement of false ways.

This is a great sin that began with the Nicolaitane form of church governance, placing men between the brethren and God.

Today many groups have been deceived into believing false pagan prophecies and follow these pagan prophecies rather than the Word of God. Many will fall at this stumbling block of trying to mix truth with error, ending up with an abominable mixture of a little truth polluted and defiled by much error; so that the leaven of error pollutes the whole doctrine.

19:19 Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.

In those days excessive debt that could not be paid off was dealt with by indentured servitude.

In other words the debtor signed a contract for himself or a member of his family to work off the debt and the contracted person became the bondservant of the creditor for the required period of time.

This law is about such a creditor taking advantage of someone under his direct authority and control. If he was male and his servant was a female and he took advantage of that situation abusing his power and control over the person, it was considered to be forcing the lady and an act of sin, and he was to make a sin offering for his sin.

The offering was to be a ram which was a very expensive price, and in another place, he was required to marry the lass and forfeit the possibility of any future divorce, and also to pay another expensive price to her father for her .

Deuteronomy 22:28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; 29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

As for the lady, we must understand that what was meant by scourging in Lev 19:20 was far different than the Roman scourging.

Christ suffered an exceptional scourging [punishment] by the Roman method, designed to punish and weaken him for his execution.

The Hebrew word “scourge” as used in Lev 19:20, would be better translated as “thoroughly investigated” the original Hebrew word biqqoreth expressing the idea of investigation.

H1244 biqqoreth bik·kō·reth meaning to thoroughly investigate: translated as scourged in reference to the Middle Ages practice of investigation by trial or afflicting. This is a cultural translation issue.

Strong’s Number H1244 matches the Hebrew בּקִּ ֶֹ רת (biqqoreth ), which occurs 1 time in 1 verse in the Hebrew concordance of the KJV

**********

I have heard of many cases where women have been convinced by their men friends that oral or manual sex is not really sex, and they then do this, thinking themselves to still be virgins.

I have news for you, Bill Clinton was wrong. ANY kind of behavior that is intended to produce any type of sexual activity between unmarried persons is pornea, that is, such activity is forbidden! And anyone who performs such activity is no longer a virgin in the emotional and spiritual sense.

We are to remain BOTH physical and spiritual virgins until lawful marriage. This also has its spiritual application! We are NOT to try get as close as we can to paganism:  We are not to study and involve ourselves in doing or believing as the pagans do.

19:20 And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged [investigated]; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free. 19:21 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, even a ram for a trespass offering. 19:22 And the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering before the LORD for his sin which he hath done: and the sin which he hath done shall be forgiven him.

The fruit of the trees you plant shall not be harvested for the first three years; that which is harvested in the fourth year belongs to God as the first fruits to rejoice before God with at the Festivals, and that harvested in the fifth year is ours.

19:23 And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of. 19:24 But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise the LORD withal. 19:25 And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield unto you the increase thereof: I am the LORD your God.

Again we are not to eat any blood. We are not to use enchantments or spells, and we are not to observe times [astrology]. I have noticed since I was first baptized in 1976 that the observing of times and horoscopes which is forbidden as an abomination by God, is commonly practiced in the Ekklesia especially by ladies. This is a grave sin which will keep you out of the resurrection to spirit.

19:26 Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.

19:27 Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard. 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

Sexual morality is very important to God; it is the backbone of a successful society; and the sanctity of marriage is to teach us that our marriage to Christ must be one of the utmost fidelity forever.

19:29 Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.

All the annual and weekly Sabbaths are to be kept faithfully, for they represent our faithfulness to our God. If we are not interested in pleasing and spending time with our Creator now, why would we do so for all eternity? Our zeal for the Sabbaths of God now, reveals to our Lord the extent of our zeal to be with him in eternity.

If we are not zealous for God’s Sabbaths now; we show God that we will not be zealous for him in eternity.

19:30 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

Do NOT seek out occult persons and things. No NEVER; let us always depend on our God and not on the great liar his enemy! There are many in the Ekklesia who seek out the words of false prophets rather than sincerely seeking God’s Word. These persons will fall into the correction that they fear, as they follow the blind and they will end up in the same pit as these wicked.

19:31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.

We should have respect for the old aged and especially for the elderly in the faith.

19:32 Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.

Be hospitable to the stranger, without compromising with the Word of God.

19:33 And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. 19:34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

Be just and fair in all our doings; for justice is of God.

19:35 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure. 19:36 Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt.

When we commit to the spiritual New Covenant with God at baptism, we are committing to learn and keep the whole Word of God; to internalize the very nature of God and to become at one with and totally like our righteous Father in Heaven!

19:37 Therefore shall ye observe all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 20

In certain seasons of the year and in times of drought children were chosen to be sacrificed and thrown into a blazing fire before the idol of Moloch and various other idols. God expressly forbids this barbaric practice.

There is a spiritual facet of this situation, because when we teach our children to live contrary to the Word of God and teach them to serve idols of men, organizations, or worldly pleasures; when we do these things we are teaching our children to serve our idols just like the Canaanites did, only in a slightly different way.

When we do not diligently teach our children the way of eternal life, and we teach them to exalt anything, including corporate churches and leaders; above the whole Word of God, to follow then and turn away from any zeal to live by every Word of God; we are sacrificing our own children by leading them into the lake of fire, as the Canaanites threw their children into the fire of Molech.

ALL idolaters will be destroyed and that includes those who idolize the Ekklesia and its  leaders and organizations to follow them contrary to the whole Word of God.

Leviticus 20:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 20:2 Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones. 20:3 And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name.

Those who say that we must understand the bible as some man interprets it, are idolaters! We are to test the words of men against God’s Word and to hold fast to God’s Word! Not the other way around!

20:4 And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he giveth of his seed unto Molech, and kill him not: 20:5 Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Molech, from among their people.

God is AGAINST any person who is an idolater!

God will destroy the person who idolizes anything at all, and teaches his children to do likewise! We are to worship Almighty God alone and with a sincere whole heart; we are not to allow any person or thing to become between us and our God; for such persons or things have then become our IDOLS!

Those who read the scriptures as interpreted by men and do not test the words of men by the scriptures and follow men ONLY as they are faithful to live by every Word of God; have made that man their idol and will be destroyed by God for their idolatry unless they repent.

Those who teach their children to follow men as  being equal to following God; are leading their children to destruction and are themselves speeding on to their own destruction.

20:6 And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

It is the Eternal who sets us apart to holiness [sanctifies us]; the deceitful words of false and unconverted teachers who would lead us away from the whole Word of God to follow themselves; will only lead us to the same destruction that they are falling into.

20:7 Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. 20:8 And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD which sanctify you.

God repeats these things over and over to Moses, to impress on us the importance of keeping these things in the physical and spiritual sense. We are to be faithful to learn and to live by every Word and by the whole will of God our Father in heaven.

20:9 For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.

God emphasizes the sanctity of marriage to teach us that our marriage to Christ is to be sanctified in faithfulness for ALL ETERNITY, with NO departure from zeal and passionate cleaving to our eternal Husband Jesus Christ.

20:10 And the man that committeth adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

Laws Governing Sexual Conduct

20:11 And the man that lieth with his father’s wife hath uncovered his father’s nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. 20:12 And if a man lie with his daughter in law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them.

God loves the homosexual, therefore the deeds of homosexuals are an abomination to God; and the homosexual person is to be killed so that his example does not infect others. Today there are millions who not only commit this wickedness; they loudly proclaim pride in their sin, so that their sin exceeds that of Sodom.  This is the duty of the government and no individual is to take it upon himself to attack anyone.

20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

20:14 And if a man take a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you.

20:15 And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall slay the beast.

20:16 And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

20:17 And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.

Any man and women who have intercourse during the seven days of uncleanness from the onset of menses shall be cut off from the congregation of God , just as surely as those who will not fast on Atonement. This is a physical law having the spiritual application that this blood curse was given as an allegory of sin coming into the world teaching the need to eschew, abhor and avoid all sin and defilement.  They must abstain for the full commanded  seven days from the onset to the sunset ending the seventh day.  This is an allegory that we are to avoid any and all contamination by sin no matter how strong the temptation.

20:18 And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover her nakedness; he hath discovered her fountain, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.

A repeat of certain commandments regarding sexual matters

20:19 And thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister, nor of thy father’s sister: for he uncovereth his near kin: they shall bear their iniquity.

20:20 And if a man shall lie with his uncle’s wife, he hath uncovered his uncle’s nakedness: they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless.

20:21 And if a man shall take his brother’s wife, it is an unclean thing: he hath uncovered his brother’s nakedness; they shall be childless.

The only exception being levirate marriage to the wife of a childless brother

Entry into the physical and spiritual Promised Land, is fully contingent on learning and zealously living by every Word of God.

20:22 Ye shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, spue you not out.

We are not to commit these sins as the Canaanites did for which God commanded their destruction, or we will likewise be destroyed.

The history of Israel in Egypt and after, up to the advent of the physical Christ, are for our instruction and are example to teach us spiritual lessons.

Physical Israel is a type of the spiritually called out to Christ.

Egypt a type of bondage to sin.

The Promised Land is a type of eternal life with God.

Canaan is a type of the unrepentant sinner and the end of the unrepentant sinner which is to be excluded form the Promised Land of eternal life and to be destroyed for their unrepented sin.

20:23 And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.

20:24 But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am the LORD your God, which have separated you from other people.

