56,000 Israeli Reserves Called Up; US Approves Gaza Invasion

The United States has approved Israeli Gaza invasion. The White House said that Israel has the right to take whatever actions it deems necessary to ensure the security of its citizens.

Israel has acceded to a UN request by UN envoy Robert Serry for a six-hour ceasefire in its attacks on Hamas in the Gaza Strip starting Thursday at 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The Palestinians have not responded to the UN request. The IDF is prepared for a Gaza operation any time after that.

Cabinet ministers have now approved plans to invade and destroy the full network of militant tunnels, bases and supplies in Gaza.  The immediate focus will be on militant positions in rural areas [expected to take two weeks]; which will then be stepped up to the cities if the militants do not agree to demilitarizing the strip.

The Israeli Security Cabinet has just approved an order to call up 8,000 additional reserve soldiers Wednesday afternoon.  The IDF has already called up 48,000 reserves, bringing the total number to 56,000.