We are to learn from these examples about the physically clean and unclean; to discern between the spiritually clean and unclean, and to turn from the defilement of internalizing and doing BOTH the physically and spiritually abominable unclean thing.

20:25 Ye shall therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner of living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean.

20:26 And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.

This is in reference to anyone seeking guidance from spirits either directly or through pothers; which is idolatry and spiritual adultery against our Lord.

20:27 A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.

Leviticus 21

No priest of God may touch any dead body that is not of near kin to himself. Spiritually all priests are to remain undefiled by association with the wages of sin which is death. The called out of the New Covenant are all called to become priests after our High Priest Jesus Christ and are to remain unpolluted by sin and the uncleanness of the wages of sin, which is death.

Leviticus 21:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people: 21:2 But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother. 21:3 And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled. 21:4 But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.

The called out must not mourn for the dead by afflicting themselves physically, so that they abase themselves before the public. Public asceticism [self abuse] is not humility before God, it is a fraud designed to make people think that such men are godly, when they actually reject God’s ways and do this to impress the spiritually ignorant.

Public shows of mourning for those not of near kin, or fraudulent shows of fake put on humility, are designed to impress and deceive the public.

We are to follow the whole Word of God and not to follow any such man who lives in rebellion against God while putting on a public show of false humility.

21:5 They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

We are to be holy as God is holy, teaching the righteousness of the TRUTH of the whole Word of God, and not making grand public gestures to deceive people into turning away from God to follow men.

21:6 They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

The called out, are to be holy in their household and are forbidden to marry an immoral or a divorced woman [an unconverted spouse]. As this was a law for the priesthood in physical Mosaic Israel, it is a binding law in Spiritual Israel.

If a man is married to a woman and they divorce “while remaining in the faith”; they may not remarry another.

If a woman is divorced for pornea [disloyalty] which is the only lawful reason for divorce; then she is a lewd adulterous woman and is to be rejected from the assembly as unconverted.

Matthew 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: [and (for)] whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Leviticus 21:7 They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.

Called Out brethren are absolutely forbidden to divorce and then remarry “within the faith”. Jesus Christ said that those who do so are living in adultery.

There are many in the assemblies, including elders who are living in adultery today; for which cause they have been separated from God and their prayers are not heard.

Yet if one’s spouse turns away and hates the faith to leave it and to leave the faithful spouse; the faithful are then free to remarry only within the faith.

21:8 Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he [the Called out of the New Covenant priesthood] shall be holy unto thee: for I the LORD, which sanctify you, am holy.

Our offspring who reject this way will face judgment if they do not repent. Therefore we must diligently teach them to be faithful to the whole Word of God.

21:9 And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

The physical high priest was the mediator of the Mosaic Covenant, ia a type of Jesus Christ the Mediator of the New Covenant; and as such, must maintain the allegory of Christ, and must not mourn for any dead person, even his nearest kin, by damaging his body, or degrading himself before the people.

21:10 And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes; 21:11 Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother; 21:12 Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.

The High Priest must take a virgin to wife! What marvelous and complete symbolism; for the bride of the physical High Priest is representative of the bride of the spiritual High Priest Jesus Christ! The bride of Christ has been made pure as a virgin through the atoning sacrifice of her Husband and her zeal to be faithful to HIM ALONE, above ALL others!

21:13 And he shall take a wife in her virginity. 21:14 A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.

Revelation 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women [false religions, gods and doctrines]; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. 5And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

Leviticus 21:15 Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the LORD do sanctify him.

The physical high priest of Aaron, if he is faithful; is sanctified as a type of the eternal spiritual High Priest of the New Covenant, Jesus Christ!

As no person with any blemish out of the sons of Aaron may approach to serve in the Temple; so NO person with any spiritual blemish may be changed to spirit to serve in the eternal spiritual priesthood!

As physical Israel was to be holy as God is holy; how much more should the New Covenant spiritual Israel be free from all sin and defilement and be holy as God is Holy?

Ephesians  5:25 . . . . Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

Leviticus 21:16 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 21:17 Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

Jude 1:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire [with warnings and by rebuking sin]; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh [blemished with worldliness and the sins of the flesh, or any defilement of sin and all uncleanness].

All these physical blemishes are types of the spiritual blemishes and defilements of sin and uncleanness that will keep us OUT of the resurrection to spirit. We are to be spiritually clean and free from all sin and from all uncleanness; if we want to enter into the resurrection to spirit.

We must NEVER compromise with zeal to learn, understand and live by every Word of God, until doing so becomes our very nature!  In that way God’s nature which is  contained in his Word, will become our nature; and we shall be like him and at one with God our Father in heaven!

Leviticus 21:18 For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous, 21:19 Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, 21:20 Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken; 21:21 No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

Physically blemished priests are not to offer sacrifices being imperfect types of the perfect Christ, but may eat the bread of God; which represents internalizing Jesus Christ the Bread of Life.

21:22 He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy. 21:23 Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them.

21:24 And Moses told it [taught these commands of God] unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.

Leviticus 22

The priests of the Mosaic and the New Covenant may not approach holy things in a state of defilement by sin. In the spiritual New Covenant application this means that no person who is defiled by sin may have a part ion the resurrection to eternal life, unless they have their sin atoned for, by repentance and the application of the sacrifice of Christ.

Jesus Christ will only apply his sacrifice to the sincerely repentant who commit to go and sin no more. The false teaching that Christ is love and forgives automatically, being full of mercy so we need not be zealous to learn and live by every Word of God, is of Satan.

Leviticus 22:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 22:2 Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me: I am the LORD. 22:3 Say unto them, Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, [the unrepentant sinner who is defiled by sin is cut off from God] that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD.

Physical uncleanness is a type of the spiritual uncleanness of pollution of sin.

Notice here that sunset and evening are used synonymously; proving that evening truly means sunset. Yes you CAN prove that evening means literal sunset from the Bible.

22:4 What man soever of the seed of Aaron is a leper, or hath a running issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he be clean. And whoso toucheth any thing that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose seed goeth from him; 22:5 Or whosoever toucheth any creeping thing, whereby he may be made unclean, or a man of whom he may take uncleanness, whatsoever uncleanness he hath; 22:6 The soul which hath touched any such shall be unclean until even, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he wash his flesh with water. 22:7 And when the sun is down, he shall be clean, and shall afterward eat of the holy things; because it is his food.

Besides the unclean dead creatures, anything that is not killed by human hand is unclean for us.

22:8 That which dieth of itself, or is torn with beasts, he shall not eat to defile himself therewith; I am the LORD.

No sinner shall enter the spiritual family of God

2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness [sin] of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

We are to be spiritually pure from all sin and from all teachings contrary to the whole Word of God and we are to be pure and clean from all compromising with ay part of the whole Word of God, if we want to enter the resurrection of the just.

2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

God will not dwell in an unclean sinful person!  We must repent and then go on to: SIN NO MORE! Through the indwelling strength of the Spirit of God!

17 Wherefore come out from among them [sinners and those who teach license to sin and compromise with the Word of God], and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

Leviticus 22:9 They shall therefore keep mine ordinance, lest they bear sin for it, and die therefore, if they profane it: I the LORD do sanctify them.

As only those of the Mosaic priesthood under the Mosaic Covenant may approach holy things; Only those called out to become priests of the New Covenant, and repent and make a baptismal commitment: TO GO AND SIN NO MORE: may be given the Holy Spirit.

22:10 There shall no stranger [unconverted person] eat of the holy thing: a sojourner [visitor] of the priest, or an hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing.

In the Mosaic covenant those who are purchased may eat the holy things; symbolizing that those called into the New Covenant have been bought with a great price, the life of Jesus Christ their Creator.

The children of the FAITHFUL Called Out, are sanctified by their FAITHFUL parents, as long as they are subject to their FAITHFUL parents.

22:11 But if the priest buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat.

A priest’s daughter who takes a husband, is to be subject to her husband and is no longer sanctified by her father since she has left his house. But if she return to her father’s family childless and is subject to her father again, she is to be sanctified by her obedience to her father who is a faithful priest of God.

22:12 If the priest’s daughter also be married unto a stranger, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things. 22:13 But if the priest’s daughter be a widow, or divorced, and have no child, and is returned unto her father’s house, as in her youth, she shall eat of her father’s meat: but there shall be no stranger eat thereof.

A penalty for sinning by ignorance in holy things

22:14 And if a man eat of the holy thing unwittingly, then he shall put the fifth part thereof unto it, and shall give it unto the priest with the holy thing.

We are not to remain in sin and then continue to partake of holy things. This applies particularly to those modern elders who draw tithes from the brethren will remaining in a sinful state; teaching false things, failing to strongly rebuke sin and failing to set an example of enthusiastic zeal to live by every Word of God.

22:15 And they shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, which they offer unto the LORD; 22:16 Or suffer them to bear the iniquity of trespass, when they eat their holy things: for I the LORD do sanctify them.

The burnt offerings of the people shall be of their free will and not extorted from them by words or pressure. This is a type of the money offerings of the brethren today; which must never be coerced.

22:17 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 22:18 Speak unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them, Whatsoever he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, that will offer his oblation for all his vows, and for all his freewill offerings, which they will offer unto the LORD for a burnt offering; 22:19 Ye shall offer at your own will a male without blemish, of the beeves, of the sheep, or of the goats.

The animal offering must be from the free will of the person, but it must be without blemish for it represents the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ who was without any blemish of sin.

22:20 But whatsoever hath a blemish, that shall ye not offer: for it shall not be acceptable for you. 22:21 And whosoever offereth a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD to accomplish his vow, or a freewill offering in beeves or sheep, it shall be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no blemish therein. 22:22 Blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a wen, or scurvy, or scabbed, ye shall not offer these unto the LORD, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar unto the LORD.

A freewill offering is not a sacrifice to God but is a sharing and eating [feasting] in rejoicing with family, friends and others in the presence of God (Deu 16:10-11) at the Feasts or in rejoicing at some significant occasion.

The freewill offering is not a sacrifice to God, but is to be eaten by the offerer and shared with others in rejoicing at the Feasts.

Deuteronomy 16:10 And thou shalt keep the feast of weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto [share with the Levites and eat in the presence of] the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: 16:11 And thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to place his name there.

A freewill offering is to be without blemish v 21 but may be less perfect than an offering made to God.

Leviticus 22:23 Either a bullock or a lamb that hath any thing superfluous or lacking in his parts, that mayest thou offer for a freewill offering; but for a vow it shall not be accepted.

Back to the rules of sacrifices to God

22:24 Ye shall not offer unto the LORD that which is bruised, or crushed, or broken, or cut; neither shall ye make any offering thereof in your land.

The various animal and unleavened bread offerings represent the sacrifice of Christ for the repentant, therefore the unrepentant stranger may not offer any animal or unleavened bread offering sacrifice.

Exodus 12:48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised [New Covenant: converted in heart], and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised [unconverted person] person shall eat thereof.

Leviticus 22:25 Neither from a stranger’s [the unrepentant] hand shall ye offer the bread of your God of any of these; because their corruption is in them, and blemishes be in them: they shall not be accepted for you.

Animals from eight days old shall be accepted as offerings. This is because the eighth day represents a new beginning, as does circumcision on the eighth day and the Eighth Day Feast also represents a new beginning.

22:26 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 22:27 When a bullock, or a sheep, or a goat, is brought forth [born], then it shall be seven days under the dam; and from the eighth day and thenceforth it shall be accepted for an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

The mother and the young may not be killed on the same day

22:28 And whether it be cow, or ewe, ye shall not kill it and her young both in one day.

The Thank Offering must be eaten on the same day it is offered

22:29 And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will. 22:30 On the same day it shall be eaten up; ye shall leave none of it until the morrow: I am the LORD.

22:31 Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I am the LORD.

As Mosaic Israel was to hallow God and exalt him above all else in the heavens and the earth; so we of the New Covenant called out, are to do likewise, and to exalt our most holy God above all things in heaven or on the earth to worship and obey him; learning and keeping all his ways and Word forever!

Because God called Israel and brought them out of bondage in Egypt they are to exalt him as most holy forever. Because God called spiritual Israel and brought them out of bondage to sin [of which Egypt was a type] WE are to exalt him as most holy forever, and are to be  zealous to learn and to keep the whole Word of God without any hint of compromise, forever.

22:32 Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the LORD which hallow you [make your holy], 22:33 That brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 23

Leviticus 23:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.

The Weekly Sabbath is an unbroken repetitive cycle of seven days as a memorial of the physical creation and an acknowledgment of the Creator. Those who claim that they must begin a count of seven days form the new moon, break this commandment of God to maintain the seven day cycle from its beginning at creation because each month they break that cycle. If they count four seven day cycles to 28 days and then they ignore a day or two before restarting the cycle, they reject the Word of God for their own false reasoning.

23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day [Friday sunset to Saturday sunset] is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

Cooking, Buying  and Work on the Weekly Sabbath

The Sabbath was instituted by our Creator on the seventh day after the completion of six days of creative activity. (Gen 2:2-3). The Sabbath was made for man (Mark 2:27) so that man could follow the example of his Creator and rest from his labors. It is not reasonable to think that God should need to rest, therefore he rested as an example for us.

It is lawful to do those things that God has commanded us to do on the Sabbath, since God is also the maker of the Sabbath and can therefore tell us what he wants done on HIS Sabbath. For this reason the Priests may fulfill their God commanded duties on the Sabbath.

Since the Sabbath was made for the good of man we may also do acts of compassion and mercy. We are NOT to use the “ox in the ditch:” to justify and excuse habitual Sabbath breaking. We are not to travel on the Sabbath to the extent that it becomes a tiring labor, nor are we to burden others by buying gas, food, drink and  lodgings on Sabbath. We are to use the Preparation Day to properly prepare for the Sabbath.

We are not to do any cooking on the Sabbath (Ex 16:22-24) nor to do our own thing nor to even think our own thoughts. We are to be totally dedicated to our God on his Holy Sabbath Day (IS 56 and Is 58).

You shall do no work at all on God’s Holy Sabbath except for that which God himself commands and acts of mercy for the health of others; nor shall you be responsible for any others doing any work. To pay others to serve us in a restaurant is no different than to pay others to work at any other service. To pay anyone else to do what we would not do ourselves is HYPOCRISY! We are to avoid all appearance of sin.

Exodus 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Cooking, Buying and Work on Holy Days

Exodus  12:15 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.

This statement that food may be prepared during the Feast of Unleavened Bread has been used to justify for preparation on all subsequent and all other Holy Day Annual Sabbaths.  Is that a valid assumption?

This verse actually refers to the very First Feast of Unleavened Bread: and its two High Holy Days, allowing food to be prepared and eaten. Some extrapolate from this verse that food may also be prepared and eaten on all subsequent Feasts of ULB and all other High Holy Days.

It is necessary to understand that this particular scripture is a history of Israel coming out of Egypt.

After that FIRST Passover all leftovers had been burned, there was no prepared food available. As a singular act of mercy, God permitted food to be prepared and eaten on this one “ox in the ditch” occasion. Nowhere else in all scripture is such a liberty [to prepare food on a Sabbath or High Day] mentioned. This is simply a record of a special allowance, an act of mercy;  made for a special situation.

This one time act of mercy is an exception to the rule and does NOT justify breaking the commandments for the weekly Sabbath and subsequent annual High Day Sabbaths!

Brethren we have sinned against God and His weekly and annual Sabbaths!  We must quickly repent and turn from this sin of using Holy Time for our own purposes and pleasures before we are corrected as physical Israel / Judah were corrected for the same sin!

The fact that the Passover was the preparation day for the first annual Sabbath of the  Feast of Unleavened Bread on which it was well understood that no work including cooking was to be done, is made clear by the faithful who rushed to entomb Jesus BEFORE the High Day of Unleavened bread began at sunset that evening.

John 19:31   The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

 SERVILE WORK

In Leviticus 23 the statements regarding the High Holy Days refer to commands not to do any servile work. This has been taken to mean something different than the “do NOT do ANY work” of the Sabbath command; and has been used to justify cooking and doing other work on the High Days.

The word “abodah” was translated in the KJV as “servile” . which was not a good translation as “servile” meant “servants work” . In the past Strong’s has defined this word as “work of any kind” and has more recently updated that translation to “labourious work”. The related word “abidah” refers to ANY and ALL work or service.

Reference #4399 which is translated as “work” as found in Lev 23:3,7,8,21,25 et al. [167 occurences of which 129 are “work”, 12 as “business”, plus other related uses].

NOTE: Abodah, “service, servile, work…” is #5656 from the root #5647 “abad” meaning “serve, do, till, servant, work…”

In reality far from justifying some types of work like cooking, the term “servile work” is a redoubling of the command to do no work or ANY kind; for emphatic emphasis!

No work of any kind, including food preparation and purchasing, is to be done on any weekly or annual Sabbath!  Only acts of mercy for health and safety and anything specifically commanded by God to be done on the weekly and annual Sabbaths, may be done.  We are to properly prepare on the preparation day so that all might rest from physical duties and engage in spiritual pursuits, learning about God on His Holy Time

Those who follow the Rabbinic Calendar, just ask the Rabbins!  They will tell you that I speak the truth on this subject; or in claiming that the Rabbins must be followed, are you dishonestly cherry picking what to follow and what not to follow?

Of course we know the answer to that; we follow whatever is personally convenient and fits in with our preconceived beliefs no matter how confused and inconsistent, or how wrong we are!  We would never think of living by every Word of God!

The Weekly Sabbath and the Annual Holy Days are Holy Time. No work of any kind is to be done on them. That means no food preparation and cooking and no buying of food or drink. Food and drink must be prepared on the previous day which is the Preparation Day for the Weekly and Annual Sabbaths.

These Festivals, Holy Convocations and the Appointed Times not all mentioned here are covered intensively at our Outreach Site. Please see the categories at the right hand side bar at the Outreach Site. I will make few comments here, as to cover each day properly requires a post in itself.

Here begins the early harvest festivals of the called out from the Egyptian bondage to sin; picturing the spiritually called out from bondage to sin.

23:4 These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.

Passover is on the 14th day and is NOT on the 15th day as some suppose. We observe Passover as the sun sets beginning the fourteenth day because that was the time of its observance in Egypt; BEFORE midnight when the Destroyer came through the land; and because we follow the example of Jesus Christ.

23:5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD’s passover.

At sunset beginning the 15th day, Israel marched out of Egypt

23:6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.

23:7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

23:8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

The Wave Offering

23:9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 23:10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest: 23:11

And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath [a Sunday] the priest shall wave it.

This pictures the resurrection at the time the sheaf was cut immediately after the sun set on the Sabbath;  and the ascension of Christ to the Father in heaven, the first of the harvest from the flesh, at the same time that the Wave Sheaf was lifted up after the Morning Daily Sacrifice.

23:12 And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the LORD. 23:13 And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the LORD for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin. 23:14 And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

The count to Pentecost, which is a count of seven weekly Sabbaths from the Sunday of the Wave Offering; and the day AFTER the seventh Sabbath [a Sunday] is the Feast of First fruits .

23:15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete: 23:16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

Two loaves are offered picturing INCREASE; they are to be made with leaven picturing some sin remaining, which is in turn covered by a sin offering.

23:17 Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals; they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.

23:18 And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the LORD.

23:19 Then ye shall sacrifice one kid of the goats for a sin offering, and two lambs of the first year for a sacrifice of peace offerings.

23:20 And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits for a wave offering before the LORD, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the LORD for the priest.

On this Feast of First fruits no work of any kind may be done except that commended by God

23:21 And ye shall proclaim on the selfsame day, that it may be an holy convocation unto you: ye shall do no servile [no work of any kind] work therein: it shall be a statute for ever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.

The law of mercy called gleaning given. It is placed here because besides being an act of mercy for the physically poor, this was an allegory that the first fruits are a small gleaning from the earth, and the main harvest of humanity is not yet come.

23:22 And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not make clean riddance of the corners of thy field when thou reapest, neither shalt thou gather any gleaning of thy harvest: thou shalt leave them unto the poor, and to the stranger: I am the LORD your God.

The physical fall harvest Festivals; pictures the main spiritual harvest of humanity. On the first day of the seventh month, beginning the main spiritual harvest; the whole of humanity is called to repent before God with the trumpet call.

23:23 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 23:24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. 23:25 Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

The fast of atonement pictures the removal of Satan forever and sincere repentance with the atoning sacrifice applied to all peoples [as it was applied to the called out of Egypt only, at Passover].

23:26 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 23:27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls [a total fast of repentance] , and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. 23:28 And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.

23:29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people. 23:30 And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. 23:31 Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. 23:32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.

The call to repentance and the fasting of repentance then lead to the bringing in of the main harvest of humanity through the Feast of Tabernacles.

23:33 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 23:34 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD. 3:35 On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

23:36 Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein.

23:37 These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day: 23:38 Beside the sabbaths of the LORD, and beside your gifts, and beside all your vows, and beside all your freewill offerings, which ye give unto the LORD.

Some commands regarding how we are to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.

23:39 Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.

We must cut small branches of good trees and rejoice with them for seven days. This is covered in detail in the links at the top of this page. Nothing is said about making booths from the branches which is an assumption of men.

23:40 And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days. 23:41 And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year.

The Feasts as well as the cutting of branches on the first day and rejoicing with them for seven days is forever. yet this commandment is NOT obeyed by most today and such people have never kept the Feast of Tabernacles as God has commanded them!

Each year they go out to keep their own ways on their own [false apostate Rabbinic Calendar] days, contrary to the Word of God and then claim that they are pleasing God! How very strange! To please God we must do as God commands!

. . . It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.

Now comes a separate command to dwell in booths, which are actually tabernacles or tents or any temporary structure, so that we may learn that being called out of this world we are only foreigners and strangers in this world, seeking a better world of righteousness. I will do into this thoroughly in the Exodus and the coming out of Egypt.

23:42 Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born [including spiritual Israelites] shall dwell in booths: 23:43 That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

23:44 And Moses declared unto the children of Israel the feasts of the LORD.

Leviticus 24

The command to make the seven branched lampstand of the Menorah which should burn pure olive oil to light the court of the tabernacles/temple.

The pure olive oil represents the Holy Spirit, the presence and use of which makes the faithful; the light of the world.  Today, by vexing God’s Spirit in turning away from zeal to learn and live by every Word of God, the Ekklesia are no longer the  example of godliness and light of the world we should be.

Instead we lean to our own ways, quenching the light of God’s Spirit b y rejecting any zeal to learn and grow and to keep the whole Word of God. Our light of zeal for God is flickering and going out, and we know it not; because we are intent on zeal for our leaders and organizations in stead of on zeal for our God.

Leviticus 24:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 24:2 Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.

24:3 Without the vail [outside the most holy place; and in the court of the tabernacle/temple] of the testimony, in the tabernacle of the congregation, shall Aaron order it from the evening unto the morning before the LORD continually: it shall be a statute for ever in your generations.

This is a symbolic promise that the light of God will never go out in his true people

Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Leviticus 24:4 He shall order the lamps upon the pure candlestick [oil burning lampstands] before the LORD continually.

The Bread of Presence pictures the presence of Jesus Christ as the Bread of Life for the Called Out; the 12 tribes of physical and spiritual Israel.

24:5 And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth deals shall be in one cake. 24:6 And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before the LORD.

Frankincense is to be placed on each piece, picturing the pleasantness of the Word of God

24:7 And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial [of creation and of the Covenant], even an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

The Bread of Presence symbolizing the presence of the Husband and Creator of Israel was to be placed on the holy table on each Sabbath; as Christ the Creator spent the first Sabbath with Adam, so he desires to be studied and internalized by his people on every Sabbath day.

24:8 Every sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant.

The Bread of Presence is to be eaten only by the priests as a thing most holy to God.

24:9 And it shall be Aaron’s and his sons’; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire [baked in the fire] by a perpetual statute.

The law concerning all those who blaspheme God.

Compromising with any part of the Word of God and leading the brethren away from any zeal for the practical application of the Word of God is an act of blasphemy.

24:10 And the son of an Israelitish woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel: and this son of the Israelitish woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp; 24:11 And the Israelitish woman’s son blasphemed the name of the Lord, and cursed. And they brought him unto Moses: (and his mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan:) 24:12 And they put him in ward, that the mind of the LORD might be shewed them.

24:13 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 24:14 Bring forth him that hath cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.

Because many have followed their leaders away from any zeal for the Word of God, equating zeal for a man or corporate churches as the same as zeal for God, and are guilty of Idolatry; those who do so shall not be held guiltless before their God; they shall most certainly be corrected by our Mighty One.

24:15 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Whosoever curseth his God shall bear his sin. 24:16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the Lord, shall be put to death.

The murderer of innocent blood shall surely be put to death. This applies to the physical murderer and also to the spiritual murderer who seeks to steal the Father’s flock, and to turn them from their zeal for the Word of God, to follow after himself.  Such men, in leading people to equate loyalty to themselves as loyalty to God are spiritual murderers; leading people away form the way of life into the broad way to destruction.

24:17 And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.

To willfully steal an animal or to kill an animal not belonging to us, for ourselves is theft, and even if the killing was accidental the killer shall restore the value to the owner.

24:18 And he that killeth a beast shall make it good; beast for beast.

The phrase below refers to equity in correction. Some would call this very harsh, yet in today’s libertarian world there is vastly more crime than in ancient times.

24:19 And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbour; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him; 24:20 Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.

This has its spiritual application. God is just and demands fairness, equity and justice, he is not a respecter of persons and neither should we be.

24:21 And he that killeth a beast, he shall restore it: and he that killeth a man, he shall be put to death.

There is to be ONE law for every person in our assemblies; THE LAW OF GOD. Anyone who teaches us to diminish our zeal for the Word of God, is in rebellion against God and is to be rejected from our assemblies.

When this comes to a point, as it has in our time; where the vast majority laugh at and condemn zeal to live by every Word of God, and follow idols of men rather than zealously testing every word of man by the Word of God [rejecting men’s words which are not good by the Word of God] then we are to leave off assembling with such people in order to remain faithfully steadfast in passionate zeal for learning and living by every Word of God.

24:22 Ye shall have one manner of law, as well for the stranger, as for one of your own country: for I am the LORD your God.

24:23 And Moses spake to the children of Israel, that they should bring forth him that had cursed out of the camp, and stone him with stones. And the children of Israel did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Leviticus 25

The Land Sabbath

Leviticus 25:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying, 25:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD.

The land itself shall have a complete rest from cultivation and from commercial reaping

25:3 Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; 25:4 But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard. 25:5 That which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land.

This rest of the land is also a complete one year Sabbath of rest for those who till or use the land; therefore this seventh year land Sabbath is a sabbatical year for BOTH the land and the people.

25:6 And the sabbath of the land shall be meat [one may eat but not harvest to take away or sell] for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee.

That which grows of itself may be eaten by people and animals but is not to be harvested for commercial sale.

It has been discovered that most insect pests increase in cycles and that a land rest in the seventh year, has the effect of denying food and destroying many agricultural pests breaking their cycles of increase. There is no need for pesticides polluting our good earth if we obeyed our God.

Like the seventh day Sabbath, the seventh year is to be dedicated to spiritual pursuits.

25:7 And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat.

The Jubilee Year

25:8 And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.

The forty ninth year is a land Sabbath and the fiftieth year is the Jubilee. The Jubilee shall begin on the Day of Atonement ending the 49th year, and end on Atonement of [ending] the fiftieth year called the Jubilee Year.

The Jubilee year uses an Atonement to Atonement year as opposed to the Spring to Spring year of the early harvest called out.  This fall to fall year tells us that this Jubilee of years is the main fall harvest  counterpart of the Jubilee of days of the spring called Pentecost.

25:9 Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.

The fiftieth year is Holy to God, and is to be kept as Holy by us. This Jubilee Year is the latter main harvest counterpart of Pentecost, the early harvest of the called out.

As Pentecost represented the restoration of Godliness and the establishment of the New Covenant for the called out; the fast of Atonement pictures the repentance of the main harvest of humanity and the Jubilee represents the restoration of all the ways of God on the earth.

Please see: Atonement; The Jubilee of Years: Pentecost; The Jubilee of Days

Atonement and the Jubilee of years picture the MAIN HARVEST; they represent LIBERTY from the bondage of sin, and freedom for every person from all forms of bondage as they repent and are made free through sincere repentance and the application of the sacrifice of the Lamb of God!

25:10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.

Like the Sabbath, the Jubilee Year shall be a time of full freedom from all types of physical bondage as a type of freedom from all bondage to sin and the god-king of this world.

25:11 A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed. 25:12 For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof [from the Land Sabbath beginning on Atonement ending the 48th year, to Atonement ending the 50th year] out of the field. 25:13 In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession.

During the intervening years you shall diminish the price of what you sell, in anticipation of the forgiveness of all debts and the restoration of every person to his original state.  We are not to increase prices close to the Land Sabbath and Jubilee years in anticipation of scarcity.

25:14 And if thou sell ought unto thy neighbour, or buyest ought of thy neighbour’s hand, ye shall not oppress one another: 25:15 According to the number of years after the jubile thou shalt buy of thy neighbour, and according unto the number of years of the fruits he shall sell unto thee: 25:16 According to the multitude of years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of years thou shalt diminish the price of it: for according to the number of the years of the fruits doth he sell unto thee.

25:17 Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God. 25:18 Wherefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety.

It is for the oppressing of the brethren, and for the lack of zeal to apply the Word of God in our lives and to follow Jesus Christ, that we will soon be cast into the coming great correction.

Blessings on the land in the Mosaic Covenant were in direct proportion to the degree of zeal in obedience to God. In the same way, the blessings of spiritual growth and entry into the Promised Land of eternal life in the New Covenant, are directly proportionate to our zealous learning and living by every Word of God.

25:19 And the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.

God will provide if we will only believe and obey him

25:20 And if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase:

God will give increase on the harvest of the sixth year to last over until the harvest of the eighth year.

25:21 Then I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years. 25:22 And ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat yet of old fruit [of the sixth year] until [up to] the ninth year; until her fruits come [in the harvest at the end of the eighth year] in ye shall eat of the old store.

The possessions of land in the Promised Land belonged to each family forever. They could only sell in the sense of renting out the land until the Jubilee Year. This pictured an eternal possession of the faithful overcomers in the eternal spiritual kingdom of God.

25:23 The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine, for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.

Any farmland “sold” could be bought back by the seller or his kin at any time they chose, or it would revert back to the original possessor automatically on the Jubilee.

25:24 And in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land. 25:25 If thy brother be waxen poor, and hath sold away some of his possession, and if any of his kin come to redeem it, then shall he redeem that which his brother sold.

To buy back or redeem his farmland a fair price based on the number of years remaining until the Jubilee is to be set.

25:26 And if the man have none [a man may buy back his land based on a fair price and the number of years remaining until the Jubilee of years] to redeem it, and himself be able to redeem it; 25:27 Then let him count the years of the sale thereof, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto his possession.

25:28 But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubile: and in the jubile it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.

Houses in fortified [major cities, as opposed to agricultural villages] may be redeemed within one year of sale; and if not redeemed within one year will become the property of the buyer forever, or until he sells it.

25:29 And if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he redeem it. 25:30 And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubile.

Only agricultural land and property in agricultural villages as well as any Levitical houses, will return to the original owners at the Jubilee.

25:31 But the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubile.

25:32 Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time. 25:33 And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.

The Levites may not sell their fields

25:34 But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession.

We are to always help out the poor among us; not the lazy but those in genuine need

25:35 And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee.

We are forbidden to change interest or charge a fee for helping out a person in need of physical necessities. This is for those in genuine physical need and is not in reference to business loans intended to create a personal profit. In that case the provider of the capital has a right to benefit from the business gain created by his loan.

25:36 Take thou no usury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee. 25:37 Thou shalt not give him thy money upon usury, nor lend him thy victuals for increase.

25:38 I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.

If a person becomes your servant due to inability to pay his debts; he is to be treated with respect and given an allowance for his daily needs. Regardless of what he owes he shall become free when the trumpet of the Jubilee sounds on the fast of Atonement; representing that all humanity will become free from bondage to sin through repentance and the application of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, at the Jubilee of the main harvest of humanity.

25:39 And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant: 25:40 But as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubile. 25:41 And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.

All Mosaic Israel were to be the true servants of God, who were redeemed and called out of Egypt by their Deliverer;:Typifying that all the faithful spiritually called out, were called out of bondage to sin in the spiritual Egypt of this world, and have been redeemed and our freedom has been bought by the price of the life of our Creator Jesus Christ.

The called out of spiritual Egypt are not to be ruled over with rigor as bondmen and slaves as is often done by leaders in the Ekklesia today.

The elders are to set a godly example and to lead and teach godliness, never taking advantage of, nor bullying, nor seeking personal advantage, and never making merchandise of the free men of Almighty God.

Elders and leaders are to focus all brethren on gaining as much zeal as they can to live by every Word of God and never to lead anyone to blindly and unquestioningly follow any man or organization as equivalent to following God!

The flock of God is not your flock!  It has been bought at a great price; leaders and elders are merely caretakers who must give an account for their treatment of the flock of God.

25:42 For they are my servants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen. 25:43 Thou shalt not rule over him with rigour; but shalt fear thy God.

Under the Mosaic Covenant those in the Covenant may not buy and sell their own Covenant people like merchandise [although they can be made bond servants for debts they cannot be sold to another party]; but may do so of the outsiders [unconverted]. This reflects that the Covenant people already belong to their Deliverer while the others are still in bondage to the sin of this world.

Elders and leaders in the Called Out are never to rule with rigor as the worldly leaders do. they must understand that we are ALL called out to become kings and priests of Jesus Christ, and that we ALL belong to him, having been bought with a great price.

25:44 Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. 25:45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. 25:46 And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.

25:47 And if a sojourner or stranger wax rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelleth by him wax poor, and sell himself unto the stranger or sojourner by thee, or to the stock of the stranger’s family: 25:48 After that he is sold he may be redeemed again; one of his brethren may redeem him: 25:49

Either his uncle, or his uncle’s son, may redeem him, or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; or if he be able, he may redeem himself.

Redemption shall be based on the length of service remaining until the Jubilee.

25:50 And he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was sold to him unto the year of jubile: and the price of his sale shall be according unto the number of years, according to the time of an hired servant shall it be with him.

25:51 If there be yet many years behind, according unto them he shall give again the price of his redemption out of the money that he was bought for. 25:52 And if there remain but few years unto the year of jubile, then he shall count with him, and according unto his years shall he give him again the price of his redemption.

25:53 And as a yearly hired servant shall he be with him: and the other [his master the stranger] shall not rule with rigour over him in thy sight. 25:54 And if he be not redeemed in these years, then he shall go out in the year of jubile, both he, and his children with him.

The children of physical Israel were called out of bondage in Egypt as an allegory of spiritual Israel being redeemed by Jesus Christ and called out of bondage to sin.

Brethren, we are called out to serve Jesus Christ and his Father, and to learn and keep the whole word of God: NOT to blindly follow the words of men and corporate policies without questioning them.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good [by the holy scriptures].22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Leviticus 25:55 For unto me the children of [both physical and spiritual] Israel are servants; they are my servants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

The Meaning of the Festival Offerings

The law commands that the people tithe a tenth of their increase to the Levites who must then tithe a tenth of that to the priests.

The tithe to the Levites is to support them in their work doing the menial things of the tabernacle – later the temple; and Moses set the Levites as teachers of the people in the synagogue system.  In Psalm 74:8 David prophecies that an enemy will destroy the synagogues from the land, which implies that synagogues existed in the time of David. The synagogue system was created as schools where the Levites could teach the Word of God to all people.  After the Babylonian captivity Ezra restored the synagogue system to Judah.

In addition such functions as Levitical choirs were also added by David.

The tithe of the Levites to the priests is to pay for the sacrifices commanded to be offered on behalf of the whole nation including the Daily, the Sabbath and New Moon, and the Festival sacrifices.  In addition the priests were to receive wages for offering sacrifices on behalf of individuals in the form of a portion of the sacrifice.

David set up courses of priests to serve one by one at the tabernacle, later the temple; and because the vast majority of personal individual sacrifices were made at the Festivals and because of the Festival work load, all priests were to serve at all of the Festivals.

The tithe from the people was to be a tenth of their increase which means that all expenses incurred to earn that income are to be deducted before tithing.

For example travel expenses to and from work, work clothes and cleaning – dry cleaning,  education and training, and any other expenses needed to earn the income; like customer entertainment expenses to make a sale, work tools, and raw materials for resale as more finished products.

Further since God gave each family a plot of land, which many do not have today it is permissible to deduct a reasonable amount for housing costs.

That covers the Levitical tithe

God also commanded that all who were able, were to journey to the place where God had placed his name, i.e. the tabernacle or temple; three times a year

Deuteronomy 16:16 Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty:

To pay for these three annual journeys to the Holy Place another tithe on our increase is commanded

Deuteronomy 14:22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.

14:23 And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn [grain], of thy wine, and of thine oil [a festival tithe of all of our in crease], and [we are also to bring the first fruits of the particular harvest to the  spring summer and fall Festivals] the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always [The purpose of appearing as a nation before God was to learn of Him; Festival sermons are to be about God, His Word and His Greatness; to bring the people and keep them close to God, and to exhort them to live by every Word of God.

14:24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: 14:25 Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose: 14:26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth [lawfully desires] after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,

It is self evident that some people were left at home; the unclean, the very young or very aged, the seriously ill and their care givers and those needed  to care for the flocks and herds, but the intent was and is, that as many as possible attend the three annual pilgrim Festivals.  The three annual Festivals were for the people to appear before the LORD to learn of Him; to worship God and to exalt Him and to rejoice with their God.

The Festival tithe was to be spent in attending these Festivals and feasting before the LORD as an allegory of a spiritual feast on the Word of God; and in great rejoicing over the physical harvests; as an allegory of feasting on the Word of God and the wondrous spiritual harvests of humanity that these physical harvests represent in the plan of God.

We are to rejoice; NOT because, as some wrongly think, that they will get theirs and dominate others in the Kingdom, but because we shall be laborers bringing in the sheaves of humanity into the family of God!  Saving humanity!

When someone is well off, they are NOT to spend their Festival tithe on tourist activities and non God centered activities, instead they are to share with their less well off brethren.

14:27 And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.

In addition to our Festival tithes and the sacrifices of the priests on behalf of the whole nation, the people were commanded to bring an offering at each of the three pilgrim festival, that is three times a year.

Deuteronomy  16:17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee.

These offerings were not gifts of money to be given to the Levites or to the priests, but were Freewill and Thank Offerings of rejoicing to be eaten by the offerer’s and shared with our families and with the Levites [the term Levites includes the priests].  Therefore they are not commanded to be offered on the Fast of Atonement or the Feast of Trumpets, but on the three commanded occasions.

They may also be offered on occasions of great rejoicing such as the dedication of the temple, but are only COMMANDED for the three Festivals each year.  (See also 2 Chr 31:14 Hezekiah’s reformation, the return from exile: Ezr 1:4-6; Ezr 2:68; Ezr 7:16; Ezr 8:28; Ne 7:70-72 and the Eze 46:11-12 millennial temple).

The meaning of these Freewill and Thank Offerings is far deeper then merely casting some money into a basket.

These Festival offerings had to be killed in the Temple before God [although they were NOT sacrifices]; they had to be eaten inside the temple; and they had to be shared with family, friends and the Levites!

The Freewill and Thank Offerings were a physical allegory of a festive spiritual family meal with God the Father at the head of the table, and his family gathered about him; in harmony and at peace and eating in the presence of God as an example of internalizing [eating]  the Word of God!   There is so much more meaning to the Festival offerings than mere mammon!

These Festival Freewill and Thank Offerings are not sacrifices to God; they are  voluntary offerings brought on occasions of celebration or spiritual significance to be eaten WITH God and with the people of God in rejoicing. The animal offered was to be killed in the temple and was then eaten as a festive banquet.

That is how things are to be done when we have a physical temple, yet today there is no physical temple. Nevertheless the Festivals should be observed today in this New Covenant spiritual dispensation with great rejoicing and an emphasis on spiritual feasting on the Word of God.

We need to STOP having sermons on how wonderful we are and how wonderful it will be to be the top folks; and we need to start having sermons on the greatness of God and exhorting the brethren to the righteousness of living by every Word of God, we NEED sermons on the Word of God, explaining the spiritual meaning of the commandments and laws of God and glorifying the most awesome Being in the universe!

In Conclusion

We have no physical temple today and cannot sacrifice or kill and eat our Freewill and Thank offerings before the LORD, yet we can and should feast together on the Word of God.

Yes, do give an offering of money, but remember that the money offering is only a token of the Thank and Freewill Offerings to be made before the LORD in the temple; and understand that the meaning of the Freewill and Thank Offerings is rejoicing together with God and eating [internalizing] the nature of God, to live by every Word of God in harmonious fellowship with God and all other faithful godly persons!

After Jesus Christ comes he will build the third Temple and the physical sacrifices and offerings will be renewed.  The descendants of loyal Zadok will be called into the New Covenant of Jer 31:31; and as New Covenant physical priests will officiate in the physical duties of this third Temple.  At that time Jesus Christ will clarify every detail of the Temple service and every detail of the spiritual meaning of that Temple service and God’s sacrificial system.

In the millennium it will not be possible for every person of the billions on earth to go to Jerusalem three times a year [look at the problems Mecca has with a few million at the Hajj once each year and add to that the sacrifices and offerings], but our LORD will resolve that problem; perhaps by having the nations send different representatives each year to each Festival, while most people in the nations keep the Festivals in their own countries as the Ekklesia does today.

The Ezekiel study will be updated in early 2017, however the existing material on Eze 40-44 and the Millennial Temple is still very good, full of diagrams and animation links.  Please do visit this link Ezekiel 40-44: The Millennial Temple  and do click through to the animation links at the post to get an idea of this awesome Temple!

Leviticus 26

Physical idols of stone are types of the idols that we have made of men and organizations. Anything that we obey instead of God’s Word is our idol. Anyone that we exalt as equal to or above God is our idol. It is a gross sin to exalt the messenger above the God who sent the message.

Leviticus 26:1 Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.

Today one of our greatest sins is to declare the Sabbath holy and then by our actions pollute it and fail to keep it holy. We buy on Sabbath paying others to serve us on the Sabbath and High Days, holding the Word of God [the table of the Lord] in contempt.

26:2 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

If we were spiritually zealous to diligently learn and zealously keep the whole Word of God, we would be blessed with spiritual growth and understanding.

26:3 If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; 26:4 Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. 26:5 And your threshing shall reach unto the vintage, and the vintage shall reach unto the sowing time: and ye shall eat your bread to the full, and dwell in your land safely.

As Mosaic Israel would be blessed for learning and keeping the whole Word of God; so spiritual Israel would be showered with spiritual blessings of increase in understanding and wisdom, and by being made fit for the resurrection of the first fruits to spirit; if we would only live by every Word of God.. The spiritually faithful need never fear for the promise of Christ of the resurrection to spirit of the zealously faithful is SURE.

26:6 And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.

In the resurrection to spirit the faithful shall be made rulers and teachers on the earth and all enemies shall flee before them to sincere repentance or total destruction.

26:7 And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. 26:8 And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

The Mosaic Covenant is a allegory of the New Covenant.

The Mosaic Covenant would be established and maintained by the zeal of the people to obey their Husband; and the New Covenant is established with Christ and the spiritually called out, by the faithful zeal of the called out to learn and passionately love their Husband to keep the whole Word of God.

26:9 For I will have respect unto you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish my covenant with you.

As Mosaic Israel would have to throw out the old grain to make room for the new harvest for very abundance of their physical harvest; so faithful spiritual Israel shall be resurrected to spirit to be laborers to bring in the vast abundance of the main harvest of humanity. What an honor to be called out as the laborers of God to bring multitudes into his family!

26:10 And ye shall eat old store, and bring forth the old because of the new.

As Christ would dwell in the physical nation of Mosaic Israel if they remained faithful to keep his commandments; so Christ will dwell in the faithful steadfast of the New Covenant.

Christ abhors the wicked deeds of evil doers, If we wash away our wickedness through sincere repentance and a dedicated zeal to internalize the whole Word and nature of God, and to sin no more; the abhorrent sins that separate us from God our Father would be covered by the application of the sacrifice of Christ. We may be reconciled to God the Father, but if we continue in sin and fail to be zealous to live by every Word of God; then our abhorrent sins remain in us.

26:11 And I set my tabernacle among you: and my soul shall not abhor you. 26:12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.

Jesus Christ is the Mighty One who has delivered us from bondage to sin; why would we choose to remain and continue in that bondage? Let us put off the old man of sin and become a new person in Jesus Christ.

26:13 I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.

If we  turn away from zeal to learn and zealously keep the whole Word of God, we shall face the same curses [including on a spiritual level] of the rebellious of Mosaic Israel.

26:14 But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments; 26:15 And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:

When the Ekklesia  preach the “Gospel” today, it is not the true gospel but their own ways, they are sowing that seed in vain and there will be no godly increase; for those who respond are responding to the false ways and not to the truth of the whole Word of God. By compromising with the Word of God and by doing what we want instead of doing as God commands we have turned aside from any zeal for the Word of God to follow our own imaginations.

26:16 I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

We shall surely be cast into the strong correction of great tribulation, for the exalting of our idols of men and organization above any zeal to live by every Word of God.

26:17 And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you. 26:18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

We speak of the breaking of the pride of national power, not considering that the pride of the power of the church of God is being broken for our idolatry and many sins. We are blind to the meaning of the splitting and splitting and the many trials of Ekklesia today; and are blind to what is coming upon us for our rejection of the warnings and our refusal to turn to our Great God in sincere repentance. Our efforts will bring no godly fruits of repentance for we are not godly ourselves!

26:19 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: 26:20 And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.

We are at the point where we have received a solid and comprehensive warning and still refuse to sincerely repent, being full of pride in our own ways. Therefore we are about to be spued out by Jesus Christ (Rev 3:16), into the severe “Seven Times stronger” correction in the great tribulation.

26:21 And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.

The wild beasts are literal and represent smaller pests like rats and mice as well as larger wild creatures, which may ultimately include packs of wild starving dogs roaming the streets. And in spiritual terms the “wild beasts” are types of the unconverted attacking as they are moved by the fury of Satan.

26:22 I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate.

If we do not sincerely repent, Jesus Christ will be against us, as we have turned away from him, and he shall cast us into great tribulation for our merciful correction, that he might save us spiritually by afflicting our flesh.

26:23 And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me; 26:24 Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.

The sword of the enemy will fall on both physical and spiritual Israel because of our departure from our covenant with Jesus Christ, to learn and live by every Word of God.

26:25 And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

With the enemy will come famine and lack of food, as the enemy will take what grows in drought.

26:26 And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight [Bread shall be rationed out by ounces]: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied. 26:27 And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; 26:28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.

Some will turn to eating human flesh and that of their own beloved families out of the madness of intense hunger

26:29 And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat.

Jesus Christ is determined to destroy all our idols; that includes our wealth, idols of men and corporate churches, and all those things that we pursue instead of zeal for our God. That includes all things that come between God and his people and all things that we have exalted above the Word of our God.

Jesus Christ shall assuredly destroy all of the corporate organizations of the Ekklesia; and shall correct all of his wayward people until they have all learned; that The Eternal is God and beside HIM there is NO OTHER, and it is the Eternal who is to be exalted and obeyed. We MUST learn to question the words of all men by the whole Word of God and to hold fast the good and to reject anything contrary to the Word of God.

26:30 And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you. 26:31 And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours. 26:32 And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.

Many will also flee chased by war, and others will be made captives and forced to work in dangerous jobs under extremely harsh conditions.

26:33 And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.

Speaking of the Land Sabbath

26:34 Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies’ land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths. 26:35 As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.

Our people of both physical and spiritual Israel shall be full of apprehension, mental insecurity and fear, and people shall fall all over one another to escape often when none pursues.

26:36 And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth. 26:37 And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before [in a panic as when being chased by] a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies.

Many shall die in the land, and also in the land of their enemies. This will be covered in the Ezekiel study.

26:38 And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.

When spiritual and physical Israel’s great pride has been crushed to contrition, then the warnings shall be remembered, and many will sincerely repent; then God shall remember us and deliver us. Messiah will come to resurrect the chosen of spiritual Israel and they will deliver physical Israel.  Then the millennial kingdom of God will spread across the entire earth.

26:39 And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.

26:40 If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me; 26:41 And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: 26:42 Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

Then the Ekklesia will be humbled and will remember the Husband of their espousal and will turn to him with a whole heart. Physical Israel and the nations, will also be humbled and will be made ready to accept the coming of Messiah the Christ and his kingdom over all the earth.

The apostate church of God groups, the church of pride and idolatry, shall be humbled to contrition and shall be saved! They shall remember how that they despised any zeal to live by every  Word of God to keep their own ways and shall sincerely repent!

26:43 The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes.

Our merciful Christ will spare some of the people, and come to save humanity; so that physical and spiritual Israel and the other nations of men shall not be destroyed from off the earth.

26:44 And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.

How wonderful and faithful is our Husband, our God, our Deliverer; who will not reject us totally in our sin, but who will correct us that he might save us and grant his eternal promises to us!

26:45 But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the LORD.

26:46 These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which the LORD made between him and the children of Israel in mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.

Leviticus 27

A vow is a promise to God, often as a commitment to give something to God in exchange for him doing something to us, as in:

Genesis 28:20 And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, 21 So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God: 22And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’ house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee.

It would be good to do a word study on the word VOW. We are to pay our vows without exception; therefore it is better to avoid making vows [this includes financial commitments to donate sums] because we do not know what tomorrow brings.

A freewill offering is something that we give without having any obligation to give.

A sacrifice is something required as an obligation to atone for sin.

Here God tells us to value vows to a certain sum, to help avoid rash vows. Remember that vows are commitments as opposed to free will offerings. If you have made a commitment [vow] to God, you are obligated to perform it.

Let me say here that if you were deceived into the [vow] commitment; for example by committing money to a man you thought was godly when he was not; you need not fulfill a commitment to the ungodly man. Your commitment was a vow to God and you should not give what is God’s to the ungodly, but should find a godly person to give your gift to.

God is making a legal formality out of vows to teach us a basic spiritual principle; that we must always keep our word; and that we have all made a baptismal vow of espousal in marriage to Christ; to learn of him and to live by every Word of God.

The vow that every converted person has made today is their baptismal commitment to God to “Go and sin no more!”   The second major vow we make is our marriage vows to our physical spouses made before God.  Other than these it would be very wise to avoid making vows altogether.

Here God gives instructions on vows to God, including tithes, gifts and offerings to the Levites.

Leviticus 27:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 27:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons shall be for the LORD by thy estimation.

27:3 And thy estimation shall be of the male from twenty years old even unto sixty years old, even thy estimation shall be fifty shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary. 27:4 And if it be a female, then thy estimation shall be thirty shekels.

Children

27:5 And if it be from five years old even unto twenty years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male twenty shekels, and for the female ten shekels. 27:6 And if it be from a month old even unto five years old, then thy estimation shall be of the male five shekels of silver, and for the female thy estimation shall be three shekels of silver.

The Elderly

27:7 And if it be from sixty years old and above; if it be a male, then thy estimation shall be fifteen shekels, and for the female ten shekels.

The Poor

27:8 But if he be poorer than thy estimation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to his ability that vowed shall the priest value him.

In addition all sacrificial animals may be given for a vow

27:9 And if it be a beast, whereof men bring an offering unto the LORD, all that any man giveth of such unto the LORD shall be holy. 27:10 He shall not alter it, nor change it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good: and if he shall at all change beast for beast, then it and the exchange thereof shall be holy.

Unclean animals donated.

27:11 And if it be any unclean beast, of which they do not offer a sacrifice unto the LORD, then he shall present the beast before the priest: 27:12 And the priest shall value it, whether it be good or bad: as thou valuest it, who art the priest, so shall it be.

The unclean animal may be redeemed by adding a fifth of its value to its true value as an offering.

27:13 But if he will at all redeem it, then he shall add a fifth part thereof unto thy estimation.

The gift of a house

27:14 And when a man shall sanctify his house to be holy unto the LORD, then the priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: as the priest shall estimate it, so shall it stand. 27:15 And if he that sanctified it will redeem his house, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be his.

The gift of agricultural land, shall have its value reckoned by the years to a Jubilee with an homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.

27:16 And if a man shall sanctify unto the LORD some part of a field of his possession, then thy estimation shall be according to the seed thereof: an homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver. 27:17 If he sanctify his field from the year of jubile, according to thy estimation it shall stand. 27:18 But if he sanctify his field after the jubile, then the priest shall reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain, even unto the year of the jubile, and it shall be abated from thy estimation.

Agricultural land may be redeemed by paying the value plus a fifth part [20%].

27:19 And if he that sanctified the field will in any wise redeem it, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy estimation unto it, and it shall be assured to him.

The giver may refuse to receive his own field back at the jubilee, and in that case it shall become permanently for the Levites.

27:20 And if he will not redeem the field, or if he have sold the field to another man, it shall not be redeemed any more. 27:21 But the field, when it goeth out in the jubile, shall be holy unto the LORD, as a field devoted; the possession thereof shall be the priest’s.

If the produce of a field which is not the owners inheritance, but which has been bought from another’s inheritance until the Jubilee; he shall give the produce of that field to the priest, but the field itself shall return back to its original owner.

27:22 And if a man sanctify unto the LORD a field which he hath bought, which is not of the fields of his possession; 27:23 Then the priest shall reckon unto him the worth of thy estimation, even unto the year of the jubile: and he shall give thine estimation in that day, as a holy thing unto the LORD.

27:24 In the year of the jubile the field shall return unto him of whom it was bought, even to him to whom the possession of the land did belong.

The firstlings shall not be consecrated to God by any vow, for they already belong to God. because the Passover Lamb [spiritually Jesus Christ] has atoned for the firstborn, saving them from death in Egypt. the Father in heaven gave his first born son and therefore all first born belong to him.

27:25 And all thy estimations shall be according to the shekel of the sanctuary: twenty gerahs shall be the shekel.

27:26 Only the firstling of the beasts, which should be the LORD’s firstling, no man shall sanctify it; whether it be ox, or sheep: it is the LORD’s.

The first born of the unclean animal shall have its value estimated, and may then either belong to the priests and the Levites, or may be redeemed by the owner; by paying the value plus 20%.

27:27 And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall redeem it according to thine estimation, and shall add a fifth part of it thereto: or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thy estimation.

Everything devoted by vow to God may not be redeemed or withheld; all vows must be paid in full.

27:28 Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD. 27:29 None devoted, which shall be devoted of men, shall be redeemed; but shall surely be put to death.

Tithing on agricultural produce

A tithe of all our agricultural increase is required by God, and if we desire to keep a certain animal etc; then we are to pay its value plus 20%. This law changes the actual tithe from the animal into money for donation.

27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s: it is holy unto the LORD. 27:31 And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof.

All firstborn animals were separated out as belonging to God. Then the other newborn animals were separated from their parents and made to pass in single file before a man who counted them by touching each animal with his rod and shouting out to the recorder; 1, 2 ,3 etc. the tenth animal was then separated out whether good or bad [lame etc] as belonging to God.

If it was desired to keep the animal as being good [for breeding etc] , then it could be valued be the priest and the sum paid with the addition of 20%.

27:32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD. 27:33 He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.

27:34 These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses for the children of Israel in mount Sinai.

The Passover Clean and Unclean

Clean and Unclean:  It’s Only Physical

The Church of God Seventh day took the law of clean and unclean very seriously but Herbert Armstrong had no problem eating unclean meats.  He finally agreed to teach against eating unclean things to obtain ordination by them, however he always maintained the attitude that clean and unclean was “only physical” and primarily a health issue. Which is a very erroneous position.  In reality as soon as God commands something it becomes the SPIRITUAL ISSUE of obeying God, of living by every Word of God (Mat 4:4).

God could have created or made all flesh clean!  God could have simply not have made His law of clean and unclean!  God made the law of clean and unclean for a purpose!  It is not just physical but profoundly SPIRITUAL!

If it is true that the law of clean and unclean is only physical why not say that the weekly and annual Sabbaths are only physical?  Why do we not also say that adultery is no physical, or that stealing is only physical?   We are physical and the whole law and commandments are physical, but these physical laws exist to teach us great spiritual principles, and are therefore also spiritual.

Jesus Christ the Creator came to reveal and teach the spiritual meaning of the physical laws of God.

In fact there is no such thing as “ONLY physical,” because all things commanded by God are tests to see if we will obey and live by every Word of God or not.  Every physical law has its spiritual purpose and meaning and is spiritual as well as physical

Romans 7:14   For we know that the law is spiritual:

Instead of calling the law of clean and unclean meats merely physical and a nonspiritual health issue, and avoiding all other aspects of the law of clean and unclean; it is incumbent on us to study the matter and learn the spiritual meaning of this spiritual law.

This law of purity and clean and unclean has many purposes if we would only open our eyes to see.

1. To teach us to obey and live by every Word of God whether we understand the full meaning or not,

2.  To test us to see if we will live by every Word of God or not,

3.  To teach us to discern between right and wrong, the holy and the profane,

4  To teach us that the unclean and profane person [the unrepentant sinner] is excluded from access to God and the holy, and excluded from the resurrection to spirit and eternal life.

The law of the clean and unclean is that no unclean person can enter the holy tabernacle or temple or come into the presence of God.  This physical law is an allegory of the spiritual law that no unrepentant sinner can be accepted by God or inherit eternal life and will be cast into the fire of perdition.

The lesson of this law for the New Covenant is that to enter into a relationship with God, we must sincerely repent of our sins and commit to go and sin no more, only then will we be justified, cleansed and made spiritually clean by the sacrifice of the Lamb of God being applied to us; and only then will God dwell in us through His Spirit.

Clean and Unclean Meats the law of clean and unclean meats uses physical eating to teach us to put a difference between the holy and the profane in what we consume and internalize spiritually.

When we physically eat we take into our bodies what we eat; which is an allegory of what we internalize or take into ourselves on the spiritual plane.  Spiritually do we internalize the very nature of God by taking into ourselves what is pure, holy and Godly, or do we fill our minds with the filth of false doctrines, rebellion against any zeal to live by every Word of God and the wickedness that fills our world.  We become what we take into and assimilate into our minds:  Do we internalize holiness or wickedness; the purity of God or the profane and spiritually unclean.

The law commands that we are not so much as to touch the unclean thing.  Spiritually this means that we are to loathe and avoid the spiritual uncleanness of sin so that we are not even tainted by having been close to sin.

1 Thessalonians 5:22  Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Yes do not consume or touch any physical or spiritually unclean thing that we may learn to put a difference between the holy and the profane, both physically and spiritually.

Other Uncleanness

Spreading infections make people or things unclean because they are analogous of the spreading of sin in the same way that leaven is analogous of sin for its spreading ability.  While disfiguring skin conditions are analogous of the appearance of evil as per 1 Thessalonians 5:22.  This is not about the actual person but about the appearance.

1 Corinthians 5:6 Your glorying [in your tolerance for sin] is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

Defects

Defects in clean animals make them unfit as representatives of the perfect Lamb of God but they are still clean and fit for human consumption.  Defects in people do not make them unclean.

Passover

The first Passover in Egypt was unique in that the destroyer would pass through Egypt at midnight on the 14th day of the first month and would pass over every house with the blood of a lamb or kid on its doorposts.  Every household had killed a lamb or kid and the family had placed some blood on their door posts and roasted and ate the lamb or kid.

It was later at Sinai that it was commanded that subsequently after the Egyptian Passover, the Passover lambs and kids  must be sacrificed before the LORD at the place that He shall choose [either the tabernacle or later the temple].

After Egypt the Passover animals could ONLY be sacrificed before the LORD in the Holy Place, and since there is no temple today the Passover lambs and kids may not be sacrificed.

It was at Mount Sinai that the laws of sacrifice and clean and unclean were renewed, those laws had been in effect since creation; although it is conceivable that they were more general previously and that God added more detail for Israel at Sinai. We know that Able and Noah and Abraham and others offered sacrifices, and that God made specific commands regarding the clean and unclean animals for Noah and the Ark.

These commandments at Sinai superseded the instructions given for the Passover in Egypt:

1.  The Passover must now be sacrificed ONLY at the Holy Place before the LORD,

2.  A person could go out of his house in the night without fear of the destroyer,

3.  No unclean person could eat of the Passover because it was Holy having been sacrificed before the LORD.

Later David wrote Psalms for the Passover and the Festivals which Ezra re appointed to be sung at the Passover and Festivals after the Babylonian captivity.  Ezra also instituted the four cups of wine Passover service used by Jesus and his disciples and the Jews of the Temple Period.  SEE:  Harmonizing the Gospels Concerning The Last Passover of Christ

No unclean person may partake of the Passover, this is a Mosaic allegory that in the New Covenant no  person unclean by reason of unrepented sin may take the Passover.  The justifying of our lack of zeal to live by every Word of God and our tolerating of sin are primary reasons for the spiritual weakness of the Ekklesia today.

After Sinai uncleanness can be placed in three different levels in terms of duration:

1. That which lasts only until sunset if one washes

When a person touches an unclean person or thing; they are to wash and will be clean at sunset.  To maintain the allegory and learn the lesson that no unclean person, that is no unrepentant person unclean by sin, may take the Passover, I have always washed [showered] as very many of us do, to be as clean as possible in preparation for Passover evening.  Of course this is an allegorical lesson and physically washing is certainly NOT enough; we are to examine ourselves and to sincerely repent and STOP sinning;  NEVER trying to justify ourselves or our sins.

To take the spiritual New Covenant Passover we must be clean from sin by sincere repentance, a commitment to STOP sinning, the application of the atoning sacrifice of the Lamb of God and the full internalizing of the nature of God through living by every Word of God by the power of the Holy Spirit.

2. That uncleanness which lasts for seven days such as the handling of a dead human body or the uncleanness of menses, number two is the reason  for the question about being unclean for Passover in:

Numbers  9:6 And there were certain men, who were defiled by the dead body of a man, that they could not keep the passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day: [Because of the commandment from Sinai that no unclean person may take the Passover]   9:7 And those men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the children of Israel? 9:8 And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you.

9:9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 9:10 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the passover unto the LORD.

9:11 The fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

9:12 They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it.

This answer is about eating the holy physical lamb Passover which was sacrificed before God at the tabernacle/temple when people were unclean for a period of seven days by a dead body, yet the command is that NO unclean person may take the Passover.  Therefore it applied to menses and to anyone having any lengthy uncleanness.  Such people were to delay taking the Passover until the second month and may then take it if clean.

The New Covenant Passover:  No physical lamb is being sacrificed before the LORD and made holy, because there is no physical Temple today.  Therefore in the Passover service today a holy lamb sacrifice is not being eaten and this law which is that no physically unclean person may eat the holy Passover lamb does not apply, because no holy physical Passover lamb is being eaten.

However this physical law is an allegory of a spiritual reality, and means that no spiritually unclean [sinful unrepentant] person is to eat of the spiritual symbols of Passover.  To partake of the spiritual Passover the condition of  spiritual purity and cleanness from sin [sincere repentance] applies; while because no holy physical lamb is being eaten the physical cleanness rule does not apply.

The principle here is the same as Paul’s instructions on circumcision;  if a man is converted and circumcised in heart, then there is no need for him to be physically circumcised as well [only we must circumcise our unconverted sons on the eighth day in obedience to the law].   In the same way a person who is sincerely repentant and committed to sin no more, may take the spiritual Passover regardless of any physical condition.

The sincerely repentant person who lives by every Word of God is spiritually clean, and need not let any physical condition separate them from God and taking the Passover.

3,  That uncleanness which has no specific duration and lasts until God  heals [Jesus healing many lepers, deaf and blind to demonstrate the fact that God is our healer], as in skin disfigurements and infections.

This third category is a lesson that in the end we can only really be made clean by God.  It is God who washes away our repented sin by applying the sacrifice of the Lamb of God; it is God who gives his enabling Spirit and it was God who called us to repentance and opened our eyes to our sin in the first place.

Some have said that “I was called to God by this man.”  No you were not!

Do not exalt the messenger above the author of the message; it is God the Father that calls people to Jesus Christ, not any man.  Indeed, if you were called to God and really converted to live by every Word of God; Why would you turn aside from the Great King who called you; in order to follow an imperfect messenger?

Right now we are living in an unclean world full of sin; yet we have a perfect sacrifice to atone for all sin and spiritual uncleanness; therefore let us take the spiritual New Covenant Passover with sincere repentance and confidence that Jesus Christ our Passover Lamb was sacrificed for us to deliver us from bondage to all the uncleanness of sin.

Today we should avoid the physically unclean things; and also avoid the spiritually unclean things of sin, and even the appearance of sin.

When our LORD comes he will build the Millennial Temple and will clarify all questions regarding the physical sacrifices and issues of clean and unclean regarding that soon to be built holy Temple.
